This Blog Is Moving

Greetings. After this weekend, this Take Our Country Back Blog will be moving to the new web site. Too many conservatives are getting zapped by the intolerant dweebs of the Obama Goons and seeing that this editing platform is a free site, Blogger can do pretty much what it feels like doing. Hence, I now have a paid site and will be migrating the last 1400+ posts shortly.

So, one day, you just may click this page somewhere and it will show up as "private". It has been fun but the intolerant Czarbie Goon Squads are brain dead idiots. They can come play at the new site which I OWN outright.

A New Entry in the Lexicon of the Libtard Whinery

~Snooper~

Poor thing. Silly one over at SmokeCatPond is already having a bad day and the sun ain't even up yet. Poor thing.

Ya know? If I was a doom and gloom bleeding heart liberal communist in socialist garb anti-Americanist, I would be pissed off too. Such emotions from these children so early in the morning.
It's early in the morning, I'm on my first cup of coffee, and it may be those things that are bringing me down too, but one statement yesterday is among the most disturbing ever uttered by any figure in a Congressional Hearing. [...]

Sixteen "Dead" Bodies Found In A Ditch In Iraq?

~Snooper~

As opposed to "Live" bodies? Leave it to Al-Reuters.

Is this going to be another Phony Body Story?

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Sixteen dead bodies were found on Thursday in a ditch in a town north of Baghdad within Iraq's most violent province, police said.

Police said the bodies found near Muqdadiya in Diyala province, all adult males, appeared to have been killed recently. Twelve of them had been beheaded, the other four shot in the head. [...]

Political Correctness and Idiot Liberals

~Snooper~

This, folks, is political correctness in all of its idiocy.

Before I get into the PC issue that many of us are extremely concerned about, here is a blog entry that explains just how insidious the Libtards are. Now, back to the post at hand.

For posterity, on Dec 11, 2007, HR 847 passed the House 372 Yeas and 9 Nays. 10 voted "present". "Present" equals neither a Yeah or Nay but gets slated as a Yeah because they didn't say Nay...convoluted, I know. 40 cast no vote at all. What is HR 847? Here ya go. H. Res. 847: Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith. Ain't that sweet? We had to have a "resolution" in this Judeo-Christian fundamentally founded country. What the hell is that all about? The full text is here and the vote record is here.

RESOLUTION

Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith.

Whereas Christmas, a holiday of great significance to Americans and many other cultures and nationalities, is celebrated annually by Christians throughout the United States and the world;

Whereas there are approximately 225,000,000 Christians in the United States, making Christianity the religion of over three-fourths of the American population;

Whereas there are approximately 2,000,000,000 Christians throughout the world, making Christianity the largest religion in the world and the religion of about one-third of the world population;

Whereas Christians identify themselves as those who believe in the salvation from sin offered to them through the sacrifice of their savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and who, out of gratitude for the gift of salvation, commit themselves to living their lives in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible;

Whereas Christians and Christianity have contributed greatly to the development of western civilization;

Whereas the United States, being founded as a constitutional republic in the traditions of western civilization, finds much in its history that points observers back to its roots in Christianity;

Whereas on December 25 of each calendar year, American Christians observe Christmas, the holiday celebrating the birth of their savior, Jesus Christ;

Whereas for Christians, Christmas is celebrated as a recognition of God's redemption, mercy, and Grace; and

Whereas many Christians and non-Christians throughout the United States and the rest of the world, celebrate Christmas as a time to serve others: Now, therefore be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives--

(1) recognizes the Christian faith as one of the great religions of the world;

(2) expresses continued support for Christians in the United States and worldwide;

(3) acknowledges the international religious and historical importance of Christmas and the Christian faith;

(4) acknowledges and supports the role played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States and in the formation of the western civilization;

(5) rejects bigotry and persecution directed against Christians, both in the United States and worldwide; and

(6) expresses its deepest respect to American Christians and Christians throughout the world.
This saddens me beyond comprehension. Why should the House have to perform this "duty". 195 Democrats and 177 Republicans voted in the affirmative for the Resolution. 9 Democrats voted in the negative for the Resolution. Of the 10 "present", 9 were Democrats and 1 was Republican. 19 Democrats and 21 Republicans did not vote. 391 voted out of 435. That is pretty sad and lame to boot. There are 60 co-sponsors to the Resolution.

