I was wondering if the donation I sent in to the Senate Finance Committee ever got that Rubber Room for ReidCo installed.

ReidCo, in his infinite infidelities to this country - our Troops - We The People - Patriotism - The Flag - Truth - and any number of other national treasures he himself has shat upon, is still in denial and that is not "fonetics" for the river in Egypt.

I was waiting to write about this...this...poor excuse of a man until a few things were cleared up in my head. Namely, I was waiting for a former comrade to firm up some things and as Dean pointed out, ReidCo and his Merry Band of Losers in Nevada could not muster up more than MAYBE 50 unamerican moosetwits to counter the Fight For Victory Tour. My "confirmation" came from an individual that cannot and will not be named. Round One goes to Move America Forward.

That being said, like I needed confirmation, ReidCo has violated several laws of the land. Harry Reid is the Ring Leader and IAW the Constitution of the United States, should be removed from office by law enforcement officials but, there are no men left in DC. They have been polluted by PC.

What has ReidCo violated? Unlike the Moonbat Fruit Loop Brigades which claim that "BushCo" has violated the Constitution of the United States and NEVER offering up what exactly the infraction was according to the Constitution, it is clear that which ReidCo has not only broken but fractured. And, here it is.

But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

The war in Iraq "is lost" and a US troop surge is failing to bring peace to the country, the leader of the Democratic majority in the US Congress, Harry Reid, said Thursday.

"I believe ... that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week," Reid said, on the same day US President George W. Bush was giving a speech at an Ohio town hall meeting defending the war on terror.

The right to impeach public officials is secured by the U.S. Constitution in Article I, Sections 2 and 3, which discuss the procedure, and in Article II, Section 4, which indicates the grounds for impeachment: "the President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

Possibly, a better form of impeachment might be giving soldier's families, relatives of Iraqi's killed by the terrorists, and those trying to ensure Iraq's future 30 minutes in a locked room with Senator Harry Reid. Alone. No press. Leaving only a video to show to Nancy Pelosi, Schumer, et al.

As ReidCo and PelosiCo meddle with their fellow losers and whiners, the pressures from the current Administration, behind the scenes, (3-day bombing plan I am sure) have caused Iran to release another American hostage.

Nearly in the same time frame, it has been shown that the counter-insurgency is reaping success upon success. The Leftinistra within the camps of ReidCo and PelosiCo are allergic to success in Iraq. They break out in immature and impractical tirades of stupidity.

Does anyone remember these words? They can be found here (screen shot). This was way back in April...a millennium to the Microwave Society of America:

THE US troop surge in Iraq has thrown al-Qa'ida off balance and produced a dramatic reduction in sectarian killings and a drop in roadside bombings.

David Petraeus, the top US commander in Iraq, said the build-up of American forces in Baghdad since late January had produced positive outcomes. These included the killing or capture of al-Qa'ida fighters, causing the terrorist group to lose influence with local Sunnis.

The strategic gains against insurgents would lead to a changed and possibly longer-term role for Australian troops, shifting from security operations to a focus on training Iraqi soldiers and police.

General Petraeus told The Australian during a face-to-face interview at his Baghdad headquarters there had been a 75 per cent reduction in religious and ethnic killings in the capital between December last year and this month, a doubling in the seizure of insurgents' weapons caches between January and August, a rise in the number of al-Qa'ida "kills and captures" and a fall in the number of coalition deaths from roadside bombings.

"We say we have achieved progress, and we are obviously going to do everything we can to build on that progress and we believe al-Qa'ida is off balance at the very least," he said.

Now, the historically most international embarrassing CONgress in our nation's history is back in session after a "much needed recess", ReidCo is desperately trying to go back in time as if the successes in Iraq have not taken place and wants to change direction. I wish he would make up his mind. Before there was pretty much a stalemate in Iraq and he wanted to change direction. Most of America wanted a victory but he wanted to cut and run. Now that we are winning, he wants to cut and run again. Somebody really needs to get Reid that Rubber Room. No matter what is going on in Iraq, this pathetic excuse for a man wants to cut and run, take his ball and go home. Maybe he should have stayed on recess and gotten that warm pint of milk with those graham crackers and curled up with his blanky and taken a nap for a few hundred years.

