We have also said that this is an effort of the DementedRats to lay claim to troops being pulled out of Iraq. This has ALREADY been decided LONG ago as the Surge was building up. I guess the idiots they cater to are just plainly that dumb.

Get over it. We have been in Korea since the early 1950s. We have been in Japan and Europe since the late 1940s. We have been in the Philippines for longer than that. We will be in Iraqistan and Afghanistan for even longer.

Murtha...A Terminal Case of Beltwayitis

Murtha. The very epitome of an empirical ignoramus. Where does one begin to reveal the "udder" stupidity of the "man"?

Lawyers for Rep. John P. Murtha will appeal a recent ruling advancing a defamation lawsuit brought against the Pennsylvania Democrat by a U.S. Marine under investigation for killing Iraqi civilians. Justice Department lawyers representing Murtha on Nov. 16 filed notice that they planned to appeal a federal district court judge's Sept. 28 ruling allowing the lawsuit to proceed and ordering Murtha to give sworn testimony in the case.

If the court determines Murtha indeed was acting in his official capacity, the U.S. government could be substituted as the defendant - a move that would effectively neuter the case because the federal government cannot be sued for libel.

But Wuterich's lawyer, Mark S. Zaid, said Monday that the deposition now likely will be delayed, pending a determination from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The court will have to determine whether it has the jurisdiction to hear Murtha's appeal at this stage or if it should wait until a lower court determines the fate of Wuterich's lawsuit.

The Pennsylvania Democrat conceded violence was down dramatically and some normalcy restored on Iraq's streets, but he said U.S. victory remains unattainable as long as Baghdad fails to pass national reconciliation laws.

"To change the political law, it doesn't seem to me you need the military stability," Mr. Murtha told reporters on Capitol Hill.

The dim view of U.S. military progress in Iraq and a resolve to force a pullout have been echoed by the two top Democrats on Capitol Hill - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.

All three of their futures depend on failure in Iraq. This is the Worst Congress Ever! Hell, they couldn't even deliver the defeat they promised their liberal base!

I often wonder how the Leftinistra in this country we call The United States can sleep at night or, whenever, knowing in their hearts that their blatant BDS driven hatred for the military is getting our people in this country's uniform killed and wounded by their actions or, inactions. Is political standing and stature really that overwhelmingly important to them that they are directly responsible for the deaths and wounding of our troops by emboldening our enemy? Don't they realize that all the enemy is doing at the moment is waiting for the Democratic Party Leadership to win?

Why is it, that right at this very moment, when and, as we are winning this War In Iraq, they choose to pull the funds? The only explanation, both plausible and viable, is political expediency. How dare they. And, why are we tolerating this pathetic temper tantrum of theirs?

When we have reports such as this flowing into the news rooms across the globe, why are they being ignored? And, on the verge of Victory, our pathetic Democratic Party Leaders are just plain childishly wrong.

DEMOCRATIC POLITICAL SHENANIGANS CAUSES MORE US SOLDIERS TO DIE! Because democrats are choosing to delay funding to the troops at war more US soldiers will die!

Do we, America, want a "change in direction"? Yes. We do. But the "direction" is not a "location". The "direction" is an event. We, America, want to WIN THE WAR. And, we are...now. The ROE has been modified. The obvious signs are clear to this DAVOFW.

The cut-and-run Democrats have long argued that our presence in Iraq has merely stirred things up and given al-Qaida an effective recruiting tool. Well, we've certainly stirred things up — and thanks to the success of our surgin' general, David Petraeus, we have a bevy of new Iraqi recruits. Except they've got al-Qaida in their cross hairs.

On Saturday, members of the 1st Cavalry Division based near Taji brokered a formal agreement between Sunni and Shiite tribal leaders to join forces against al-Qaida and other jihadists. The Sunni and Shiite agreed to use members of more than 25 local tribes to protect the area around Taji, just 12 miles north of Baghdad.

Take a few minutes and think about that. Take a few minutes and think about this as well.

The deal is just the latest example of the progress Democrats claim isn't happening in Iraq — a series of deals with various tribes and militia groups that at one point were part of the insurgency. But it's the first involving both Sunni and Shiite sheiks together.

After the agreement, soldiers from the 1st Cav's 7th Regiment could be seen walking calmly through the streets of nearby Falahal. "A month ago, every single one of these people were shooting at us," Sgt. Richard Fisk told the Washington Times as he pointed out places in Falahal were roadside bombs were once planted.

