Here are the fatal facts nobody wants to acknowledge; I will do it because I don't give a damn who I piss off:

1. Islam is permanent war.
2. Islam is terrorism.
3. Islam is genocide.
   
4. Permanent war, terrorism and genocide will continue so long as one Muslim is left alive on the face of the earth.
5. Peace process = surrender.
6. Restraint = weakness.
7. Good will gestures = appeasement.
8. Concessions = appeasement
9. Peace talks = surrender.
10. Land for peace = societal suicide.
11. Peace is obtained through victory.
12. Victory is the extinction of Islam.

#4 is a bit of a reach for me but the rest? Absolutely.

Tunisian Poet and Civil Rights Activist Basit Bin Hasan on Suicide Bombers Who Attack Funeral Processions


In a July 13, 2007 article on the liberal Arab website Al-Awan, Tunisian poet Basit Bin Hasan, who is a former director of the Tunis-based Arab Institute for Human Rights, wrote that for some in Arab society killing had become a goal unto itself, and that in order to fight the phenomenon of suicide bombings and other manifestations of disregard for human life, Arab societies must overcome their "moral indolence" and reconsider the meaning of life and death.

The following are excerpts from the article:(1)

"The Killing of Humans with Cold, Organized Violence Has Become a Goal Unto Itself"

"This is going on in Iraq, and in places closer to us than we imagine: suicide bombers are targeting the funeral processions of people who were themselves victims of previous suicide attacks.

"In one single motion, and with rare determination, they blow up their own bodies amidst the bodies of the living and the bodies of the dead. In these attacks they are targeting not [only] the areas of life; they are targeting as well the area that separates life from the afterlife – the time of death and mourning. In this kind of suicide, they have united the killing of the living with the killing of the dead.

"They impair our moral conceptions of life and death, and open the gates to a 'new' time – a time of nothingness, in which suicide attacks turn into an absolute and uninterrupted trajectory, divorced from historical goals, and in which the killing of humans with cold, organized violence becomes a goal unto itself.

"Thus the killing of the living and the dead in suicide attacks targeting funeral processions is a frightening phenomenon that boggles the mind, and which, at this point in history, calls for penetrating intellectual and moral attention."


Our Intellectuals Have Recourse to a Logic of Perpetual Justification of Suicide Attacks

"Is life worth living? Is the goal of life to propagate new and different lives and to attain a form of collective happiness in the world of men? Or is the worth of man the destruction of humanity through the destruction of himself and others? And what is the place of death in the path to recognition of the importance of life?

"Many philosophies, both ancient and modern, have attempted to consider politics through these fundamental ethical questions, [but] our intellectuals are expert in ignoring them and marginalizing them. They have persisted in their feeble and monotonous discussions of suicide attacks and in having recourse to the logic of perpetual justification and tolerance for the intolerable.

"At times, they base themselves on an absolute concept of 'resistance,' without any profound reflection on the multiple meanings of this concept and its historical specificity; at other times, they base themselves on the fact that there is no clear and internationally accepted definition of terrorism... as though the absence of a definition for any given phenomenon can permit opening the gates of moral meaninglessness..."


"The Demon in Man Has Escaped From Its Bottle"

"The Arab intellectuals who have defended suicide attacks, whether openly, or through sly and cunning rhetoric, by describing them as an absolute right that aims to achieve political goals, have not only taken part in justifying crimes of destruction against living beings; they have also contributed in keeping [the question of] the meaning of life and death in our societies from being raised.

"The justification of suicide attacks by intellectuals, who are considered authorities, and through the authority of language and the media, has opened gates of fear that will not be shut before our societies are brought to experience the meaning of nothingness and obliteration in their absolute forms.

"[Now] everyone can kill or be killed: the 'resisting' suicide attacker, who has moved on from killing the enemy to killing all; the extremist politician, who has moved on from fighting he who differs from him politically to killing the society that differs from him; people who kill [other] people frantically attempting to face up to tragedies of life and [its] narrow straits; and the state, over which there is no supervision, and which has established a system to lay siege to all and to murder them, in institutions that monitor daily life.