Listen to the whining...my own three sons NEVER got away with whining like this...EVER! To this day, the only time whining is tolerated is if a viable solution is offered. No solution? No whining. PERIOD. I guess Reid's parents failed him.

Democrats also today convene the first of a series of hearings on Iraq policy as they await multiple reports on conditions in Iraq and prepare to challenge the president, who sought to preempt Democratic criticism with his surprise visit to Iraq Monday. Hearings are set for every day in either the House and Senate through the middle of next week.

Democratic leaders, who before the break had resisted most efforts on striking a compromise with Republicans on Iraq policy, have shown some new willingness to try to get together on legislation that could clear Congress. But they do not appear ready to completely abandon their push for a withdrawal.

“Many of my Republican colleagues wanted to hold off until September before joining the fight to change course in Iraq,” said Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader. “Now that time has come and every objective assessment of the president’s strategy has shown that it has failed to deliver the political solution it promised. I am willing and ready to help my Republican colleagues keep their word by working in a bipartisan way to change course in Iraq.”

No matter what it is, there needs to be a change in direction. HEY! REID! The campaign trail ended MONTHS ago, moron!

With the recent trip to Iraq by GWB, it has been stated that if things keep going like they are going, we just might be able to have a troop coming home party. ReidCo ignores that and continues to lust after that Rubber Room.

What bothers me the most about ReidCo is the inherent and inbred ignorance they exhume and no matter the good news, it isn't what they want. They ran on a platform knowing damn well they were lying through their teeth. Even the reforms (political) that are taking place after a one-year stretch in time, ReidCo thinks that the Microwave Mentality should extend automatically because ReidCo thinks so.

It is time to burn up the fax machines, the email servers and the snail mail trails once again.

We are in a fight for our very survival.

Call To Action...Support The Troops...Censure CONgress

In a previous post entitled Axis of Defeatists, I pointed out the sillyness of the Cut and Run rhetoric and others have pointed out that "redeployment" is a military term which means NOT what the current milquetoast CONgress Critters are implying it means. If you don't know what the term means, don't make up a meaning to suit your uneducated stupidity. Go look it up.

The Lame Stream Media has been outed upon several "events" and I am going to surmise one here and now. We Conservatives, especially the Reagan Era Conservatives, know for a FACT that there is Leftist Propaganda Machinations throughout the Lame Stream Media, in print and broadcast. It has been proven. Deny it all you want to...the facts remain.

In recent days, GWB and scads of CONgress Critters tried to get the Shamnesty Bill through and crammed down the Nation's throat. Democrat, Independent and Republican alike said, "Hell NO!". GWB and many CONgress Critters (D, R & I) and far-left Moonbat Brigades were upset with "us". The Media was having a Hay Day with it because it was PLAINLY obvious that the Executive and the Legislative branches were NOT listening to "us" and we were NOT buying into the crappola and all they could do was blame Bush. It was an opportunity to "show the world" how lame GWB was. Several Democrats even said as much. "We The People" were heard because the lame Stream Media saw a way to PROVE their "points" as dictated by their string pullers in the Camp of The Leftinistra.

Now, here we are, facing another "stab the troop in the back" episode with the lamest CONgress in the Nation's history, with an approval rating HALF of the approval rating of GWB, and we are to "believe" that the majority of Americans are WITH the lowest approved of CONgress in history. Does that seem even remotely feasible? The Lame Stream Media is using this as another opportunity to "show the world" that GWB is lame. And he is not. I may not agree with GWB ALL the time but he IS correct (mostly) on the GWOT. We fight them there so we don't fight them here. The problem with that has been amply discussed in other posts, namely, the ROE. Why aren't the majority being heard this time around?

