I'm weary of seeing news stories about wounded soldiers and assertions of "support" for the troops mixed with suggestions of the futility of our military efforts in Iraq. Why aren't there more accounts of what the troops actually do? How about narrations of individual battles and skirmishes, of their ever-evolving interactions with Iraqi troops and locals in Baghdad and Anbar province, and of increasingly resourceful "patterning" of terrorist networks that goes on daily in tactical operations centers?

The sad and often unspoken truth of the matter is this: Americans have been conditioned less to understand Iraq's complex military reality than to feel sorry for those who are part of it.

But exceptions don't quite cut it amidst the barrage of "news," which too often descends into therapy for those who are not fighting, rather than matter-of-fact stories related by those who are.

As one battalion commander complained to me, in words repeated by other soldiers and marines: "Has anyone noticed that we now have a volunteer Army? I'm a warrior. It's my job to fight." Every journalist has a different network of military contacts. Mine come at me with the following theme: We want to be admired for our technical proficiency -- for what we do, not for what we suffer. We are not victims. We are privileged.

Media frenzies are ignited when American troops are either the perpetrators of acts resulting in victimhood, or are victims themselves. Meanwhile, individual soldiers daily performing complicated and heroic deeds barely fit within the strictures of news stories as they are presently defined. This is why the sporadic network and cable news features on heroic soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan comes across as so hokey. After all, the last time such reports were considered "news" was during World War II and the Korean War.

Read the rest of the article and you will see why the theoretical "peace activists" are not "peace activists" by any stretch of the imagination. They are weak-spirited, weak-kneed, thin-skinned whiners that deserve no more attention than a spoiled brat should receive.

As a Warrior, no longer in uniform, I learned to recognize the Fraud Warrior. There are many, albeit a scant few in the grand scheme of things, join the military for the benefits and the gravitas of a man or woman in uniform. The educational benefits are pretty much second to none. The health care while serving is first class. Those that join with the intention of never actually "fighting", are suffering from delusions of grandeur.

Once the Oaths of Service are spoken, sworn to and signed, ALL personal "feelings" are second rate. IAW the UCMJ, a military member is the property of the United States Government, plain and simple. That point is sent home several times before the oaths are administered. We ALL volunteered and we ALL were told and made to understand that swearing the oaths and donning the uniform of military service, we were henceforth and for the duration(s) of our sworn service to God, Flag and Country, expected to give our all up to and including our lives.

We were not guaranteed a right to opt out of a war. We were not offered the luxury of picking and choosing the fights we may be sent to fight. This is what I find most sadly laughable when I hear one of the cowards of Vets For Peace ramble on and on...we call them the Wonder Warriors. Sure, some have actually seen combat and it scared them to the point that they have to hide behind the likes of Soltz to get some courage up to prattle and yammer on in a vain attempt to hide their disappointments in themselves because they have to justify their hidden fears...to themselves and they cannot; I can see it in their eyes, even though they hide behind their dark sunglasses.

I don't know anyone that has seen combat that wasn't scared as scared could ever get, myself included. Lead and steel projectiles hurtling towards your general or specific direction is something one will never for ever forget and at times one can still hear the action echoing in the memory caches we carry with us forever and ever...some of us still can smell the smells and taste the tastes.

The True Warriors know and knew the risks we took and take to honor our Oaths of Service and carry those oaths to our graves. We, unlike the Wonder Warriors, don't discard our oaths when we discard the uniform. We, unlike the Wonder Warriors, have a high self-esteem and are proud to have served and proud of those that still do.

I am ashamed for the Vets For Peace in that they have betrayed their Oaths Of Service and have gotten caught up in the emotional fervor of cowardice and they found a venue in which to color their "afraidness" a different color.

I spit on them for betraying their oaths and those still fighting but are still fighting, going back for tour after tour. Cowardice under fire, when one is spineless, quits and whines and produces venomous rhetoric to mask their cowardice. Bravery comes to play when one is a coward or is scared and does it anyway because he or she knows that someone must do it and the costs of not doing it is far greater for all concerned.

Peace Activists my ass.

President Bush vetoed, as he warned, the over expansion of a fatally flawed and ignorant bill which would do more damage than good. This sad attempt of federalized health care cannot and will not stand.

