Barack's Friend Rezko? Should Czarbie Worry?

~Snooper~

We have all heard the phrase that there is honor among thieves...except when jail time is a reality and when there is a chance that sentencing can be relaxed or if a deal can be made. This usually means that there are negotiations in the works. Apparently, Rezko's reality has set in and has started naming names. Barack should be worried...or not. Hopefully, Barack's closest friends won't meet up with similar fates of the closest friends of the Clinton Clansmen.

As I have reported earlier here and here, others have been chiming in with the likelihood that the earlier reports are indeed valid. Both Right Wing Nut House and Redstate are now "checking things out", as it were. Atlas Shrugs has also come on line about this issue.

I first learned of this from Confederate Yankee and in his post, he actually made contact with the theoretical prosecutor(s) in Chicago and they responded with the usual clamor of we can't say either way which is an admission of sorts. I suppose they are working on plugging those leaks. Yahoo! News is also carrying the story.

From RWNH:
The news out of Chicago is not good for Governor Rod Blagojevich. Convicted Chicago political operator Antoin “Tony” Rezko is talking to prosecutors about what he knows as far as corruption in Illinois and Chicago politics.

Believe me, it’s plenty. [...]

[...] There are other Rezko-Obama dealings such as Obama’s steering state contracts to Rezko’s businesses in exchange for fundraising assistance and campaign contributions. But that kind of thing is done all the time and you’d probably have to arrest just about every member of the House of Representatives and the Senate if a prosecutor would go after lawmakers who greased the palms of cronies and fundraisers with contracts.

So in order to understand why Obama may be sweating, I will have to give you a quick primer on the nature of Chicago politics.

There is a triad in the city that rules in all matters political and most matters economic. The first leg of the triad is the “legitimate” businessman. In order to start a business or expand one, you obviously need a bunch of licenses, permissions, and approvals from several city departments. You also need a little “juice” (used to be called “clout”). Nothing gets done in Chicago without greasing the palms of the right people either by gifts, promises of future considerations, or outright bribes. [...]
The bottom line is this...the Chicago politician running for POTUS doesn't need to be schooling anyone at any time about personal and professional integrity. Especially John McCain. Say what you will about McCain, he ain't from Chicago nor does he have skeletons in his closet to run away from. Obama does and that is why he refuses to talk about them and calls on his Thug or Goon Squads to "get in our faces" and classify any criticism as racism.

From Redstate:
[...] Jake Tapper has a bit more, and he's speculating - slightly - about whether there's going to be anything directly alleged against Obama by Rezko. Personally? I doubt it - although this bit about Rezko's dealings with a yet-unnamed bank has generated a certain amount of speculation. Comes right down to it, I won't shed a tear if it turns out that Senator Obama is personally innocent of any felonies, unethical behavior, or criminal conspiracies that might have involved Tony Rezko. You know why?

Because watching the Feds frog march out selected members of Obama's Illinois-originated staff from DNC headquarters in Chicago will be just as much fun, that's why. You know and I know that some of them aren't innocent (they're part of the Illinois political class, which makes them arguably corrupt by default), they won't have covered their tracks well enough, and Senator Obama won't dare protect them if they get fingered. They'll be on their own, just like every other suddenly-sweating politician in Illinois. From both parties. [...]
Absolutely AMEN and Roger That.

From Atlas:
Perhaps there is a G-d, as opposed to a messiah. Hillbuzz has the latest on Michael Sneed's Chicago Sun Times column. Frankly, Obama is so dirty it's hard to get your arms around who the hell he really is and what his socialist objectives are. But like the conviction of Al Capone on tax evasion, I don't care how they stop him, as long as they stop him. I am not as confident of Fitzgerald's intent. We saw how he pursued Scooter Libby in the Plame affair, while knowing all along it was Armitage. So he has an agenda -

Here's more on Obama's mob tie sidekick -- Alexi Giannoulias, who became Illinois state treasurer last year after Obama vouched for him, has pledged to raise $100,000 for the senator's Oval Office bid. [...]
Oh boo-hoo to the crooks! I can hardly wait for the whining to begin on this one. And, also, please stand by for the coming Obama Thugogracy.
