Root Cause of International Terrorism

Speakers at the General Assembly's 6^th Committee raised the issue of causation, invoking unstated false premises:

• International terrorism can be eliminated by removing a few root causes. 
• The root causes of international terrorism do not include ideology. 

    Examine Qatar's statement, which approaches the Acme of arrogance. [All emphasis added.]

On the other hand, it is unfortunate that a large part of international efforts to
combat terrorism is limited to reactions to terrorism and its symptoms, rather than
discussing and addressing its root causes and eliminating the factors that feed it. For
international efforts to eliminate terrorism to succeed, it is imperative to address its
root causes, as recognized by the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy,
and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council. This includes several aspects,
including improving the living conditions of the poor and unemployed youth and
people living under political and historical oppression and foreign occupation. We
must also prevent the incitement to hatred, including incitement to violence and
hatred of minorities of ethnic groups, religions and foreigners. In this connection, we
note that attempts to link terrorism with any particular religion or a particular ethnic
group are themselves provocative and contributes to the spread of terrorism.

    Yeah, that's the ticket! Usama bin Ladin formed al-Qaeda because he was impoverished and unemployed. A construction engineer with inherited wealth, bin Ladin was motivated by something else, not poverty.

political and historical oppression

    Were the medical, law & engineering students who were studying in European universities motivated to mount terrorist acts by oppression?  Were they oppressed by the European nations they attacked or were they oppressed by dictatorships in Arabia & Asia?

    Exactly what foreign nation was America occupying & oppressing September 11,2001?  We were protecting Kuwait & Saudi Arabia from invasion and enforcing UN resolutions in Iraq, we were not engaged in occupation & oppression.

    I provoke terrorism by publicizing the fact that Islamic terrorism flows directly from Islamic doctrines enshrined in the Qur'an & exemplified by Moe's sunnah.  Yeah, right.

     "We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve", "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved", "deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind ", "to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah", "Allah brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and a group (of them) you made captives.", "Indeed, you strike more terror in their hearts than their fear of God".

    "Allah made me victorious by awe, (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month's journey."  "I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy)"

    Lets strip off the chaff and review what Allah & Moe said.

    Surah At-Taubah 120 contains the smoking fuse, a statement which confirms the rest in the worst possible way. Muslims earn Brownie Points by terrorism: "That is because they suffer neither thirst nor fatigue, nor hunger in the Cause of Allâh, nor they take any step to raise the anger of disbelievers nor inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness."

    Of course, it could not possibly mean that, could it.  But two of the most respected exegetes agree: Tafsir Ibn Kathir & Tafsir al-Jalalayn.

nor tread they any tread (mawti’an is a verbal noun, meaning wat’an) that enrages the disbelievers, nor gain any gain from the enemy, of God, be it through slaughter, capture or plunder, but a righteous deed is therefore recorded for them, that they may be rewarded for it. Truly God does not leave the wage of the virtuous to go to waste, that is, the wage of those [mentioned], rather He rewards them.

Focus on the most significant elements again:

  • righteous deed is therefore recorded for them

    Lets put it together to make the pattern crystal clear.

    Lets take a closer look at the concluding clauses of 8:57 & 59:2 to make the pattern stand out.

• What do these ayat have in common?

  • will always be aware of the threat of your power
  • so that they take a lesson
    • So learn a lesson, O ye who have eyes!
    • take warning, then, O ye with eyes (to see)!
    • Then take admonition, O you with eyes (to see).

    Brigadier General S.K. Malik wrote a strategy manual for Pakistan's army. It is called "The Qur'anic Concept of War". What role might terror play therein?

Terror struck into the hearts of the enemies is not only
a means, it is the end in itself. Once a condition of terror into
the opponent's heart is obtained, hardly anything is left to be
achieved. It is the point where the means and the end meet
and merge. Terror is not a means of imposing decision upon
the enemy; it is me decision we wish to impose upon him.