Are you paying attention?

I heard Reid whine today that all anyone has to do is read the bill and see what it does. Most of have read some of it. Others have read ALL of it. Have YOU, "mister" ReidCo?

Message to the House of Representatives
TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:

I am returning herewith without my approval H.R. 976, the "Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007," because this legislation would move health care in this country in the wrong direction.

The original purpose of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) was to help children whose families cannot afford private health insurance, but do not qualify for Medicaid, to get the coverage they need. My Administration strongly supports reauthorization of SCHIP. That is why I proposed last February a 20 percent increase in funding for the program over 5 years.

This bill would shift SCHIP away from its original purpose and turn it into a program that would cover children from some families of four earning almost $83,000 a year. In addition, under this bill, government coverage would displace private health insurance for many children. If this bill were enacted, one out of every three children moving onto government coverage would be moving from private coverage. The bill also does not fully fund all its new spending, obscuring the true cost of the bill's expansion of SCHIP, and it raises taxes on working Americans.

Because the Congress has chosen to send me a bill that moves our health care system in the wrong direction, I must veto it. I hope we can now work together to produce a good bill that puts poorer children first, that moves adults out of a program meant for children, and that does not abandon the bipartisan tradition that marked the enactment of SCHIP. Our goal should be to move children who have no health insurance to private coverage, not to move children who already have private health insurance to government coverage.

Washington, DC-Senate Democrats today sent the following letter to Mark P. Mays, CEO of Clear Channel Communications, calling on him to publicly repudiate Rush Limbaugh's characterization of troops who speak out against the Iraq war as "phony soldiers." Despite recent Republican comments condemning verbal attacks on our troops, when given the opportunity to join us in signing this letter, not a single one did so.

The text of the letter is below and attached:

Dear Mr. Mays,

At the time we sign this letter, 3,808 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq, and another 28,009 have been wounded. 160,000 others awoke this morning on foreign sand, far from home, to face the danger and uncertainty of another day at war.

Although Americans of goodwill debate the merits of this war, we can all agree that those who serve with such great courage deserve our deepest respect and gratitude. That is why Rush Limbaugh's recent characterization of troops who oppose the war as "phony soldiers" is such an outrage.

Our troops are fighting and dying to bring to others the freedoms that many take for granted. It is unconscionable that Mr. Limbaugh would criticize them for exercising the fundamentally American right to free speech. Mr. Limbaugh has made outrageous remarks before, but this affront to our soldiers is beyond the pale.

The military, like any community within the United States, includes members both for and against the war. Senior generals, such as General John Batiste and Paul Eaton, have come out against the war while others have publicly supported it. A December 2006 poll conducted by the Military Times found just 35 percent of service members approved of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq, compared to 42 percent who disapproved. From this figure alone, it is clear that Mr. Limbaugh's insult is directed at thousands of American service members.

Active and retired members of our armed forces have a unique perspective on the war and offer a valuable contribution to our national debate. In August, seven soldiers wrote an op-ed expressing their concern with the current strategy in Iraq. Tragically, since then, two of those seven soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq.

Thousands of active troops and veterans were subjected to Mr. Limbaugh's unpatriotic and indefensible comments on your broadcast. We trust you will agree that not a single one of our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends serving overseas is a "phony soldier." We call on you to publicly repudiate these comments that call into question their service and sacrifice and to ask Mr. Limbaugh to apologize for his comments.

Well now, I wonder what any of the above have said about the troops.

Senator Harry Reid: "That this war is lost, and that the surge is not accomplishing anything."

Senator John Kerry: "If you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Congressman John Murtha: "Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood."

Senator Dick Durbin: "If I read this to you and didn't tell you it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have happened by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime, Pol Pot or others that had no concern for human beings."

All of the above quotes are directed towards the then current military forces, the then and currently serving in the GWOT. Shameful, isn't it?

Why is it that the Leftinistra will not or can not be honest? Why do they insist on supporting the outed and known phony soldiers? Could it be that the phony soldiers support the anti-Americanist, aka "peace activist" rantings?