This brings up an issue that the LAMEST CONgress in history will NOT address and it is way past time to continue to let them slide on it. This Nation is at war. PERIOD. The laws apply.

Section 2382. Misprision of treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States and having knowledge of the commission of any treason against them, conceals and does not, as soon as may be, disclose and make known the same to the President or to some judge of the United States, or to the governor or to some judge or justice of a particular State, is guilty of misprision of treason and shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than seven years, or both.

Section 2388. Activities affecting armed forces during war

(a) Whoever, when the United States is at war, willfully makes or conveys false reports or false statements with intent to interfere with the operation or success of the military or naval forces of the United States or to promote the success of its enemies; or

Whoever, when the United States is at war, willfully causes or attempts to cause insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty, in the military or naval forces of the United States, or

willfully obstructs the recruiting or enlistment service of the United States, to the injury of the service or the United States, or attempts to do so - Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

(b) If two or more persons conspire to violate subsection (a) of this section and one or more such persons do any act to effect the object of the conspiracy, each of the parties to such conspiracy shall be punished as provided in said subsection (a).

(c) Whoever harbors or conceals any person who he knows, or has reasonable grounds to believe or suspect, has committed, or is about to commit, an offense under this section, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.

(d) This section shall apply within the admiralty and maritime jurisdiction of the United States, and on the high seas, as well as within the United States.

And why won't "they" address it? Because "they" protect their own...in CLEAR violation of said law. There are bigger fish to fry...you and I. Clearly, MANY in CONgress have violated these LAWS yet, "they" are ABOVE the law. Yes? No? Maybe? Read them and decide. And they whine about Libby's commutation...smoke and mirrors.

Pelosi violated the Logan Act and cowards did nothing. All she did was to go on a Mission of Her Own Agenda, an unsanctioned trip to Israel and then Syria, an enemy Nation of the United States and Israel (our ALLY), which she BOTCHED so badly Israel was livid.

There are CONgress Critters and Lame Stream Media moguls and puppets thereof, running around committing seditious and subversive and treasonous acts all around us and COWARDS in CONgress do NOTHING? In a time of WAR?

The Censure rules need to be enforced as well.

This is a Call To Action, I suppose. Demand Justice Be Served on those bent on causing The United States harm, in the long run. Write, call, fax and email...FLOOD them like we did over the Shamnesty issue.

Don't our troops deserve better action on our part than that which we accomplished over Shamnesty?

While Senator Ted Kennedy, D-MA, has always been unhinged, his performance since the beginning of the Iraq War shows that he is becoming increasingly irresponsible, irrational, and dangerous.In a ranking member of the Senate Judicial and Armed Services Committees during a time of war, this kind of behavior poses a danger to national security. Case in point, Kennedy’s recent remarks at the Brookings Institute: “In our open society, it is essential to distinguish vigorous debate over honest differences of opinion from the repeated use of false and misleading arguments to persuade the American people. Integrity is the lifeblood of democracy. Deceit is a poison in its veins.”

As his eight-term record shows, Kennedy’s definition of “honest” has not changed since his failed attempt to have his smarter friend take his Spanish final at Harvard. His father was a notorious mob associate, Nazi sympathizer and predatory womanizer who tyrannically micro-managed the lives of his children. His mother spent much of her life either at Mass or obsessively pinning notes to everything in sight. And Ted? The runt of the litter. A puckish dumpling of a boy who was never expected to make good, until fate left him the last son standing. Then, with a slip of a wheel greased by booze, all presidential hopes and expectations were washed away in the waters of Chappaquiddick. And the dark days weren’t over by a long shot.

The death of Mary Jo Kopechne heralded two decades of Kennedy-generated tabloid fodder. Drug overdoses, failed marriages, rape trials, baby-sitter sex scandals, all capped by the tragic death of America’s beloved John Jr.: Aeschylus and Euripides would strain to come up with a better plot.