I can almost hear the Libtards writhing in pure hatred to the resolution and the passing thereof.

One News Now, the site the Libtards HATE, has detailed commentary that all should read and heed. A snippet:
[...] "Watching Congress honor Islam during Ramadan, and also Diwali, which is a Hindu holiday, brought it home to me that we were doing that and not honoring Christianity," King shares. 'I'm Christian by faith and most of us are in Congress." As are the majority of Americans, three-fourths of whom King says identify themselves as Christians.

"This nation has about 225 million Christians out of the 300 million, and about two billion Christians throughout the world," he states. "And the foundations of this nation are a Christian foundation [and] our founders were Christian. So for us to move forward towards Christmas without honoring Christ is, I think, a great omission, especially if we're going to honor other religions." [...]
Absotively! Can you just hear the Libtards shreeking in their cauldrons of hate and despair?

View Hot Air's commentary here. A snippet:
[...] And yes, of course, the atheist who thinks Bush gets his rocks off by blowing the heads off Iraqi kids is among the nine hypocrites. What a filthy little fraud. [...]
View Jeff Emanuels commentary here. A snippet:

[...] Which of the two is more strongly-worded? I'll take the one that prostrates a nation before "law-abiding, patriotic Americans of African, Arab, and South Asian descent, particularly members of the Islamic faith" who have supposedly been the targets of "threats and incidents of violence" -- it sure goes a long, long way to make clear that not only is America "Okay with Islam," not only is it willing to kowtow to it so as to make doubly sure that we aren't seen as racist bigot Islamophobes, but it pulls the Clintonian move of apologizing to people who have been wronged very little, on behalf of people who have done very little wronging. [...]
In this nation, The United States, holds Islam in higher esteem than Christianity, something is very, very wrong indeed.

Congress? Thanks for the confirmation.

Vets For Freedom Announcement!!!!

~Snooper~

I have received the below data via email but I stole particular commentary from Spree at Wake Up America.

Lt. Pete Hegseth, who served in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division from 2005 to 2006, is executive director of Vets for Freedom.

Vets for Freedom represents America on a Global Stage

For the past six months, Vets for Freedom has taken the lead in America in explaining - and supporting - the new counter-insurgency strategy being implemented with great success in Iraq.

Tonight, December 11, we will take that message to the world.

This evening, Pete Hegseth, Executive Director of Vets for Freedom, will represent our country during a debate in London about the future of Iraq. The debate will be hosted by Intelligence Squared, the most prominent debating forum in Europe, and will be broadcast on BBC World television, which has an audience of over 76 million people worldwide.

Hegseth will join prominent British author William Shawcross by promoting the motion that states, "the surge is working, let's win before we leave." They will be debating against four other panelists, among them Ali Allawi, former Iraqi Minister of Defense, and Tony Benn, the President of Britain's "Stop the War Coalition" and 40-year member of the British parliament.

Hegseth will give 8 minutes of remarks and then participate in an hour of debate and Q&A. At the conclusion of the debate, the sold-out London audience will vote on the motion.

"What an incredible opportunity to represent our country and speak directly to the world about the incredible progress happening in Iraq," said Hegseth. "BBC World is watched around the globe, and this is an opportunity to represent our country and our military in order to dispel myths about our mission and conduct in Iraq."

For more information about the debate, go to: http://www.intelligencesquared.com

The debate will be taped and broadcast on BBC World at a later date, and Vets for Freedom will provide air times when they become available.

Also, the following op-ed appeared in today's Washington Times, and I wanted to make sure you were one of the first to see it. The op-ed argues that Congress needs to fund the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan before they go home for Christmas, especially in light of incredible success in Iraq.