At any rate, the letter backfired and once again, became yet another international embarrassment and the Abyss of Obscurity for the Leftinistra and the anti-Americanists gets deeper and deeper.

John Kerry once told Bob Schieffer on CBS' "Face the Nation" that "there is no reason that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women . . . ." This was a more modest reprise of his post-Vietnam charges that U.S. troops had raped, tortured and pillaged in the tradition of Genghis Khan.

Then there's the famous utterance by Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., after the incident at Saddam's Abu Ghraib prison: "We now learn that Saddam's torture chamber (has) reopened under new management."

Limbaugh's hypocritical critics aren't concerned about the demeaning of our troops in Iraq. They want to demean those who support our war on terror, whether in Iraq or the broadcast booth.

Despite their efforts, we will know the truth, and the truth will keep us free.

"For several years I have found MoveOn.org to be an inspirational anti-war group, but the past few weeks they have been an embarrassment to all Americans with their attacks upon President Bush and General Petraeus. I subscribe to the MoveOn newsletter, and even considered hosting an anti-war rally in San Dimas, but now I want no part of this radical group and will remove my name from their newsletter subscription . . . I guess to MoveOn, the First Amendment is only for the rich."

I want to thank you and your Senate Democratic colleagues for sharing your concern over recent comments made by Rush Limbaugh on his daily radio program. First let me say that the men and women who wear the uniform in defense of our country deserve the utmost respect and gratitude from each and every one of us whom they serve to protect. I assure you that I fully agree with your statement that "not a single one of our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends serving overseas is a phony soldier." As a grateful American citizen, I would reject anyone's contention to the contrary.

Mr. Limbaugh's comments last week have stirred a lot of emotion, and I have carefully read the transcript from the episode in question. I hope you will appreciate that I cannot speak with authority as to whom exactly Mr. Limbaugh's comment were directed, or what was his intent. Only Mr. Limbaugh can speak to those issues, which he has done.

I can say, however, that over the years Mr. Limbaugh has repeatedly praised the dedication and valor of our brave men and women in uniform. Given Mr. Limbaugh' history of support for our soldiers, it would be unfair of me to assume his statement were intended to personally indict combat soldiers simply because they didn't share his own beliefs regarding the war in Iraq. However, if Mr. Limbaugh's intention was to classify any soldier opposed to the war in Iraq as a "phony soldier," which he denies, then I, along with most Americans, would be deeply offended by such a statement.

While I do not agree with everything Mr. Limbaugh says on every topic, I do believe that he, along with every American, has the right to voice his or her opinion in the manner they choose. The First Amendment gives every American the right to voice his or her opinion, no matter how unpopular. That right is one that I am sure you agree must be cherished and protected.

As the Chief Executive Officer of clear Channel, I support each of our on-air talent's right to express his or herself freely, as long as they do it within the confines of the laws set forth by Congress. For this reason, I have not and will not impose my own views upon any of our on-air talent. Doing so would, quite frankly, undermine the integrity of the broadcast, undercut the trust with our listeners that they are receiving the true and honest opinions of the radio host, and more importantly fly directly in the face of the right to free speech that we hold so dear.

Each and every day, Clear Channel airs a broad diversity of viewpoints from Rush Limbaugh on the right to Air America on the left of the political spectrum. It is inevitable, with so many different perspectives, that an on-air personality will challenge or even offend another segment of the public. I too an sometimes offended by words that are directed at me or a particular belief I hold. However, as a broadcaster and leader of this company, I will always defend the right of our employees and contracted talent to voice their opinions under the protections provided by the First Amendment.

I want to thank you and your colleagues for writing me regarding this matter. Again, I regret that you and others were offended by Mr. Limbaugh's statement, regardless of what its intended meaning may have been. I hope that you understand and support my position that while I certainly do not agree with all views voiced on our stations, I will not condemn our talent for exercising their right to voice them.

Senate Democrat attacks Rush Limbaugh over 'unpatriotic' speech
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) launched an attack from the U.S. Senate floor Monday against noted conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh -- accusing the radio personality of uttering "unpatriotic comments."

Congress: The anti-war left is trying to slime a major conservative pundit, but Rush Limbaugh was right about the left's "phony soldiers," and Kerry, Murtha, Durbin et al. have called our troops far worse.