Perhaps the realization that he would never become president freed Kennedy to speak his leftist mind. Judge Robert Bork had a taste of Kennedy’s venom in the 1980s. During the Supreme Court nomination process, Kennedy stated that although the judge had abandoned his most “Neanderthal” views, his appointment would result in an America where “women would be forced into back alley abortions, blacks would sit at segregated lunch counters” and “rogue police would break down citizen’s doors.”

Judge Bork is not the only jurist Kennedy has branded with knuckle-dragging status. Last fall, he re-cycled his “Neanderthal” slur on respected Bush appointees Priscilla Owen, Janice Rogers Brown and Carolyn Kuhl. (At least he didn’t use that other “N” word like former Klansman Robert Byrd—a man Kennedy equated with the founding fathers on the Senate floor last April Fool's day. Unfortunately, the salute was no joke.)

It was also apparently not false and misleading, in Senator Kennedy’s mind, to delay the appointment of Judge Julia Gibbons in an alleged attempt to throw the 6th Circuit Court in the University of Michigan Affirmative Action case. What’s wrong with Elaine R. Jones, president of the NAACP and an interested party, asking her friend Senator Kennedy to keep a conservative judge off the court until the case was decided? Ted Kennedy won’t say. When asked for a comment at a press conference in April, he left the room. He may not be able to evade the question for much longer; the Senate Ethics Committee has received three complaints concerning the matter.

As damaging as they are, Kennedy’s unethical partisan antics on the Judiciary Committee pale when compared to the palpable harm he has done to national security over the years. The only surprise in Ted Kennedy calling Iraq “George W. Bush’s Vietnam” was that he waited as long as he did. It is one of his oldest, most worn-out rhetorical stand-bys—a known crowd pleaser for the hard-line Democrat base. In 1985, when the Reagan administration requested aid for the Contras, Kennedy couldn’t resist evoking the “Gulf of Tonkin” resolution. The Panama invasion didn’t last long enough to be compared to Vietnam. Instead, the removal of Manuel Noriega represented “long-term damage to our foreign policy, to our ability to work with other nations in Latin America, and our goal of achieving lasting democracy in the region.” Kennedy predicted that George Bush Sr.’s aggressive actions made the Sandinistas shoe-ins for the Nicaraguan election in February of 1990. He was dead wrong. As soon as the Nicaraguan people had a chance, they booted Fidel wannabe Daniel Ortega from power by a 14-point majority.

Kennedy went beyond Vietnam in the debate before the first Gulf War. According to the senator, the casualties in Southeast Asia would seem slight when compared with Desert Storm. And the liars in the Bush administration knew it beforehand. “The 45,000 body bags the Pentagon has sent to the region are all the evidence we need of the high price in lives and blood we will have to pay,” said Kennedy. And when the war ended in a matter of days, as predicted, he never apologized to the President for his paranoid insinuations and over-the-top fear-mongering. Instead, in typical Kennedy noblesse oblige fashion, he sponsored millions of dollars in resolutions granting extended medical benefits to reservists, child care for military personnel, deferred student loans and mental health services for military children. But forget about funding the B-2 stealth bomber, which would have given those troops the tools they needed in war; Kennedy voted to kill funding on that project.

By October 2003, in the debate over the authorization of the use of force in Iraq, Kennedy had again gone over-the-top. Abu Nidal was listed in the Baghdad phone book, the Iraqi regime backed Palestinian jihadist organizations with millions of dollars, and Mohamed Atta was seen meeting with members of Iraqi intelligence. And what about Ansar al-Islam and Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi? Insignificant details according to Kennedy. Saddam had no links al-Qaeda. Invading Iraq would harm our efforts to hunt down Osama Bin-Laden. A “unilateral” rush to war would only make our allies hate us, inflame the Arab masses, and de-rail the war on terror.

According to Kennedy, a war on Saddam might also cause an unprecedented humanitarian crisis with an estimated 900,000 refugees, a pandemic and an environmental disaster as Saddam lit the oilfields on fire. Kennedy even quoted General Joseph Hoar, who warned that when urban warfare broke out in Baghdad, the U.S. could run through “battalions a day at a time” and that the fighting would look like “the last fifteen minutes of 'Private Ryan.'” Not once in the debate did Senator Kennedy, the great progressive heart of the Democratic Party, mention the continued suffering of the Iraqi people under Saddam Hussein and the corrupt Oil for Food program.