"Thus the demon in man has escaped from its bottle, and everything has become possible. The human body, which used to be ruled by a biological memory that defined the path from birth to death, and by a moral memory that defined the meaning of its experience in existence, has been left in complete nakedness. It has become a body without memory, sufficient unto itself, no longer to struggle for the rule of memory and to plunge into the risks of life, but which rather [exists] in order to destroy itself and others. Destruction has become the life of the body and the meaninglessness that denies the meaning of life and death.

"Today we see that the suicide attacks, which our intellectuals imagined were a temporary means to achieve political benefit, have turned into a fixed institution of their own, with their own particular logic, which is the death of all logic.

"The number of these attacks has risen in a number of our countries, and their forms and methods have become varied. Men and women throw their exploding bodies into armies armed with the latest achievements of destructive weapons technology. Children and youth are led by adults to places where they will kill themselves and kill others. Unexpected suicide bombings hit cafes, hotels, restaurants, engagement parties, government institutions, the media, mosques, churches, and means of transport.

"Now, the attacks are, by striking funeral processions, searching out regions that we naively imagined were unassailable.... [But] some sons of our societies have transgressed all boundaries and have written in the ink of their corpses the dreadful book of nothingness.


"The Objectification of the Self and the Other... Is What Makes Any Crime Permissible"

"The objectification of the self and the other, and the stripping of beings from their humanity, is what makes any crime permissible, no matter how hideous or absurd.

"The suicide attackers have, in this great act of objectification, turned into new gods with absolute control over life and death. These black gods, who have lost their ties to history, decide, through the killing of their bodies which no longer mean anything to them, when and how the lives of others will come to an end.

"We are no longer just facing extremists motivated by political and religious goals. We have entered a phase in which the narcissist suicide attackers have gone beyond Islamic conceptions of life and death.

"The phenomenon of increasing suicide attacks and the steadily multiplying groups of suicide bombers is a historic predicament that raises grave questions as to the extent of our dealing morally and responsibly with issues of life and death in our societies.


"Enough of This Destructive Insanity"

"Faced with the phenomenon of absolute killing and violence that are sweeping our societies, some are still repeating that there are limits to the nothingness surrounding us, and that our desire to [survive] will... stop the collapse, and that an absolute conscience will arise from our dark reality and say 'enough of this destructive insanity,' and will bring back society's desire for life...

"The destructive tendency to which the suicide attacks have led us... is one among a number of other manifestations that have taken root in our societies and that are no less frightening...

"These manifestations, and others [like them], are just lead-ins to a greater worry that has settled into what we call our lives – a worry over an uncertain future, and a worry over our inability to define the forces that rule our fates and decide [matters of] our life and death.

"To start emerging from the tunnel [requires] confronting the general moral indolence and opening a large-scale dialogue on the meaning of life and death in our societies..."

E-Jihadists Take Advantage of Net Technology — Good and Bad

The arrest of the so-called “jihadist James Bond” is putting the spotlight on how terrorists are using the Internet. Like other criminals, terrorists are taking advantage of zombie techniques, but they’re also simply putting the amazing capabilities of Google and Web 2.0 startups to nefarious use, TechNewsWorld reports.

Many experts quoted in the story reason that terrorists must be using the Internet. “We know criminals are exploiting technology to further their criminal activities, and there’s no reason to believe terrorists aren’t taking advantage of those same technologies,” FBI spokesperson Paul Bresson said. But there’s precious little real information on how they’re using it.

“The story of the presence of terrorist groups in cyberspace has barely begun to be told,” Gabriel Weimann, senior fellow at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and professor of communication at Haifa University in Israel, concludes in a 2004 report on the subject.