Media And War: Ever since the Sept. 10 testimony of Gen. David Petraeus, we've heard less and less from the mainstream media about the war in Iraq. The old adage "no news is good news" has never been truer.

Nuclear Terrorism: A statement by Tehran's top nuclear official suggests the terrorist state's uranium enrichment program is past the point of no return. Could even a full shutdown reverse Iran's ability to devise a bomb?

Entitlements: Political candidates routinely do the obligatory baby-kissing. Hillary Clinton wants to give each baby a check. Never mind that she'll get the money by raising their parents' taxes

Welfare: Democrats shamelessly exploit an injured 12-year-old to promote expanding insurance to those who already have it. Meanwhile, Sen. Schumer defends a program that taxes the poor to give to the well-off.

The Rev. Al Sharpton has cut a deal with the state attorney general that will require his National Action Network to turn over several years' worth of delinquent tax filings by the end of the month, he said yesterday.

"It's going to happen," Sharpton told The Post before his 53rd birthday-cum-National Action Network fund-raiser in Midtown. "We have agreed upon a date and in a month we will come out with them."

As The Post reported yesterday, the preacher's National Action Network is behind on years of filings that document fund-raising income, executive salaries and expenses, according to the Attorney General's Charity Bureau.

The group is also at least four years behind on submitting similar filings, called Form 990s, with the IRS.

Federal and state laws mandate that tax-exempt organizations make these filings available to the public to show how the money is spent.

A spokesman for Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, a political ally of Sharpton, confirmed that talks have been under way.

Sharpton has blamed the delay on a January 2003 fire at the National Action Network's headquarters that destroyed documents.

"The problem is reconstructing what was lost in the fire, it takes time," he said. Compounding the problem, he added, are accounting rules that require tax-exempt groups to submit the filings in sequential order by year.

Sharpton also addressed the controversial payments his group has made to witnesses and victims in the Sean Bell shooting, comparing them to the assistance police unions give cops.

"How can [the Detectives Endowment Association] support the detectives and I can't support the victims?" Sharpton asked.

DEA President Michael Palladino asked, "What witnesses before the grand jury are being paid by National Action Network?" and wondered whether it influences their testimony

"The DEA certainly has supported our detectives during their time on suspension. That's what the union is supposed to do," he said.

The Detectives Endowment Association has vocally defended the three police officers indicted in connection to the fatal shooting of Sean Bell and his two friends in the parking lot of a Queens strip club last November 25.

It has questioned the propriety of Sharpton's group of paying witnesses to the shooting.

Democratic Party Holding Veteran Affairs Appropriation Hostage

One should wonder why the Democratic Party Leadership squabble over Phony Soldiers and Fraud Veterans and withhold funding for Real Veterans and Real Soldiers.

This Day in US Military History

Here we are again, the start of a new fiscal year and Congress still has not passed the Military Construction, Veterans' Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations for FY 2008 ( H.R. 2642).

It passed the House 409-2 on June 15, 2007 and the Senate 92-1 on September 6, 2007. The President has already said he would sign H.R. 2642. Although there are some differences in the bills passed in each chamber, the overall funding levels are very close. So what is the problem? Politics! The President and the congressional leadership are at odds over the funding levels of the other remaining 11 appropriations bills. Congress has passed a continuing resolution to fund the Federal government at FY 2007 funding levels until November 17, 2007 – just before Congress plans to adjourn the First Session of the 110th Congress.

The President believes Congress plans to send him an omnibus appropriations bill with 11 appropriations bills rolled into one for his signature. He has expressed his plans to veto the bill if it exceeds his budget recommendations for FY 2008. He wants to negotiate with Congress on each bill separately. Therefore, Congress plans to hold H.R. 2642 "hostage" since the President said he would not veto it.Congress has passed the best VA appropriations bill in history. H.R. 2642 meets or exceeds nearly every recommendation made by the veterans' service organizations. Unfortunately, none of the increased funding will be available until the bill is signed. Historically, such budgetary standoffs are usually resolved in late January or early February at best – that means nearly halfway into the new fiscal year.