As usual, history disproved Kennedy’s Cassandra-like predictions. A country of 25 million has been liberated at a cost of 788 American lives. But the process of restoring civil society to a nation brutalized by thirty years of totalitarian rule has not been easy. As expected, Ted Kennedy has taken political advantage of every bump in the road. By September 2003, Kennedy was claiming that the Iraq war was “a fraud made up in Texas to give Republicans a political boost.” In a December speech in Austin before the Texas Civil Rights Project, Kennedy claimed that Bush’s Iraq policy was enough “to make the Statue of Liberty weep.” Oh really, Senator? Tell it to Iraq’s five million Kurds.

In January 2004 at Washington’s Mayflower hotel, flanked by the grieving parents of a soldier killed in action and a disabled veteran, Kennedy fingered the real villain in America’s unjust war against Saddam—Paul Wolfowitz. Paul Wolfowitz, with his “misguided ideology” had been scheming to remove Saddam since President Bush Sr. decided not to invade Baghdad. According to Kennedy, “the President and his senior aides began the march to war in Iraq in the earliest days of the administration, long before the terrorists struck this nation on 9/11.” Should Kennedy be surprised that the Bush administration had a “plan?” It would have been irresponsible for any presidential administration not to be prepared. Support for regime change in Iraq had been a matter of public law since 1998.

In April, Kennedy finally played his trump card. George Bush had become Richard Nixon, and Iraq was Vietnam. “It is said that truth is the first casualty of war,” said Kennedy at the Brookings Institute. “But this administration’s dubious and devious behavior is not limited to war and peace.”

It would be wishful thinking to expect Ted Kennedy to support a Republican president in war. But is it asking too much for the Senator to make sure his allegations are reality based? Americans are outraged when al-Jazeera broadcasts rabid anti-American propaganda to the Arab street. Yet, what should we expect when the grand old man of the Democratic Party is feeding them sound bites? Slinging specious, unsubstantiated charges at the Bush administration erodes American credibility, props up anti-Americanism worldwide, inflames fanatical elements in Arab world and endangers American lives. Is it just a by-product of “vigorous, honest debate” to Senator Kennedy when Shiite thug Muqtada Al-Sadh picks up on his empty Vietnam analogy and uses it as an excuse to slaughter American soldiers?

And it just keeps getting worse. On May 10th , even before essential hard facts were known about the homemade pornographic images from Abu-Ghraib, Senator Kennedy gave the world the following assessment: “On March 19, 2004, President Bush asked: ‘Who would prefer that Saddam's torture chambers still be open?’ Shamefully, we now learn that Saddam's torture chambers reopened under new management, U.S. management.” It would be unfair to place any blame for the gruesome, sadistic murder of Nicholas Berg on Senator Kennedy’s shoulders, just as it was unfair of Senator Kennedy to deal out responsibility for the actions of few sick rogues on President Bush and Secretary Rumsfeld.

What is plain, however, is that by claiming that prison abuse results from administration policy without a shred of proof to back up the charge, Kennedy sets up a dangerous form of moral equivalency that helps to recruit terrorists and justifies the heinous, inhumane actions of al-Zarqawi in the psychotic minds of Islamofascists. Even Kennedy’s protégé, John Kerry, now sees a need to distance himself from his number one cheerleader. In an interview on the morning following the outrageous remarks, Kerry reassured America that he did not approve of the way Kennedy had “framed” the situation.

Ted Kennedy is right. Deceit is poison in the veins of democracy. He should know. The man honored as a senior statesman at the beginning of George W. Bush’s administration for his bi-partisan efforts to improve America’s educational system is now, in a time of grave national crisis, spreading a brand of partisan political poison that would shame Honey Fitz’s dirtiest back-room ward heeler. His speeches have become the ravings of a man who has lost touch with the moral implications of his actions. Senator Kennedy, before you harm America any further, please get help.