Who would have thought that? Oh. WAIT! General David Petraeus did! The General the Senate UNANIMOUSLY confirmed and they APPROVED of The Plan! I smell shit in Shinolla here. You? What do you suppose is the "real agenda" here, folks?

The "real agenda" is this. The Democrats and RINOs cannot afford a victory in Iraq, plain and simple.

Last October, al-Qaida in Iraq declared Baqouba to be the capital of the Islamic State in Iraq, and claimed to control both Anbar and Diyala provinces, of which Baqouba is the capital. But that was before Operation Arrowhead Ripper. Of the 1,000 al-Qaida who were thought to have been in Baqouba, those who haven't been killed or captured have fled.

And we're not doing it alone. Despite mainstream media reports, Iraqis are fighting and dying for their freedom in ever greater numbers. Progress is being made. But as even New York Times reporter John Burns notes: "The most likely outcome of an American withdrawal any time soon would be cataclysmic violence."

Sounds like the tell-tale story of an imminent victory to this old warrior!! What does it sound like to you?

Waiting Until September

Just like everyone, but the Defeatocrats and the White Flag Republicans, wanted to do and agreed to do over 50 days ago, to wait for the "approved of" plan from General Petraeus.

I find it "interesting" that Reid's Defeatists Crowd whined about the 60-votes rule when they are in the "majority" (of what is yet to be determined) and DEMAND the 60-votes rule when they are in the minority. It merely proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they want things their way or no way at all and it exposes their DNC Double Standards in and on all issues.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) called the all-night debate "serious and important," while reminding Reid that the 60-vote requirement had become a standard hurdle for controversial measures in a narrowly divided Senate, including in recent years when Democrats were the minority party.

Reid whined:

He called the 60-vote requirement "a new math that was developed by the Republicans to protect the president."

"Funny" that now that "they" are the majority (yeah, right) the same rule he and his kind thought to be right is now new math. What a moron.

John McCain stated:

"We are abandoning the men and women in the military if we don't take this bill back up and pass it, conference with the House, and have it signed by the president of the United States, as we have for the past 45 years," said Sen. John McCain (Ariz.).

“He chastises Republicans for not allowing a vote,” Ms. Collins told reporters. “But he’s the one who is pulling the bill from the floor and thus precluding further consideration of all of the Iraq amendments that we have pending.”

McCain again:

Republicans accused Democrats of wasting time on a fruitless talkathon. “Nothing we have done for the last 24 hours will have changed any fact on the ground in Iraq or made the outcome of the war any more or less important for the security of this country,” said Senator John McCain of Arizona, senior Republican on the Armed Services Committee.

Bottom line: a complete waste of time and a lesson in futility. Reid and his team of Defeatocrats are a minority in this country and they will not win. Come 2008, the ones up for re-election will be in Gonesville.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Lieberman, McCain, Kyl, Graham, and Coleman today introduced a bipartisan amendment to the Defense Authorization Act, confronting the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran over its proxy attacks on American soldiers in Iraq.

The amendment details the publicly available evidence put forward over the past year by General David Petraeus, commanding general of Multi-National Force Iraq, and others about Iran’s violent and destabilizing activities in Iraq.

The amendment states that “the murder of members of the United States Armed Forces by a foreign government or its agents is an intolerable act of hostility against the United States,” and demands the government of Iran “take immediate action” to end all forms of support it is providing to Iraqi militias and insurgents. The amendment also mandates a regular report on Iran’s anti-coalition activity in Iraq.

“For many months, our military commanders and diplomats have warned us that the Iranian government has been training, equipping, arming, and funding proxies in Iraq who are murdering our troops,” said Senator Lieberman. “This amendment is a common sense, common ground statement of the Senate to Tehran: we know what you are doing, and you must stop.”

“American officials attest that the government in Teheran seeks to bleed the United States and render unsuccessful our efforts to bring about a stable and self-governing in Iraq,” said Senator McCain. “This amendment will send a clear signal: Iran’s activities in Iraq are wrong, and they must end immediately.”

“The Iranians are attempting to thwart our policies in the Middle East by actively supporting terrorists who are killing our troops in Iraq,” said Senator Kyl. “It is time we acknowledge this hostility against us, and this amendment tells the Iranians we will not tolerate any actions which threaten our troops or allies.”