“When policymakers, journalists and academics have discussed the combination of terrorism and the Internet, they have focused on the overrated threat posed by cyber-terrorism or cyber-warfare and largely ignored the numerous uses that terrorists make of the Internet every day,” he explains.

Defense Dept. researchers estimate there are 5,000 radical websites. “Most are chat rooms, and some are used for command and control using some sort of coded language,” said Frank Preston, a researcher with the University of Wisconsin.

The United States Institute of Peace, an organization created by Congress in 1984, categorized terrorists’ uses of the Internet into eight categories: psychological warfare; generating publicity and disseminating propaganda; data mining; fund-raising; recruitment and mobilization; networking; sharing information; and planning and coordination.

“The United States and many of its core allies have traditionally thought of intelligence gathering — or the ability to collect information on an adversary, analyze it and share it — as the providence of developed nations,” Gartner’s Herbert Strauss explained. “But the Internet provides the ability to do all of those things, and it’s available for bad guys as well as good.”

Among the Internet goodies terrorists may be putting to use:

• Google Earth, which provides must of the detail needed to plan an attack.
• Online video games like “Quest for Bush,” in which players fight Americans and proceed to different levels including “Jihad Growing Up” and “Americans’ Hell.”
• YouTube, which unwittingly hosts radical manuals and speeches. “Just look under the term ‘Halaqa’ for a sampling,” says UW’s Preston.
• Music videos, such as “Dirty Kuffar” (nonbelievers), with rap music and images of Muslims being killed by Americans.
• Online education, which takes the form of virtual training camps. According to the Department of Homeland Security, these “(reach) a much wider audience and (limit) the intelligence communities’ abilities to track individuals transiting into these camps.”

Terrorists borrow the bad stuff, too.

“Organizations with sloppy server monitors are often ‘zombied’” — or taken over remotely — “for jihadist purposes,” Preston said. “E-jihadists,” as he calls them, then use these zombie servers to host their training manual.

Of all the nefarious purposes terrorists use the Internet for, data mining and identity theft by those seeking entry into other countries are perhaps the most insidious of all.

“One Internet user’s sloppy handling of personal data could become a passport for a jihadist,” Preston explained.

Summer of chaos ahead as airports step up terror shield

More important, they also helped to draw away any critical examination from the real engine of our violence: Islamic theology.

The attempts to cause mass destruction in London and Glasgow are so reminiscent of other recent British Islamic extremist plots that they are likely to have been carried out by my former peers.

And as with previous terror attacks, people are again saying that violence carried out by Muslims is all to do with foreign policy.

For example, on Saturday on Radio 4’s Today programme, the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, said: “What all our intelligence shows about the opinions of disaffected young Muslims is the main driving force is not Afghanistan, it is mainly Iraq.”

I left the British Jihadi Network in February 2006 because I realised that its members had simply become mindless killers. But if I were still fighting for their cause, I’d be laughing once again.

Mohammad Sidique Khan, the leader of the July 7 bombings, and I were both part of the network - I met him on two occasions.

And though many British extremists are angered by the deaths of fellow Muslim across the world, what drove me and many others to plot acts of extreme terror within Britain and abroad was a sense that we were fighting for the creation of a revolutionary worldwide Islamic state that would dispense Islamic justice.

If we were interested in justice, you may ask, how did this continuing violence come to be the means of promoting such a (flawed) Utopian goal?

How do Islamic radicals justify such terror in the name of their religion?

There isn’t enough room to outline everything here, but the foundation of extremist reasoning rests upon a model of the world in which you are either a believer or an infidel.

Formal Islamic theology, unlike Christian theology, does not allow for the separation of state and religion: they are considered to be one and the same.

For centuries, the reasoning of Islamic jurists has set down rules of interaction between Dar ul-Islam (the Land of Islam) and Dar ul-Kufr (the Land of Unbelief) to cover almost every matter of trade, peace and war.

But what radicals and extremists do is to take this two steps further. Their first step has been to argue that, since there is no pure Islamic state, the whole world must be Dar ul-Kufr (The Land of Unbelief).