Clearly, this is another excellent example of why VA medical care should be changed to mandatory appropriations rather than discretionary. All annual mandatory funding is not affected by continuing resolutions. It is paid automatically; therefore, this continuing resolution will not affect such funding as Social Security, Medicare, and VA Compensation and Pension.Contact your senators and congress members today and urge immediate passage of H.R. 2642. A friend of mine asked for help in a political media interpretation class they were taking. I won't bore you with the details but I only bring it up because this is how I came upon this article. This is the sort of hatchet job one would expect to find in the New York Times or Boston Globe however instead I found it in a local Midland, Texas newspaper. It is the exact sort corrupt political writing that has made Conservatives everywhere distrustful of the media. It starts like this...

Giuliani's ties to Houston law firm gives him Texas boost

Republican Rudy Giuliani -- thrice-married, liberal on social issues and a consummate New Yorker -- seems an unlikely White House contender to be embraced by a Texas' GOP establishment rooted in the energy industry and dominated by religious conservatives.

Right from the get go, the article is suspect. Imagine, the shoe on another foot. One could see this sort of lead in, Democrat Hillary Clinton, scandal ridden, highly polarizing and with negatives already at or near 50%, has bucked convention and continues to lead nationwide. Let's try another... despite his Mormon background, flip flopping on key issues, and reputation for being to slick for his own good, Mitt Romney maintains a lead in Iowa.

While it is perfectly fine to lead in in such a way, if there is going to be straight analysis, we will expect to understand how he has bucked the conventional wisdom that a social liberal could lead in a social conservative party. Instead, what we get is a nebulous reason that is really just an excuse to attack Rudy in a backhanded and terribly unfair sort of a way.

But the former New York mayor has built a formidable political base in Texas with the help of well-connected Republican money men. He owes his advantage in part to his role as a name partner with a powerhouse, Houston-based law firm known for its impressive roster of energy-giant clients, Bracewell & Giuliani.

His partnership in the law firm has also brought Giuliani unwelcome criticism in connection with some of the firm's more controverisal clients, including a Spanish contractor involved in planning part of a Texas superhighway toll road known as the Trans-Texas Corridor.

Texas farmers and other landowners are worried their property rights will be trampled to make way for the highway. Conspiracy theorists see Giuliani, because of his highway connections, as allied with a cabal of international monied interests plotting to supplant the United States with a North American Union that includes Mexico and Canada.

Giuliani reported in a federal financial disclosure form in May that he received $1.2 million in income from Bracewell & Giuliani during 2006...

So, if we are supposed to believe the article, Rudy's ties to this all powerful law firm minimize the nature of his positions in a party that sees those positions 180% opposite of him. By this notion, any senior partner at this firm could get traction in the Texas Republican Primary regardless of their social views. This is of course nonsense, but it isn't really meant to be analysis. The law firm is a trojan horse as an analysis piece. It is placed in there solely so that the author could then spend the next three paragraphs analyzing the merits of a case Rudy wasn't involved in, a case that obviously is not one most people would approve of. In other words, while pretending to analyze Rudy's merits as a candidate, what the author is really doing is trying to marginalize Rudy through guilt by association.

"The relationship with Bracewell has given Giuliani a financial foothold in the state," said Craig McDonald, director of Texans for Public Justice, which tracks money in politics.

While Giuliani isn't "totally in sync with the base on social issues," Texans liked his take-charge approach during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and his mayoral record on crime-fighting and budget control, said Austin-based GOP consultant Reggie Bashur...

"The grassroots in Texas is ... strongly conservative. ... very much right-to-life, very fiscally conservative, strong on national defense, very strong on the war on terror, not overly sympathetic to the gay rights movement," Bashur said.

Giuliani's campaign finance chairman is Roy Bailey, a former finance chairman of the Texas Republican Party. Dallas billionaire T. Boone Pickens and Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks are major fundraisers.

Giuliani had raised $3.69 million in Texas as of July 30, the most of any presidential candidate.

So, again, if we are pretending that this is just mere straight analysis, it seems this law firm is all powerful because it has given him a foothold financially and he has raised more than anyone else. At this point, we are almost three quarters of the way through the article and it has devoted exactly two sentences to anything that is positive about Rudy.

The next two sentences masquerade is more mere analysis but in fact give the author away as the hatchet man they are.