Enjoy the debate and the article,

Pete Hegseth

The article:

American troops are winning

December 11, 2007

By Pete Hegseth - In May and June, overall attacks in Iraq were at their highest levels since the war began, monthly coalition deaths were near an all-time high, and violence against civilians was still at staggering levels. To most observers, the war in Iraq was not going well.

At the same time, members of Congress were already declaring the "surge' a failure and stepping up their "timeline for withdrawal" rhetoric. Anti-war Democrats, and a few Republicans, cited "realities on the ground" as compelling evidence to call for an immediate, or more nuanced "phased," end to the war.

These same "realities," also emboldening anti-war groups to declare an "Iraq Summer," during which they would finally crush domestic support for the war and force Congress to de-fund the mission there. MoveOn.org and others dispatched operatives around the country and harassed members of Congress.

Truthfully, as we now know, these "realities" on the ground were the unfortunate birth pangs of the new counter-insurgency strategy being implemented by Gen. David Petraeus. Some on Capitol Hill understood this fact in June, and their courage in those dark days kept Congress from prematurely declaring defeat in Iraq.

In June, the full compliment of surge forces had just arrived, hence the violence levels hadn't yet ebbed; by June, American forces had moved off of large bases and defensive positions, and into an offensive posture among the population, hence the initially high casualty rate; and in June, al Qaeda had yet to felt the full shock of the surge, hence their continue brutality.

But that was then, and this is now; and Iraq in December 2007 is a drastically different place than Iraq in June 2007. Overall attack levels are now at the lowest levels since 2005, monthly coalition deaths are nearing an all-time low, and violence against Iraqi civilians has been reduced by more than 60 percent, according to the anti-war site icasualties.org

However, the more things change in Iraq, the more they stay the same on Capitol Hill. For the past month, with a few off-handed exceptions, Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill has largely refused to acknowledge success. They are stuck in the talking points of June, and stuck on a narrative of failure.

Despite the incredible progress made by our military - which has opened the door for real and sustainable political progress in Iraq - the Democratic leadership continues to insist that we de-fund the war and bring the troops home no matter what. Beholden to entrenched and noisy anti-war interest groups, the Democrat leadership in Washington seems willing to cut-off much needed funding, placing our brave troops in harms way.

In response to these overtly political threats, the Pentagon recently made plans to lay off more than 100,000 DOD employees across America in order to re-allocate money to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. What the Democratic leadership seems to forget is that these employees are responsible for training, equipping and supporting the troops in the field.

In short, for the sake of placating MoveOn.org and other radical anti-war groups, the Democratic leadership is willing to lay off thousands of employees in America and under cut the incredible success of our troops in Iraq. Such logic is perverse and infuriating, especially to courageous Democrats like Reps. Brian Baird and Jim Marshall, who have moved beyond partisanship to support the success being achieved in Iraq.

The troops in Iraq today - many of whom I served with in 2006 - are the finest fighting force the world has ever seen. And today, with a coherent strategy that finally compliments their tactical proficiency, they are defeating al Qaeda and Iranian-proxy groups. How members of Congress, sitting in their air-conditioned offices, can consider cutting off their funding is beyond comprehension.

The Iraq war has been difficult, and it has cost America dearly in lives and treasure. But now is not the time to play politics with the troops and their funding. If the "realities" of June had persisted until December, then talk of a phased withdrawal and funding restrictions would be reasonable.

But reality has changed, and the Democratic leadership needs to have the courage to acknowledge great success in Iraq, and swallow their pride long enough to do what is best for the troops and their important mission. Congress needs to fund the troops immediately, before heading home to enjoy a holiday season that our troops - and my fellow soldiers in the 101st Airborne - will spend in harm's way.
Pete, Thanks for the email.
As most of y'all know by now, my son is now serving with the 101st at this very moment.

Kucinich, UFOs and Renting Iowan Office Space

~Snooper~

One can come to the conclusion that since Kucinich and Shirley have been viewing UFOs and floating in the Upper Atmosphere tethered by Life Lines, Kucinich has been negligent in confirming a place in the next DNC Presidential Aspirant debates.