“The evidence is increasingly clear the Iranian government is working to destabilize the Iraqi government,” said Senator Graham. “It is long past time for Congress to speak out about this destructive behavior by Iran. We need one voice, and I expect it will be a unified bipartisan voice, speaking out and condemning these actions by the Iranian government.”

“The United States will not tolerate Iran’s hostile attempts to sabotage our efforts in the Middle East region,” said Senator Coleman. “On my last trip to Iraq, our Minnesota troops in Southern Iraq showed me Iranian-made explosives that were used against them on convoy missions. This crucial amendment makes it clear to the Iranian government, and any other government in the region that seeks to harm our soldiers, that providing any form of support to Iraqi insurgents will not be tolerated and must cease immediately.”

The Lieberman amendment--confronting Iran on its proxy attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq--just passed the Senate unanimously, 97-0.

So let's look at the scorecard this week so far: The Webb amendment on trying to limit Iraq deployments went down to defeat. The Lieberman amendment confronting Iran passed unanimously. So much for the long-predicted collapse--at least so far. There will be some tough votes in the days ahead. Let's hope the Senate Republicans continue to hold the line.

Meanwhile, Senator Lieberman had this to say of the Senate's unanimous vote, confronting Iran:

"Today's unanimous vote sends a strong, clear message from the entire Senate to the Iranians that we know what they are doing in Iraq, and they must stop...This is a warning to the Iranians that whatever differences divide us politically here in Washington, we stand united against these outrageous attacks."

According to sources, Boehner and Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) were urging solidarity among House Republicans, explaining that they must distinguish themselves from their Senate colleagues.

A spokesman for Boehner said his comments were in no way meant to trivialize the war or the senators’ decisions. Rather, they were meant to emphasize the importance of allowing the troop surge to work and to urge GOP lawmakers to reserve their judgment on the situation until September, when Gen. David Petraeus is scheduled to brief Congress fully on the progress in Iraq.

President Bush's Iraq "surge" strategy is not dead and should be given a chance to succeed, according to two security analysts who met at the American Enterprise Institute Monday to discuss military policy and politics.

AEI resident scholar Frederick Kagan and former acting Army Chief of Staff Gen. Jack Keane spoke out with rare voices of approval for the president's policy as part of an AEI panel called "Assessing the Surge in Iraq."

Kagan was critical of the surge's detractors, saying they had jumped to attack a policy that had only recently begun. He expressed incredulity at the idea that the surge was somehow not working.

"The current strategy has not failed. It just began June 15th," Kagan said.

Keane agreed, adding that the strategy needed more time. He also stressed that the situation was generally improving in Iraq and that coalition forces were gaining momentum in their efforts.

"All the Iraqis that I spoke to, numbering in the hundreds, believed the security situation was getting better," he said.

The "surge" is working. Will Washington allow the current progress to continue?

In Washington perception is often mistaken for reality. And as Congress prepares for a fresh debate on Iraq, the perception many members have is that the new strategy has already failed.

This isn't an accurate reflection of what is happening on the ground, as I saw during my visit to Iraq in May. Reports from the field show that remarkable progress is being made. Violence in Baghdad and Anbar Province is down dramatically, grassroots political movements have begun in the Sunni Arab community, and American and Iraqi forces are clearing al Qaeda fighters and Shiite militias out of long-established bases around the country.

This is remarkable because the military operation that is making these changes possible only began in full strength on June 15. To say that the surge is failing is absurd. Instead Congress should be asking this question: Can the current progress continue?

One should be wondering why it is that the folks with the lowest approval ratings in history want to once again get shown the door. Reid and Pelosi cannot scrape enough votes together to override GWB's veto pen and those of us in the New Media won't allow them to win this round either. We trounced the ILLEGAL Alien Shamnesty bill into the dirt and we will do the same this time around as well.

We are strongly united in defeating the Leftinistra.

Open Letter to Congress and the Senate

It is that time again where our public officials, the retreat in defeat crowd will once again make a big show voting on bills with timelines that they already know will be vetoed and that they do not have the votes to over ride.

This post is following up on Miss Beth's previous post found here.

Beth has asked me to publish my letter that has been sent and will continue to be sent to members of both the Senate and to Congress, on a daily basis, until they understand that defeat is not an option and trying to snatch defeat from the amazing progress we have been seeing just as General Petraeus has gotten the troops he requested for the new strategy, will cost them their political positions in the next election.