Giuliani has also developed a bond with Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whom he helped win re-election last year. That groundwork could make Perry a high-profile ally in Texas, although the governor hasn't yet endorsed a presidential candidate.

We are nearly done with the article before a much more logical reason for Rudy's success in Texas is even referenced, his ties to its leading politician the governor. It is of course a well known political paradigm that helping powerful people get elected helps you put together an organization for your own future runs, and that is what Rudy did when he got into bed with Perry and his successful run at the governors mansion. Let's face it, the tie to Perry wasn't done for any sort of analytical reason. It was done for the excuse to say what follows next.

Bracewell & Giuliani represents a business consortium involved in the Trans-Texas Corridor, a costly, high-profile toll road pushed by Perry and opposed by farmers and ranchers.

The first phase of Perry's proposed $184 billion toll road, envisioned as part of a superhighway stretching from Oklahoma to the Mexico border, was planned by the Cintra Zachry consortium, composed of Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte SA of Spain, one of the world's largest developers of toll roads, and Zachry Construction Co. of San Antonio.

Landowners say they worry that fields and farmhouses in Texas families for generations would be bulldozed for the highway. The state acknowledges some private land will be taken, but Perry said new roads are needed to handle Texas' growing population and trade.

But the lawsuit further fueled concerns about foreign ownership of a major Texas highway, and the project continues to be criticized by conservative groups like the Eagle Forum and the John Birch Society, who see it as part of an international conspiracy to create a North American Union. The conspiracy theory has also provided fodder for cable television commentators like CNN's Lou Dobbs.

So again, what we have is more guilt by association. Even Rudy's relationship with the governor comes down to nothing but baggage because of some obscure case they were involved in. This is a case that most people don't actually know about. It is only an issue because the author is making it an issue. Furthermore, he presents the John Birch Society and the Eagle Forum as some sort of mainstream and influential Conservative groups. Of course, that is just ridiculous. These are two fringe groups and John Birch has thrown their weight behind fringe candidate Ron Paul. The North American Union is something only fringe groups worry about, and Conservatives do not look to Lou Dobbs as any sort of leading commentator.

If, again, we are supposed to still look at this as mere straight analysis, the sum total of his relationship with the governor will amount to nothing more than the case that his firm helped the governor with. No straight analysis would ever make such an outrageous assumption, but then again this is no analysis but a simple hit piece. The hit piece wouldn't be complete with one last dig that really has nothing to do with the substance of the rest of the story.

Earlier this year, Giuliani sold his investment firm, Giuliani Capital, for an undisclosed sum to the Macquarie Group, which is part of Macquarie Bank of Australia. Cintra and Macquarie's infrastructure group formed a consortium that operates a major toll road in Indiana.

Scott Segal, a Washington-based Bracewell & Giuliani partner in charge of its government relations division, said Giuliani was not involved in the Texas toll road legal work and that the law firm doesn't lobby on behalf of Cintra Zachry.

Black, Perry's spokesman, said he doubts Perry even knows that Giuliani's firm has represented the transportation companies in connection with the project.

While it dresses it up with some nice explanations, the clear implication is that Rudy sold out to foreigners. Furthermore, if Rudy doesn't even know about the project, why did the author spend several paragraphs in a painstaking attempt to flesh out the minute details of the case. This is frankly the sort of thing that even the NY Times would avoid printing and the editor and author should both be ashamed of themselves.

I am personally disgusted. So much so, that I contacted the editor and wrote this,

Dear Mr. Gott,

Recently, I came across a political analysis from your paper about Rudy Giuliani that I find to be the gutter of all political discourse. This is a hatchet job masquerading as serious political analysis. I have no doubt that most people in Midland are frankly too stupid to realize what is being done to them, or at least, I have no doubt you do. I am not from Midland, but I do have power in the blogosphere and I will make this article and your paper by extension the symbol of everything that is wrong with this country’s journalism practices.

Here is my analysis in response. If I am wrong, I encourage you to respond to my blog. I think that my response deserves the right to be heard in your paper. Furthermore, the author and whoever decided to let this be published should not be working for your paper, unless of course, you want the whole world to know that you have an obvious and uncontrollable bias toward Republicans or at least Rudy.