Step two: since Islam must declare war on unbelief, they have declared war upon the whole world.

Along with many of my former peers, I was taught by Pakistani and British radical preachers that this reclassification of the globe as a Land of War (Dar ul-Harb) allows any Muslim to destroy the sanctity of the five rights that every human is granted under Islam: life, wealth, land, mind and belief.

In Dar ul-Harb, anything goes, including the treachery and cowardice of attacking civilians.

The notion of a global battlefield has been a source of friction for Muslims living in Britain.

For decades, radicals have been exploiting the tensions between Islamic theology and the modern secular state - typically by starting debate with the question: “Are you British or Muslim?”

But the main reason why radicals have managed to increase their following is because most Muslim institutions in Britain just don’t want to talk about theology.

They refuse to broach the difficult and often complex truth that Islam can be interpreted as condoning violence against the unbeliever - and instead repeat the mantra that Islam is peace and hope that all of this debate will go away.

This has left the territory open for radicals to claim as their own. I should know because, as a former extremist recruiter, I repeatedly came across those who had tried to raise these issues with mosque authorities only to be banned from their grounds.

Every time this happened it felt like a moral and religious victory for us because it served as a recruiting sergeant for extremism.

Outside Britain, there are those who try to reverse this two-step revisionism.

A handful of scholars from the Middle East have tried to put radicalism back in the box by saying that the rules of war devised so long ago by Islamic jurists were always conceived with the existence of an Islamic state in mind, a state which would supposedly regulate jihad in a responsible Islamic fashion.

In other words, individual Muslims don’t have the authority to go around declaring global war in the name of Islam.

But there is a more fundamental reasoning that has struck me as a far more potent argument because it involves recognising the reality of the world: Muslims don’t actually live in the bipolar world of the Middle Ages any more.

The fact is that Muslims in Britain are citizens of this country. We are no longer migrants in a Land of Unbelief.

For my generation, we were born here, raised here, schooled here, we work here and we’ll stay here.

But more than that, on a historically unprecedented scale, Muslims in Britain have been allowed to assert their religious identity through clothing, the construction of mosques, the building of cemeteries and equal rights in law.

However, it isn’t enough for responsible Muslims to say that, because they feel at home in Britain, they can simply ignore those passages of the Koran which instruct on killing unbelievers.

Because so many in the Muslim community refuse to challenge centuries-old theological arguments, the tensions between Islamic theology and the modern world grow larger every day.

I believe that the issue of terrorism can be easily demystified if Muslims and non-Muslims start openly to discuss the ideas that fuel terrorism.

Crucially, the Muslim community in Britain must slap itself awake from its state of denial and realise there is no shame in admitting the extremism within our families, communities and worldwide co-religionists.

If our country is going to take on radicals and violent extremists, Muslim scholars must go back to the books and come forward with a refashioned set of rules and a revised understanding of the rights and responsibilities of Muslims whose homes and souls are firmly planted in what I’d like to term the Land of Co-existence.

And when this new theological territory is opened up, Western Muslims will be able to liberate themselves from defunct models of the world, rewrite the rules of interaction and perhaps we will discover that the concept of killing in the name of Islam is no more than an anachronism.

Now about Islam and terror which is associated with it. Islam has earned infamy not because of the actions of Laden as Tanvir Jafri would have us believe. Jihad is indispensable part of Islam. Islam will cease to exist the moment Muslims refuse to support the doctrine of Jihad. As one born and brought up in a respectable Muslim Qazi family of Assam, I must confess with a heavy heart that the repulsive doctrine of Jihad compelled me to shun Islam.

Al-Jihad or Holy War in Islam is the obligation of all Muslims to fight against unbelievers or non-Muslims. Holy War is an indispensable part of the Sharia and will remain alive and active until the entire world submits to Allah. Islam, in essence, means Holy War. In the Islamic disunion created through the misery of the ‘unbelievers’ in Hell and the bliss of the Muslims in Paradise, the tension of Holy War will continue forever and ever. This unpalatable doctrine of Jihad is one of the many reasons why I rejected Islam in favour of Christianity.