Our Media...Morons At Best

A Tale of Two Papers: OUR MEDIA

Late start here today, but I wanted to get my ducks in a row, so to speak and as I start my day off reading the news, I see two of our mainstream media papers fighting out the battle that we, here in America, seem to be battling also, about Iraq.

First I am going to start with the New York Times and an op-ed piece that will be lining some birdcage by the end of the day called “The Road Home” in which the writer finally admits the chaos and devastation that would follow a premature withdrawal, including genocide, and claims that would be preferable to fighting until we win.

That conversation must be candid and focused. Americans must be clear that Iraq, and the region around it, could be even bloodier and more chaotic after Americans leave. There could be reprisals against those who worked with American forces, further ethnic cleansing, even genocide. Potentially destabilizing refugee flows could hit Jordan and Syria. Iran and Turkey could be tempted to make power grabs. Perhaps most important, the invasion has created a new stronghold from which terrorist activity could proliferate.

A couple paragraphs above that he writer then goes into complete intellectual dishonesty by making this statement:

Continuing to sacrifice the lives and limbs of American soldiers is wrong.

Let me take a second here to remind the author of this “opinion piece” that our troops are reenlisting in record numbers, 588 of them on July 4th, 2007 alone, in Iraq.

A total of 588 troops signed up for another stint, according to a U.S. military statement, while 161 soldiers became naturalized American citizens. The ceremonies took place at Camp Victory, the sprawling American headquarters at the western end of the Iraqi capital.

The troops who have been in Iraq fighting, understand the importance of our fight there as well as our humanitarian efforts to build schools and help the Iraqi achieve the freedom they overwhelmingly asked for by showing up to vote in their first elections to the tune of 12 million people.

They keep reenlisting.This is something that the writer of the NYT bird liner piece will never understand because the troops are there and are witness to the progress and successes and are stating in no uncertain terms, that they can and will succeed in their mission and they keep reenlisting because they want to be a part of helping the Iraqis achieve independence.

In a starkly contrasting piece, the SAME PAPER, the New York Times, tells us of some major successes. Obviously the opinion writer doesn’t read the copy from the reporters showing the type of progress that is being seen on the ground in Iraq. (Even though the progress piece came out two days before the opinion piece)

Using his Iraqi partners to pick out the insurgents and uncover the bombs they had seeded along the cratered roads, Captain Richards’s soldiers soon apprehended more than 100 militants, including several low-level emirs. The Iraqis called themselves the Local Committee; Captain Richards dubbed them the Kit Carson scouts.

“It is the only way that we can keep Al Qaeda out,” said Captain Richards, who operates from a former Iraqi police station in the Buhritz sector of the city that still bears the sooty streaks from the day militants set it aflame last year.

The American military has struggled for more than four years to train and equip the Iraqi Army. But here the local Sunni residents, including a number of former insurgents from the 1920s Revolution Brigades, have emerged as a linchpin of the American strategy.

Which brings me to Wapo piece called “Leave Iraq and Brace for a Bigger Bloodbath“, where unlike the opinion piece in the NYT, the writer of this piece understands that quitting because the fight is hard, is not an option we should be even contemplating.

Iraqis call Ali Hassan al-Majeed “Chemical Ali,” and few wept when the notorious former general received five death sentences last month for ordering the use of nerve agents against his government’s Kurdish citizens in the late 1980s. His trial came as a reckoning and a reminder — summoning up the horrors of Saddam Hussein’s rule even as it underscored the way today’s heated Iraq debates in Washington have left the key issue of human rights on the sidelines. People of goodwill can certainly disagree over how to handle Iraq, but human rights should be part of any responsible calculus. Unfortunately, some leaders continue to play down the gross violations in Iraq under Hussein’s republic of fear and ignore the potential for a human rights catastrophe should the United States withdraw.