The Letter:

The Senate should not vote to start withdrawing troops from Iraq within 120 days.

General Petraeus has started implementing the new strategies and is seeing tremendous success and anyone, ANYONE that tries to undermine that success will be held publicly responsible by EVERY conservative blog for every man, woman and child that dies as a result of a premature withdrawal, OR the tying of our troops hands to ensure defeat.

al-Qaeda has just recently been outed by Michael Yon as having fed people their own children for lunch, with those poor childrens mouths stuffed like pigs at a feast, and this is who the Democrats and some wobbly Republicans wish to abandon the innocent men, women and children of Iraqi to?

We will see to it that those images are blasted across the world and along with those images, the politicians names, each and every one of them will be shown side by side with the horrible pictures of the atrocities said politicians helped al-qaeda accomplish.

COUNT ON IT.

Anyone that votes with Baghdad Reid and his ilk against our continued efforts in Iraq will be forever associated with the chaos and consequences of what follows, just as Democrats have been associated, since we withdrew from Vietnam, with the Cambodia killing fields.

Make no mistake, voting for a timeline, is encouraging our enemies to believe we are weak and cannot stomach a fight when it gets tough and it also serves to demoralize our troops.

My blog as well as other blogs have those words published from OUR TROOPS themselves in letters and emails we received asking us to "keep congress off their backs", so that they can get the job done, which THEY say is possible.

We Win, They Lose.

This is the only outcome acceptable.

Sending emails, calling, faxing can all be tiring, but it is what needs to be done to be heard over the screeching from the left.

Feel free to use this letter or write your own, but we must rise up, stand tall, be firm and make our voices heard.

The silent majority will be silent no more.

[Update] Gallup has the President's approval rating down to 29%, second term, country at war, I perfectly understand this number, what I do NOT understand is how a NEW Democratically controlled Congress, in a poll by the same organization, Gallup, has an approval rating of under HALF the Presidents... Congress approval rating is down to 14%, the lowest in the history of Gallup for congress.

So the president, in a time of war, on his second term is TWICE as popular as Congress....in the recent examples from the far left liberals, isn't that some kind of "mandate", telling Congress they are heading in the wrong direction and perhaps they should be trying to help America win instead of trying to force us into defeat?

he Senate, spending the spring mired in divisive debate on Iraq, sharply rejected legislation Wednesday to cut off money for combat operations after March 2008.

The vote was a loss for Sen. Russell Feingold and other liberal Democrats who support taking the drastic step to end the war. But the effort picked up new support from members previously reluctant to limit war funding, an indication of the conflict’s unpopularity among voters. [which voters might they be?]

The proposal lost 29-67 on a procedural vote, falling 31 votes short of the necessary votes to advance.

“It was considered absolute heresy four months ago,” Feingold, D-Wis., said of any legislative move to simply stop funding the war. [And it is STILL considered as heresy, moron, coupled with treason, sedition and subversion.]

“Well, today a majority of the Democratic senators said it is time to end the mission as we have it, and to bring this mistake to an end,” he later added. “That is a huge change.” [By whose standards you friggin’ quack?]

The vote came as Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid planned to begin negotiating a war spending bill with the House. Unable to pass the House version of the bill, which funds the war in two-month installments, Reid staged a series of test votes Wednesday to determine how far senators are willing to go on war legislation. [Not very far reid you moron socialist Leftinistra baffoon! Are you ready for the Surrender Monkeys? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!]

“We have to make certain that (troops) do receive the funds that they need,” said Reid, D-Nev. “But we need to do it in the context of changing this policy. House Defeats Bill Calling for Quick Departure From Iraq

WASHINGTON — House Republicans defeated a preliminary measure that would have required troops to begin withdrawing from Iraq within 90 days, but a vote on a broader war funding measure was still set for later Thursday.

The measure that was defeated was a bill sponsored by Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., a member of the “Out of Iraq” caucus of progressive Democrats. The bill called for pulling out U.S. troops within 90 days and completing the withdrawal within six months. The measure failed by a heavily partisan vote of 255-171.

The broader piece of legislation still awaiting a vote would provide the military $42.8 billion to keep operations going for two-and-a-half more months, buy new equipment and train Iraqi and Afghan security forces. Congress would decide shortly before its August recess whether to release an additional $52.8 billion to fund the war through September.