All of the emphasis was supplied by a Gold Star Mother who emailed the article to me. The article is too short to cover the entire subject, and is, in some matters too ambiguous. The excerpt reproduced above tells the reader how one apostate views the core value of Islam. It is clear to me that the doctrine of Jihad was the major factor in the author’s conversion.

A Google search of the author’s name turned up 38 hits, of which at least two were to the article cited above. I found one which appeared to be a criticism of Pope Benedict’s statement, but which turned out to be out of context. It is from the Mail & Guardian, Sept. ‘06.

Secret Document: U.S. Fears Terror ‘Spectacular’ Planned

A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror “spectacular” this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document.

“This is reminiscent of the warnings and intelligence we were getting in the summer of 2001,” the official told ABCNews.com.

Nice. Just dandy. This is getting ridiculous.

Why do I say that?

Well, lets see, we had the failed attempts to blow up cars in London, the ramming into the Glasgow airport with the spectacular fireshow added in.

We see the UK has 7 people under arrest, yes, Islamic extremists,in connection with the above aforementioned terror plot and they are hunting for more and Yemen had a suicide bomber kill 7 or 8 people.

We also see that there are warnings to London that more bombings are on the way.

London terror analysis: Online manual on car bombs instructs terrorists ‘not to park illegally’

The three botched terror attacks launched in Britain in the past 72 hours bear all the hallmarks of first-time British-born jihadis attempting to emulate al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Multiple car bombs designed to slaughter hundreds of civilians and strikes against critical infrastructure are daily events in Baghdad, and al-Qaeda in Iraq has decided to put its experience in mass murder on the internet for the benefit of its members around the world, in the form of an online training course on bomb attacks.

The bombing manual, available in Arabic on a jihadi website, contains a number of key pieces of advice for car bombers. It instructs terrorists not to park their vehicles illegally, and advises the car bomber to leave the scene quietly, if he plans to detonate the vehicle from a distance, in what al-Qaeda terms “non-martyrdom operations.”

The manual details precise locations inside the vehicle where explosives should be placed, and recommends various targerts such as “cinemas” and “stadiums.”

Other forms of explosives, the guide says, should be aimed at “groupings demonstrations, celebrations or festivals.”

The guide calls on terrorists to “monitor and identify the route of the enemy, how they leave a cinema or a stadium at the end of a game,” and also gives instructions on how to carry out suicide car bombings.

“Drive the car on the road passing the crowd. If a car passes near these places, it could draw the attention of the enemy, and the car could be inspected,” the guide said. It went on to explain in detail how suicide car bombers can fool security guards, and suggests a correct speed to drive a vehicle packed with explosives into a target.

Jules Crittenden points out that many successful attacks were often precceeded by failed attempts, they learn from their mistakes, too bad we don’t, as witnessed by Brainless at Breakfast.

A series of bungled and seemingly inept attacks — to include the Fort Dix and JFK Int’l plots along with the failed British fire-bomb attempts — doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of not screwing it up, or that the kinds of things we’ve seen can’t be highly effective, or that they are even the main events. Successful attacks are often preceded by failures. The growing trend of what appear to be al-Qaeda-inspired local amateurs itself represents a disturbing evolution. Those British fire bombs are now being viewed as inefficent weapons, ineffectively deployed. But 9/11, the major catastrophe of our time, was carried out with inefficient weapons that could have proven ineffective under any number of alternative scenarios.

All of which gets us back to the old truth we all know now, even if we don’t really think it will ever apply to us. London, Glasgow, JFK and Dix are just reminders. Glasgow and the pine barrens of New Jersey? Fort Dix is in the middle of nowhere. It can happen anywhere, at any time. Which is why you need to be alert, and need to have already thought about what you’re going to do. Whether you can or even get a chance to is what you find out later.