If you are as disgusted then I encourage you to go here and exercise your own first amendment rights.

Rush...The New American Hero Takes On All Callers...And Wins

Last night I showed you the text of Clear Channel's response to the idiocy that Harry Reid sent them.

You can recap the whole fiasco here where I have all my Rush Limbaugh, Harry Reid posts on one page. (That page has the full Rush Limbaugh transcript, video, history of Hillary Clinton and Media Matters...everything to do with this controversy.)

For those that do not like clicking links, here is the short version:

Harry Reid along with some other Democratic politicians decided to make even bigger fools of themselves than they already had made of themselves, when they jumped on the Media Matters distortion of what Rush Limbaugh said, and then they wrote to whine to Rush's boss at Clear Channel.

Reids goal was to Try to further perpetuate the original lies that Media Matters reported by showing only partial transcripts and portions of the video/audio of a discussion that Rush Limbaugh was having about "phony soliders" like Jesse MacBeth, who was sentenced for fraud after being embraced as the the darling of the anti-military crowd, until they discovered all his horror stories were outright lies.

Media Matters distortion was that Rush was talking about "any" soldier that disagreed with our action in Iraq was a phony soldier. The full transcript shows the truth and the context in which the term "phony soldiers" was used, which had Media Matters shown the full thing everyone would have seen and heard that 35 seconds after those comments with his caller, he made sure to reference Jesse Macbeth.

Instead they led the Democratic politicians right off the cliff.

We now see that Iraq soldiers are emailing Rush Limbaugh to show support for him because they actually read the whole transcript and see and are stating the ridiculousness of the Democrats and far left liberal unhinged position on this whole manufactured controversy.

EMAIL #1:

Dear Rush,

Mega-dittos from one of the soldiers adopted for your Rush 24/7. I'm writing this from the MWR in Tallil AFB, Iraq. After reading your Friday "phony soldiers" monologue, I had Democrats pegged as stuck on stupid and it's still hard to believe they are THAT stupid to accuse you of besmirching us, given their track records. And, come to think of it, they besmirch us yet again at the same time they accuse you because to go by whatever they pass off as "reasoning", to believe that you besmirched us would be lumping all REAL soldiers and veterans with Jesse MacBeth and all other scumbags like him.

What was the point of passing the recent "Stolen Valor Act"? Well, anyway, here's a copy of the email I sent to my House Rep, John Carter R-TX; as well as my Senators, Kay Bailey Hutchison R-TX and John Cornyn R-TX. It reads:

Dear Senator Cornyn,

I am a soldier in the Texas Army National Guard currently deployed and stationed in Iraq. I am with the 3/144th Infantry and we are at Tallil AFB. I'm also a fan of the radio comedian, Rush Limbaugh. I have been since I first watched his TV show in the early '90s and listened to his radio show all through college. Currently, I am a free subscriber, under his Adopt-a-Soldier Program, to his Rush 24/7 service and I always read his webpage when I access the Internet at the MWR here. So I'm calling your attention to this page here:

As you read it, you will see that Rush is being accused, falsely, of trying to besmirch the troops with a commentary he made recently about "phony soldiers." I read that particular commentary when it was posted and it was quite clear to me that his main focus of that commentary was a man (and I use the term loosely, I might add) named Jesse MacBeth, a star of the "anti-war"/pro-Al-Qaeda movement who became such a celebrity after he claimed to some news outlet that he was a former Corporal in the US Army Rangers, recipient of the Purple Heart, and a witness to atrocities committed by US troops in Iraq -- all of which were not only proven false, but MacBeth himself has been convicted this past week of submitting a false VA Claim and falsifying his DD-214. As it turned out, he was in the Army...for all of 44 days. He didn't graduate basic training, let alone Ranger School, so he was never in Iraq and never got the Purple Heart. He was one of many frauds and hoaxes propped by the Democratic Party and groups like Media Matters, Code Pink, and MoveOn.org in an attempt to push their agenda.