Terror cannot be struck into the hearts of an army by merely
 cutting its lines of communication or depriving it of its routes
of withdrawal. It is basically related to the strength or weakness
of the human soul. It can be instilled only if the opponent's
Faith is destroyed. Psychological dislocation is temporary;
spiritual dislocation is permanent. Psychological dislocation can be
produced by a physical act but this does not hold good of the
spiritual dislocation. To instill terror into the hearts of the enemy, 
it is essential. in the ultimate analysis, to dislocate his Faith. An
invincible Faith is immune to terror. A weak Faith offers inroads
to terror. The Faith conferred upon us by the Holy Qur'an has
the inherent strength to ward off terror from us and to enable
us to strike terror into the enemy. Whatever the form or type of
strategy directed against the enemy, it must, in order to be effective,
be capable of striking terror into the hearts of the enemy. A strategy
that fails to attain this condition suffers from inherent drawbacks
and weaknesses; and should be reviewed and modified. This rule
is fully applicable to nuclear as well as conventional wars. It is
equally true of the strategy of nuclear deterrence in fashion
today. To be credible and effective, the strategy of deterrence
must be capable of striking terror into the hearts of the enemy.

If the first sentence in the quote from page 59 of The Qur'anic Concept of war did not clue you in, you should do the world a favor by removing yourself from the gene pool; you are too stupid to reproduce, much less vote. 

Hillary Clinton: Secretary of Malarkey

Radio news reports of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's remarks about terrorism and economic development were insufficient basis for a blog post. I found the search to be difficult until I located a New York Times article by Nicholas Kristof which provide a link to Foreign Policy, which published the Secretary's prepared remarks delivered to the Center for Global Development in Washington, D.C..

News reports gave the impression that Secretary Clinton had implied that terrorism is a function of poverty & deprivation, which can be ameliorated by economic development. In skimming the prepared remarks, the sound bite stood out like a sore thumb

We cannot stop terrorism or defeat the ideologies of violent extremism when hundreds of millions of young people see a future with no jobs, no hope, and no way ever to catch up to the developed world.

Let us apply logic to that statement. Hati is impoverished, with little hope for the future. Are Hatians detonating themselves? Are they hijacking aircraft and flying them into office towers? If terrorism is a function of poverty, why aren't Hatians engaged in terrorist acts?

Were the five American Muslims who went to Pakistan to join the Jihad hopeless, uneducated victims of poverty? One of them was a dental student, others were employed. They had sufficient money to purchase expensive tickets to fly to Pakistan. How about Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab? Is the British educated son of a Nigerian Banker impoverished? How could he afford a ticket to America?

Ayman al-Zawahiri is a pediatrician. Usama bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammad are engineers. Why are those professionals who could earn good incomes engaged in terrorism while the impoverished Hatians are not? What do Abdulmutallab, Zawahiri & bin Ladin have in common? Could it be Islam?

How could Islam motivate Muslims to engage in terrorism? [Emphasis added.]

• 33:21. Indeed in the Messenger of Allâh (Muhammad ) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allâh and the Last Day and remembers Allâh much.
  

If a Muslim wants to meet Allah and gain admission to Paradise, he should emulate Moe. What did Moe do that they should emulate?

• Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220:
  Narrated Abu Huraira:
  
  Allah's Apostle said, "I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand." Abu Huraira added: Allah's Apostle has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures (i.e. the Prophet did not benefit by them).
• Bukhari Volume 9, Book 90, Number 333:

  Narrated Al-A'rai:

  Abu Huraira said, Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, I would love to fight in Allah's Cause and then get martyred and then resurrected (come to life) and then get martyred and then resurrected (come to life) and then get martyred, and then resurrected (come to life) and then get martyred and then resurrected (come to life)." Abu Huraira used to repeat those words three times and I testify to it with Allah's Oath.

• Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 8, Number 387:
  Narrated Anas bin Malik:
  Allah's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.' And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah." Narrated Maimun ibn Siyah that he asked Anas bin Malik, "O Abu Hamza! What makes the life and property of a person sacred?" He replied, "Whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah', faces our Qibla during the prayers, prays like us and eats our slaughtered animal, then he is a Muslim, and has got the same rights and obligations as other Muslims have."
  