Good suggestion Jules and in that same vein, now would be the time to remind people of the 7 signs of terrorist activity.

There is a file showing the 7 signs to watch for terror activity, it is a word file and everyone should read it.

1. Surveillance

If there is a specific target that terrorists have chosen, that target area will be most likely be observed during the planning phase of the operation. They do this in order to determine the strengths, weaknesses, and number of personnel that may respond to an incident. Routes to and from the target are usually established during the surveillance phase. Therefore, it is important to take note of such things as someone recording or monitoring activities, drawing diagrams or annotating on maps, the use of vision-enhancing devices, having in one’s possession floor plans or blue prints of places such as high-tech firms, financial institutions, or Government / military facilities. Any of these surveillance-type acts MAY be an indicator that something just is not right. Nothing is too menial and should not be discarded as such.

2. Elicitation

The second sign or signal is elicitation. What this means is anyone attempting to gain information about a place, person, or operation. An example is someone attempting to gain knowledge about a critical infrastructure like a power plant, water reservoir, or a maritime port. Terrorists may attempt to research bridge and tunnel usage, make unusual inquiries concerning shipments, or inquire as to how a military base operates. They may also attempt to place “key” people in sensitive work locations.

3. Tests of Security

Tests of Security are another area in which terrorists would attempt to gather data. This is usually conducted by driving by the target, moving into sensitive areas and observing security or law enforcement response. They would be interested in the time in which it takes to respond to an incident or the routes taken to a specific location. They may also try to penetrate physical security barriers or procedures in order to assess strengths and Weaknesses. They often gain legitimate employment at key locations in order to monitor day-to-day activities. In any event, they may try to gain this knowledge in order to make their mission or scheme more effective.

4. Acquiring Supplies

Another area to be cognizant of is anyone acquiring supplies. It may be a case where someone is purchasing or stealing explosives, weapons, or ammunition. It could also be someone storing harmful chemicals or chemical equipment. Terrorists would also find it useful to have in their possession law enforcement equipment and identification, military uniforms and decals, as well as flight passes, badges or even flight manuals. If they can’t find the opportunity to steal these types of things, they may try to photocopy ID’s, attempt to make passports or other forms of identification by counterfeiting. Possessing any of these would make it easier for one to gain entrance into secured or usually prohibited areas.

5. Suspicious People Who Don’t Belong

A fifth pre-incident indicator is observing suspicious people who just “don’t belong.” This does not mean we should profile individuals but what it does mean is that we should profile behaviors. This includes suspicious border crossings and stowaways aboard a ship or people jumping ship in a port. It may mean having someone in a workplace, building, neighborhood, or business establishment that does not fit in because of their demeanor, their language usage or unusual questions they are asking. You, as an officer, may respond to a complaint that may appear to be a routine investigation but results in something much bigger in scope.

6. Dry Runs

Another sign to watch for is “dry runs.” Before execution of the final operation or plan, a practice session will be run to work out the flaws and unanticipated problems. A dry run may very well be the heart of a planning stage of a terrorist act. If you find someone monitoring a police radio frequency and recording emergency response times, you may very well be observing a “dry run.” Another element of this activity could include mapping out routes and determining the timing of traffic lights and flow. It is during this stage that it is actually our best chance to intercept and stop an attack. Multiple dry runs are normally conducted at or near the target area.

7. Deploying Assets / Getting Into Position

The seventh and final sign or signal to look for is someone deploying assets or getting into position. This is a person’s last chance to alert authorities before the terrorist act occurs.

It is also important to remember that pre-incident indicators may come months or even years apart. Therefore, it is extremely important to document every fragment of information, no matter how insignificant it may appear, and forward this information.

The aforementioned suspicious activities should be immediately reported to the MTA Police Department, Interagency Counterterrorism Task Force at (646) 252-1050.