The House bill faces Republican opposition and lacks support in the Senate.

Below is a letter that appears on several blogs. It was written by a Veteran and speaks volumes on the Greater War on Terror.

For all of you defeatists that think we can “talk” to this enemy, for all of you named in the letter as the “Axis of Idiots”, maybe you need to quit playing the game of the Ostrich Syndrome and get over your BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) and get over it NOW. You do NOT speak for a majority of Americans, the majority of Americans want this war WON, without all of your posturing, violations of the Logan Act, all of your “form letters” in response to citizens, with your canned talking points, without facetious trips taken at taxpayer expense while you leave the troops hanging and without all the games you’re playing with people’s lives.

In fact, your majority in the elections was extremely small–it certainly was NOT a majority of this nation’s populace.

I personally, don’t feel the need to see my children’s and grandchildren’s heads being held up for cameras.

All of you need a dose of reality on just what we are facing–this isn’t Vietnam, this is ISLAM and THEY WILL FOLLOW US HOME. Your “rights” will no longer exist if this happens–women’s rights, civil rights, homosexual rights, freedom of speech–none of it will matter because they will no longer exist. Are you that dense that you don’t understand this? Or are you simply so filled with hatred at our President (remember, we only have ONE of those, not 535) that you would sell this country down the river? I believe it’s both.

Further, for you to tack on the pork you did for special interest groups, after the majority of you ran on lower taxes, “ethics (you wouldn’t know an ethic if it reared up and bit you)”, etc., you have completely broken your word to the people who DID fall for your lies. That’s fiduciary mismanagement.

I don’t understand why you are encouraging this to happen, why you are undercutting the nation with your shenanigans and frankly, your treasonous behavior. For every lame response we get from one of you, we post it at the Victory Caucus (www.VictoryCaucus.com) as well as our individual blogs. We WILL expose you and continue to expose you to keep your actions, your broken promises and your lies in the forefront of the American public so they never forget your actions.

It was, after all, the Democrats and defeatists such as yourself that lost Vietnam. It was, after all, the Democrats and defeatists such as yourself that started the chain of cause and effect that led to 9/11. It was, after all, the Democrats and defeatists such as yourself that has cost this country its standing as the promise-keepers of the world, thus weakening and crippling this nation to such an extent that we have few allies left.

Like the letter writer, I do indeed question your patriotism. You have NONE. It is, after all, Democrats and defeatists such as yourself, that did this. Your party is filled with liars, bribe takers, murderers, scandals and those who disgrace the uniforms they once wore–and that’s just who is sitting now. You have no credibility. You’re more interested in the almighty dollar than in what’s morally right for you have no morals.

Now, THAT is a dumb question, is it not? Then again, it all depends on who one would ask the question.

A friend of mine from TVC, The Victory Caucus, sent me a link that says it all. This friend of mine, A Proud Infidel, and I are of a kindred Spirit. We loathe the Leftinistra. We know what their “cause” is and how they are going about their business. We have been in the trenches and can smell an enemy clicks away.

Americans loathe the taste of Defeatism. In days of yore in the USSR, their government at one time executed their defeatists. They called them dissidents and their actions did not promote the cause of the government there. We cannot do that here…yet. Instead, we will just break down into a Civil War, street to street, building to building and house to house. Alarmist, you say? Perhaps, just so but more than likely not.

Our country hasn’t been this split politically and philisophically since 1861. I kid you not. Tragically, our children are not being taught the real history of this great Nation called America. They are being taught that alternative life styles are better than family values and that the NEA can better educate them than their dumb parents can because the parents are too busy. They are being taught that socialism and Marxism is better than the Federal Republic our Framers envisioned. This is a sorry time in which we live and we have the offspring of the Flower Children of the Vietnam era now in CONgress leading us down the Path of Doom and Gloom.

Alas, I digress. Here is the link that A Proud Infidel sent to me.

The Democratic pickle is exquisitely simple: In the past election, they ran as the anti-war party and promised to bring the war to a close, but, like the dog who finally catches the car fender, they’re at a loss about what to do now. As Virginia’s Rep. Jim Moran says of his fellow Democrats, they “want to make sure this is still President Bush’s war,” but the only way they can end the war is to take possession of it. The Democratic base thinks that’d be fine. But, one gets the sense, someone in the party’s leadership understands that might be a problem…”