THIS is what our soldiers and our President understand and this is what the Democratic politicians refuse to acknowledge.

Rest assured that if we were to have a precipitate withdrawal, the NYT as well as all the other news media will eagerly show us the ramification in every days news, the beheadings, the torture of those that sided with us to help rid themselves of al-Qeada and insurgents. Dead babies would fill our screens on the nightly news. We would see pictures of leveled villages where whole families and towns would be wiped out.

The humanitarian catastrophe would be laid directly at our doorstep for the world to see.

Headlines would include but not be limited to “Americans abandon Iraqi children to a fate worse than death” and things like that and they would be right.

Wapo goes on to give us some facts and figures we do not often hear from our MSM:

For most people, life under totalitarianism is slavery with no possibility of escape. That is why despite the carnage in Iraq, Iraqis are consistently less pessimistic about the present and more optimistic about the future of their country than Americans are. In a face-to-face national poll of 5,019 people conducted this spring by Opinion Research Business, a British market-research firm, only 27 percent of Iraqis said they believed that “that their country is actually in a state of civil war,” and by nearly 2 to 1 (49 percent to 26 percent), the Iraqis surveyed said they preferred life under their new government to life under the old tyranny. That is why, at a time when many Americans are abandoning the vision of a democratic Iraq, most Iraqis still cling to the hope of a better future. They know that under Hussein, there was no hope.

Of course, Hussein’s removal has created a host of difficult strategic challenges, and numerous human rights atrocities have been committed since his ouster. But let us be under no illusion of what life under Hussein was like. He was a mass murderer who tortured children in front of their parents, gassed Kurds, slaughtered Shiites, started two wars with his neighbors and launched Scud missiles into downtown Riyadh and Tel Aviv. The price for the stability that Hussein supposedly brought to the region was mass graves, hundreds of thousands of dead in Iraq, and terrorism and war outside it. Difficult as the challenges are today — with Iran and Syria trying to stymie democracy in Iraq, with al-Qaeda turning Iraq into the central battleground in its holy war of terrorism against the free world, and with sectarian militias bent on murder and mayhem — there is still hope that tomorrow may be better.

No one can know for sure whether President Bush’s “surge” of U.S. troops in Iraq will succeed. But those who believe that human rights should play a central role in international affairs should be doing everything in their power to maximize the chances that it will. For one of the consequences of failure could well be catastrophe.

When did politics become more important than a childs life? When did political posturing become more important than liberty?

Finally, when did we, as a country, become so cynical that genocide of innocent men, women and children, is more appropriate than an all volunteer military fighting for the safety, liberty and ability of what should be the Iraqi’s RIGHT to live free of tyranny?

For those that argue that life under Saddam was better than life now in Iraq, they ignore the Iraqi’s that say 2 to 1 that it was not.

Tell these victims that, or explain to their families how you justify your opinion.

Oh wait…you can’t, most of their families died in that same chemical attack.

That picture above will be the type of things we see every single night on our news if we should leave before we have accomplished what we set out to do.

Our soldiers understand it is THESE children we are there to help. There to assure that these kids will grow up knowing the freedom that we, as Americans, take for granted.

America is the only hope these children have and only a cold hearted bastard would deny them the right to live free.

Americans’ Confidence in Congress at All-Time Low

The percentage of Americans with a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in Congress is at 14%, the lowest in Gallup’s history of this measure — and the lowest of any of the 16 institutions tested in this year’s Confidence in Institutions survey. It is also one of the lowest confidence ratings for any institution tested over the last three decades.

Gallup’s annual update on Americans’ confidence in institutions shows that confidence ratings are generally down across the board compared with last year. The public’s confidence ratings in several institutions, including Congress, are now at all-time low points in Gallup’s history of this measure. These low ratings reflect the generally sour mood of the public at this time.

Of the 16 societal institutions tested in Gallup’s 2007 update, Americans express the most confidence in the military. They have the least confidence in HMOs and Congress. Americans have much more confidence in “small” business than in “big” business.