As you read further, you will find some of the most ridiculous and hypocritical commentary ever uttered by members of Congress in our history coming from DNC Chair Howard Dean, Webb, Schakowsky, and especially John Kerry among others, all with a clear history of besmirching -- and in the case of Murtha, actually Nifonging -- the troops themselves. That is some of the most ridiculous BS I've ever heard from politicians and would actually be funny if I wasn't over here. These freaks have no room to talk, and even now by accusing Rush Limbaugh of besmirching us, they are still besmirching us by trying to bring us down to the level of Jesse MacBeth and his ilk. Now that's real insulting, and I would want my congressman to call those a[-----]es (excuse the language but I don't know what else to call them that can actually be nice) on it. What was the point of the recently-passed Stolen Valor Act? They owe us an apology for this, not Rush. Rush Limbaugh has been one of the most supportive voices we have left in the media, with quite a few servicemen who may very well owe their freedom and reputations to him for his publicly defending them while they're being Nifonged by the media and certain members of Congress. I wouldn't listen to him nor read his website daily if he wasn't. So I'm asking of you, sir, not only to defend Rush and his First Amendment Rights, but more to defend our honor and reputations from those of your colleagues in the House and the Senate who say they support us on one hand and then undermine, besmirch, and Nifong all of us, from the President and Gen. Petraeus to the newest private. Don't let their sickening hypocrisy stand. Call them out on the floor -- and do it publicly, please.

I can think of countless times that I felt the desire to write and tell you how I felt about a subject. I think I finally found something that I could not stay quiet on any longer. This phony soldier story has disgusted me like no other. I am currently deployed to Iraq for my third time. Your Adopt-a-Soldier Program has enabled me to listen everyday by downloading your program and I have always taken great pride in your support of the military. My parents turned me on to listening to you a decade ago and I listen every minute I can. I have also taken great pride in also being a fellow Missourian, from Lake of the Ozarks here myself. I am writing this while I am listening to a downloaded copy of Friday's program. This is one soldier that cannot convey enough the disgust I have for these liberals. To totally take your comment out of context like this and demean you in this way is disgusting, especially from people that disgust me. One of your sound bites was from a woman that quoted poll numbers from soldiers that say we should pull out, and numbers that say we should pull out now.

I'm not sure where she got her numbers, because she didn't ask anyone in my company. My company would be quite the opposite way. To be honest, there isn't a one of us that wouldn't rather be home, but we support the war, support our mission, and support why we are here, one and all. I have been in the 101st Airborne for the majority of the last 11 years. I served under then Major General Petraeus during Operation Iraqi Freedom I, when we first crossed the border. I have met him and consider him to be a great man. What these liberals did to him angers me. I know I am rambling Rush, and for that I apologize. I am extremely angry about how Iraq is portrayed. We are winning this like no one back home would ever understand. I am extremely angry about what is being said about you over this phony soldier story. I am extremely angry about how none of these liberals are called on their lies and attacks against George Bush and Iraq. I guess I just want to express my tremendous support of you Rush and how much you are appreciated by some of the soldiers out here.

Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive?

I think the comments and emails from our troops are answering that question loud and clear.

Rush, himself points out what I have pointed out previously, the Democrats are trying to distract and distort for a reason, because they understand that they have failed their supporters and they are hiding from that by manufacturing false controversy.

What Harry Reid and Tom Harkin are doing is predictable. It's what all leaders of all top-down, repressive movements do. They find ways to rile up and distract their dissatisfied, disaffected, and disappointed followers. It's a convenient and non-substantive way to stay in power. After all, Harry Reid and Tom Harkin and all the other Democrats have failed miserably to come through on what their supporters have demanded of them, and that is to end the Iraq war and bring the troops home. So they have to distract from their own failures. Their General Petraeus ad was an absolute disaster. They need to change the subject. They need to try to redeem themselves after that disaster, and they do so by focusing on me because they know that their lunatic fringe base hates me, and if anybody is being distracted, ladies and gentlemen, it's the Democrat base. The Democrat base is being distracted from noticing the abject failure of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to deliver on what their supporters consider their mandate to be following the November '06 elections.

They are also trying to distract from the hugely unsuccessful attempt by MoveOn to smear a four star General by attempting to attack his credibility.

As I have pointed out many times before and I will CONTINUE to point out until they understand....we are not going to let them forget.