Moe is a role model for Muslims to emulate; a terrorist who craved serial martyrdom. He was also ordered to fight the people until they submit to Islam. Since we have not submitted to Islam, Muslims who seek admission to Paradise must emulate Moe by fighting us, using terrorism as a battle tactic.

In fact, the Qur'an reveals that terrorism is an intrinsic sacrament, foundational to Islam, not a modern innovation.

• 3:151. We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allâh, for which He had sent no authority; their abode will be the Fire and how evil is the abode of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong­doers).
• 8:12. (Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes."
• 8:57. So if you gain the mastery over them in war, punish them severely in order to disperse those who are behind them, so that they may learn a lesson.
• 8:60. Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of God and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom God doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of God, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly. [Abdullah Yusuf Ali]
• 33:26. And those of the people of the Scripture who backed them (the disbelievers) Allâh brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and a group (of them) you made captives.
• 59:2. He it is Who drove out the disbelievers among the people of the Scripture (i.e. the Jews of the tribe of Bani An-Nadir) from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think that they would get out. And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But Allah's (Torment) reached them from a place whereof they expected it not, and He cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their own dwellings with their own hands and the hands of the believers. Then take admonition, O you with eyes (to see).
• 59:13. Verily, you (believers in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) are more awful as a fear in their (Jews of Bani An-Nadir) breasts than Allah. That is because they are a people who comprehend not (the Majesty and Power of Allah).

Muslims who obey Allah and emulate Moe will engage in terrorism.

Which is better, poor terrorists who can't afford explosives and airline tickets or rich terrorists who can build bombs and travel at will? Facilitating economic development in Islamic nations only serves to improve their ability to attack us.

Is it possible that a graduate of the Yale law school is unable to get a clue? If the Secretary of State reads this without obtaining a clue, then we must assume that malfeasance is involved.

John Edward's Poverty Tour

Let us pick this deceptive turd apart, shall we. It "IS" "Rather" simple to do.

Edwards to announce poverty tour

For a guy that doesn't know what a rich man is, how in the hell is he going to be able to know what a poor man is? Eh?

Can JRE pull off a JFK, or an RFK (asks Politico chief political writer Mike Allen, who is sharing guestblogging duties while Ben is on vacation)? John Edwards plans to announce Monday that he’ll take a break from fund-raising and campaigning in early-voting states next week for a three-day, eight-state, 12-city “Road to One America” tour aimed at calling attention to poverty in the deep South, the Mississippi Delta, Appalachia and the Rust Belt. The campaign points out that none of the states he’ll visit has an early 2008 primary, and says Edwards won’t be doing rallies.

Edwards makes me sick. Not as sick as Hillary does but sick just the same. The Double Standard is all so telling and obvious but the dumb and dumber flock to him like a cockroach to a bug-zapper.

Edwards pays $400 for a haircut, his house has more square footage than most Central American Counties, his "carbon footprint" is larger than the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, his last 3 jobs were medical malpractice attorney (ambulance chaser), U.S Senator and hedge fund manager, he owns at least one of those Two Americas, and he gets the "college rate" of $55K to speak about poverty.

Does anyone see the Double Standard here, besides me?

Instead, TV viewers will see Edwards in coal country, Edwards in a factory, Edwards on a farm, Edwards in a struggling neighborhood, Edwards in a school, Edwards in a health care clinic. “It’s an effort to show the rest of the country how 37 million Americans live their lives in poverty every single day,” an Edwards aide said. “It’s not only their workplaces -- it’s their homes and the places they get health care.”

What if, Edwards, the man that knows not what a rich man is, gets in the faces of the down trodden and tells them that they CAN rise above their circumstances, JUST LIKE HE DID and that the poor need NOT depend upon government to get them (the poor) out of their personal quagmires? How about Edwards tells them to pull themselves up by their OWN bootstraps, apply themselves and bulldoze their way to the top...like Edwards did? How about that? Wouldn't THAT be a novel idea? Wouldn't THAT be a worthy and noble cause?