It seems as though he hasn't rented any office space in the State of Iowa so he hasn't been invited to the debate. It could be that even he knows that appearing at this debate would only do him more harm than the last UFO sighting has done so, he didn't bother.

The country is better off not hearing the idiocy of his rantings.

Catch the wave.

Story here.

William Jefferson Clinton Redefines the Term "Liar"

~Snooper~

Thank God for the internet that Gore made! A special transcript can be found at Newsbusters.

The former (thank God) President, Bill Clinton, "didn't keep all of his speeches" but, some of us have and, we, The Rabid Right Wing Steam Rollers know how to "Google It". This tid-bit is just too much. Today, on the CBS Early Show with Harry Smith, a softball interview with Bill Clinton went south.
Harry Smith said, "When you were in Muscatine a week and a half or so ago, right, and said, I've always been against this, speaking about the Iraq war, I did a little Googling last night, and the best I could tell was you said the weapons inspectors should be allowed to do their jobs."
That's the best this asshat could do? No wonder the Lame Stream Media is in such shambles! Here, at A Newt One, we will do what the Lame Stream should be doing. we have, at our beckon call, the internet that Gore made therein, all manner OF "things" can be found. We "Googled It" and found...GASP! Bill Clinton LIED!! This is Clinton's answer, like it was the truth or something:

Look, I said something like that a hundred times. I supported threatening Saddam so we could do the inspections. The mistake we made was not letting the inspections finish. If they had, there would have been no war. And I was always against doing it without the inspections. As you pointed out, most of my speeches weren't getting covered by the press and we didn't copy them or anything back then. But we do have several records, including one six days before the invasion, where I said, I don't think they should do this until the inspections finished. That was the deal. And, if we'd done it, there would have been no war.
Now, ain't that sweet? The problem is...it is a lie. And, we do know what "IS" is.

President Clinton addresses THE Joint Chiefs of Staff: 2/17/1998
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear: We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program. We have to defend our future from these predators of the twenty-first century. They'll be all the more lethal if we allow them to build arsenals of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. We simply cannot allow that to happen. There is no more clear example of this threat than Saddam Hussein.
OOPS! Then, there is always this: 4/16/2003

"Saddam is gone, and good riddance," former President Clinton said yesterday. Clinton also said Bush should not be faulted if banned weapons of mass destruction aren't found. Said the president, "I don't think you can criticize the president for trying to act on the belief that they have a substantial amount of chemical and biological stock. That is what I was always told."
WHAT? That is what he had always been told? Was that a slip of ye ole tongue? Is that the data Sandy Burglar Berger stole? WHAT? Bats in the belfry and the sound of crickets.

5/18/2003 Speech: Remarks at Tougaloo College Commencement
I supported the president when he asked the Congress for authority to stand up against weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
OOPS! I wonder if the salary Harry Smith is receiving is commensurate with his inability to "Google It". If his pay is any more than $2 per year, heads should roll. Try this: Google Bill Clinton and Iraq War...let me know what you come up with. K?

One more out of about 1.5M...Time Magazine, 6/28/2004
So you're sitting there as president, you're reeling in the aftermath of 9/11, so, yeah, you want to go get Bin Laden and do Afghanistan and all that, but you also have to say, well, my first responsibility now is to try everything possible to make sure that this terrorist network and other terrorist networks cannot reach chemical and biological weapons or small amounts of fissile material. I gotta do that. That's why I supported the Iraq thing.
The Iraq thing? The Iraq thing? I cannot believe that he would actually say that. The Iraq thing. I never want to hear any more whining about GWB's pronunciation problems or quips about his Texas swagger. The Iraq thing?

The man is a pathological liar. No ifs ands or buts. The Clintons are the Darlings of The Media and always have been. They represent the epitome of socialistic America so richly pined after and lustfully desirous to bring to the United States.

Over. My. Dead. Body.

A note from El Rushbo:
[...] He just got away with lying again on the CBS Early Show because their researchers couldn't find anything other than Clinton talking about weapons inspectors when they Googled. I find it just breathtaking, folks, I do, at how incompetent the Drive-By Media is. They can't do anything right, and they don't want to. They don't want to get it right where the Clintons are concerned. [...]
Dittos.

A while ago, others were chatting about this at memeorandum and at Captain Ed's.

Once Upon A Time, Waterboarding Was OK

~Snooper~

So, if I was for being against anything after I had decided to be against it before considering to be for and against a topic, does that give me any kind of credibility to the sound of mind? and, if I had changed my mind about a topic and didn't tell anyone until I got exposed for being a perpetrator of Double Standards for political expediency, does that lend me any credibility? Or, would being against something I was once for before I took a stand against something that I knew I should be for but political aspirations clouded my self-dignity, does that grant me the right to be credible?

I wonder if SoH Nancy Pelosi is asking herself those same questions. How disingenuous does one need to be before they are shown to be the charlatans we all knew they were from the very beginning? Where is the cut-off for disingenuousness (is that a word)? Are their certain levels that are acceptable before they become unacceptable? For that matter, what ever happened to personal integrity, honor and dignity? What ever happened to the Respect and Honor of The Office?

Would it not be much better if Honesty was indeed the Policy? Why hide behind the skirts of lies, deceit and despair? Surely, the old adage, "Beware your sins will find you out" is well known to these cretins in the United States CONgress...yes...no? Some would ask me. "What are you blathering about?". Thanks for asking.

Waterboarding and other sundry methods of interrogation. Frankly, I could care less. The current enemy is not signatories to the Geneva Conventions. Some would argue otherwise. That is their problem. I have seen the signatories to the Geneva Convention(s) and al Qaida ain't on there. Neither is Iraq...they refused to sign and their signature to the Geneva Convention was one of the Cease Fire Agreements in 1991...how soon the politicians ignore that fact...or, do they and did they?

Thusly, Al Qaida is not an internationally recognized Uniformed Force. They fire their rockets and missiles from school grounds, mosques and civilian housing areas. They are the first to whine about the Geneva Conventions, however, as they behead those they consider to be the enemy on video but, that is OK...they are doing the deal...sounds like our very own American anti-Americanists to me. I often wonder which group listens to which group and when. As our own "anti-war" thugs drag and burn American Troops in effigy , so did Al Qaida...the difference was the bodies were real.

The Washington Post has a piece out and it has the Elite of the DNC squirming, waffling and backpedaling like they have just met face to face their worst nightmare come true...The Truth. Blackfive has an observation worth repeating:
[...] This is exactly what happens when you try to be on both sides of the issue. When you whore yourself out to the extreme left to hold on to power by lying to them about what you really think. The part of this that is "classic" is that this issue is headed the way of Hillary and her parsing her Iraq War vote and John Kerry and his "for it before I was against it" B.S. [...]
Exactly so, Roger That and Copy. I would also like to add, checkmate. Right Wing News has a checkmate set in stone:

This story from the Washington Post clearly proves how today's objections to waterboarding, particularly from Congressional Democrats, is purely political grandstanding. When briefed on the interrogation techniques used against captured terrorists, the reaction from those in the room "was not just approval, but encouragement." Even current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was there and "did not raise objections at the time." [...]
Like Kagro X says over at the Daily KOSmonoffs: "Well?" And, yes, that is a direct challenge to Kadro X.

It will never cease to amaze me that the Leftinistra, the armies of the socialist liberals of the United States (not to upset anyone from Canada or anywhere else), will stoop to deeper and lower levels of disdain, lies and deceit to remain in power. This is yet one more example of the Smoking gun exposing them for what they are...enablers of derision and division all in the name of Political Power.