The photogenic swing is reminiscent of John F. Kennedy’s repeated coal-country campaigning before the West Virginia primary of 1960. His overwhelming victory ended Catholicism as an issue in the campaign and brought national attention to Appalachian poverty. Twenty-eight years later, Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis donned a hard hat and overalls for an hour-long tour of a West Virginia coal mine.

And Dukakis LOST big time and it sent his wife into the "clinic" for a spell due to utter humiliation when Ronaldus Maximus TROUNCED the Double Standard Dukakis machine in a landslide this country has only seen two of...both of them due to RWR!!

“By telling their stories to the rest of the nation, the tour will attempt to shed light on the new faces of poverty in America,” the Edwards campaign says in an announcement document. The former U.S. senator from North Carolina has a plan for “ending poverty in America within a generation” that includes an increase in the minimum wage, investments in rural community colleges, creation of 1 million short-term “stepping stone” jobs, and a program to encourage responsible fatherhood and fight teen pregnancy.

Or, how about if Edwards, if he REALLY cares about the poor, and he believes that everyone BUT his kind (the rich Leftinistra) should give up what they have and give to them what don't have, freely gives HIS OWN DAMN MONEY to the poor and down trodden? Wouldn't THAT mean something? Actions speak louder than words, Oh Mr I Don't Know What A Rich Man "IS"!! Moron.

Edwards has been putting a new emphasis on his message of economic fairness as a way to make himself more than the anti-war candidate. He also wants to mop up union endorsements and get more traction among lower-income, working voters without a college education. But he’s so wealthy that he has struggled to mold a populist image.

Economic fairness...that's one of those buzz words, right? That's one of those "sound good" terms, right? But, what the hell does it mean? NOTHING! That's what it means. He wants BIG LABOR UNION DOLLARS (will he give it to the poor?) to win an election by catering (pandering) to those with seemingly little hope because they rely on Big Brother and Big Brother has NO intentions of helping. Big Brother relies on the poor to keep control of the poor. That's how socialism takes root.

Edwards will start next Sunday, July 15, with a walking tour of the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans. The three-day tour will officially begin the next day in New Orleans with a town hall in conjunction with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where he’ll kick off the day’s theme of “Rewarding Work and Ending Poverty in America.” Then he’ll head to Canton, Miss.; Marks, Miss.; Marianna, Ark.; and Memphis, Tenn., where he’ll give the first of two speeches.

Ending poverty. Engels and Marx promised that Utopian impossibility. So. Edwards is a socialist as well. These trolls out themselves on a regular basis.

On Tuesday, July 16, he’ll take his theme of “Strengthening Neighborhoods and Cities Rising” to Cleveland; Youngstown, Ohio, where he’ll give the second speech; and Pittsburgh.

The finale will be Wednesday, July, 18, with a theme of “Restoring Hope to Rural America.” He’ll stop in isolated southwest Virginia, then will end in Whitesburg, Ky., and Prestonsburg, Ky. That's the same Prestonsburg that was the final public stop by Robert F. Kennedy in 1968 on HIS iconic poverty tour.

P.S. In Maureen Dowd’s essential Sunday account of an interview with Edwards about his tastes in books, music, TV and actors (“Phantom At The Opera: He likes his culture with a drawl”), print she quotes the former senator as saying: “Elizabeth thinks the two rules you always use in politics are: Don’t dance. And don’t wear hats.” Ms. Dowd adds: “Especially not if you’ve got such a fabulous haircut to show off.” And we might add: Tough to stick to in coal country.

UPDATE: In response to a comment below from reader SRB, who challenged the use of "overwhelming," here are the 1960 West Virginia primary results: 60.8 percent for Kennedy, to 39.2 percent for Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota. See the whole chart here.

The general election, probably what SRB was thinking of, was one of the closest in history -- 49.7 percent for Kennedy to 49.5 percent for one Richard Milhous Nixon of California.

Pathetic. Truly and indeed pathetic. They should be ashamed of themselves. JFK has to be rolling his eyes and looking to Truman and Dewey and saying,"What happened?"