I have often vocalized the following, as Glenn Reynolds has as well:
[...] Lots of people who were talking tough back then subsequently changed their tunes -- out of either a sudden flowering of scruples or an unprincipled desire to go after the Bush Administration with any weapon that came to hand. But, you know, if you're going to say "it was different back then," it really has to be more than just an al--purpose excuse for politicians. It's also a reason not to hang people out to dry for doing what politicians, and the public, wanted back then, when things were so "different." Your call, but Jules Crittenden notes: "Next thing you know, someone's going to say the Clinton co-presidency thought Saddam had a nuclear program and backed regime change." [...]
Oh. Wait! They did! Check the video at Instapundit or, follow the video links I have made available at Let Freedom Ring. Many of us are asking the Elitist Holier Than Thou folks: If waterboarding was such a grand idea way back when the world was a dangerous place, why is it an abhorrent activity now, seeing that the world is still a dangerous place? If it was acceptable then, why not now? Has the world gotten any more safer all of a sudden?

This whole waterboarding issue is another White Tiger non-issue issue. The practice ended nearly 4 years ago and operated under Congressional oversight and only one objected then...Nancy wasn't one of them...neither was Hillary. To use this non-issue as an issue for the upcoming elections, knowing that the practice is no longer utilized, reveals how utterly afraid the Leftocrats in the United States are about the upcoming elections.

Spin that.

I have a hint of the future for them: We win...you lose.

Invented Stories Passed On As Fact

~Snooper~

A friend of mine often says, "Stupidity cannot go unanswered." Such is the case here.

Seeing that the Leftinistra are falling apart and their support wanes into the Abyss of Obscurity they have dug for themselves, they feel they must invent stories. The following fable was written by a someone that evidently knows another someone that said that they knew someone that was able to overhear a conversation. As pathetic as that sounds, is it any wonder why no one of substance or of a sound mind takes these fools seriously? From the KOSmonoff smintheus: (poor thing) Naturally, because it is Bash Bush opportunity, the "he said she said they said" scenario MUST be true.
[...] I won't mock Dowd's concern over his son's deployment. It's a noble sentiment, for once. Parents live in terror when their children are sent off to war, or caught up in wars that come in search of them. It would be a far better world if all politicians came to recognize what dread war holds.
If they would take this President as their model of how not to behave
At a private reception held at the White House with newly elected lawmakers shortly after the election, Bush asked Webb how his son, a Marine lance corporal serving in Iraq, was doing.

Webb responded that he really wanted to see his son brought back home, said a person who heard about the exchange from Webb.

"I didn't ask you that, I asked how he's doing," Bush retorted...I wonder what the "real" conversation was...
Naturally the "report" is as follows: (Emphasis mine...key phrases)
Son also rises in testy Webb-Bush exchange
By Emily Heil
Posted: 11/29/06 12:00 AM [ET]

President Bush has pledged to work with the new Democratic majorities in Congress, but he has already gotten off on the wrong foot with Jim Webb, whose surprise victory over Sen. George Allen (R-VA) tipped the Senate to the Democrats. [I suppose that statement is theoretically lending some credibility to the rest of this farcial story?]

Webb, a decorated former Marine officer, hammered Allen and Bush over the unpopular war in Iraq while wearing his son's old combat boots on the campaign trail. It seems the president may have some lingering resentment. [Note the unsubstantiated and emotionally based BS?]

At a private reception held at the White House with newly elected lawmakers shortly after the election, Bush asked Webb how his son, a Marine lance corporal serving in Iraq, was doing. [Almost factual]

Webb responded that he really wanted to see his son brought back home, said a person who heard about the exchange from Webb. [Oh? Second hand hearsay?]

"I didn't ask you that, I asked how he's doing," Bush retorted, according to the source. [Does anyone seriously believe ANY President would say that?]

Webb confessed that he was so angered by this that he was tempted to slug the commander-in-chief, reported the source, but of course didn't. It's safe to say, however, that Bush and Webb won't be taking any overseas trips together anytime soon. [First of all, only a demented fool would actually believe any of this took place in the current BDS driven atmosphere of the idiots in DC.]

"Jim did have a conversation with Bush at that dinner," said Webb's spokeswoman Kristian Denny Todd. "Basically, he asked about Jim's son, Jim expressed the fact that he wanted to have him home." Todd did not want to escalate matters by commenting on Bush's response, saying, "It was a private conversation." [Oh. Didn't want the "unidentified source to made out to be a liar, eh? BDS works wonders on the political scene.]

A White House spokeswoman declined to give Bush's version of the conversation. [No doubt. Using the same pathetic reporting of this fool, I will claim that GWB asked for this to stop right this very moment because it never took place.]
Do you see how these ignorant libtards stretch things into their demented and twisted views?

Simply amazing and the idiots that read their crap will NEVER read the links provided and will swallow whatever they need to swallow to feed their hatred for GWB.

General Batiste Consorts With The Enemy?

~Snooper~

I suppose the anti-Americanist groups will be howling that sentiment fairly soon enough.

HT to Blue Crab Boulevard
Major General John Batiste, long touted by the anti-war left as a critic of the war in Iraq (he was) has abruptly switched sides, quit the anti-war Vote Vets group and has joined with Pete Hegseth and Vets for Freedom. An op-ed piece in the Washington Post co-authored by the two men calls for an end to the political posturing in Washington. [...]
We shall see. In commenting whether or not the Leftinistra will begin their nasty diatribes towards the "turn-coat" General they once had in their back pockets, BCB writes:

Well, you know they can't do the latter. They are emotionally invested in forcing a defeat. So its off to the attack! (Alternatively, they may simply ignore Batiste and pretend he never was with them before he was against them.)
That's so truly funny, as in odd, it is truly sad.

Way back in Nov of 2006, an eternity in internet circles, wasn't it General Batiste the one that said that a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq was a really bad idea? And, was it not this same General that said otherwise BEFORE the elections of Nov 2006? Just wondering out loud here.

So, we see that victory has a thousand fathers while anti-war Generals switch sides and cross the crazy lines. While all eyes that have a clue are looking towards Iraq, the once confused and beguiled proponents of defeatist rhetoric see the light and add their footnotes to history.

In the op-ed in the Washington Post by Pete Hegseth and General Batiste, we find many words of wisdom; words so alien to the current collection of political hacks in Congress and within the electorate.
Congress has been entangled in a war-funding debate that pits war "supporters" against antiwar "defeatists." With all sides seemingly entrenched, a stalemate looms. The Pentagon, meanwhile, will soon begin stripping money from its training budget to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our military men and women deserve better than partisan politics; they deserve honest assessments of our nation's performance in fighting the Long War. [...] read the rest
It has been a long time since we have men of stature utter these words and I, as a DAV, hope and pray that our pathetic and self-absorbed politicians will set aside their trivial aspirations for the good of the nation as a whole. I might add, since when does an insignificant few dictate to the rest of the nation? In light of recent data, the "anti-war" crowds are way low on the totem pole of significance.

The op-ed at the WaPo is well worth the read and therein, the two once vehemently opposed philosophies now agree on five points. You will need to read the article to catch the full meanings:

Hegseth and Baptiste point to five fundamental tenets they believe America must rally behind.

First, the United States must be successful in the fight against worldwide Islamic extremism.

Second, whether or not we like it, Iraq is central to that fight.

Third, the counterinsurgency campaign led by Gen. David Petraeus is the correct approach in Iraq.

Fourth, our strategy in fighting the Long War must address Iran.

Fifth, our military capabilities need to match our national strategy.

The about-face by General Batiste has significant impact to the tune of a 10.5 on the seismic counters. First, he has recognized that the Surge is by-God working and that the VoteVets group, financed by Soros, is wrong.

I have been preaching those five points ever since the Democratic Party Leadership and their RINO moppets began their cut and run and redeploy idiocy.
[...] We have seen this ruthless enemy firsthand, and its global ambitions are undeniable. This struggle, the Long War, will probably take decades to prosecute. Failure is not an option. [...]
Did you hear that, America? FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION. Then, there are these words that I know for a fact have been vocalized but the Loony anti-Americanists ignore them at their own peril.

[...] Today's tactical gains in Iraq -- while a necessary pre-condition for political reconciliation -- will crumble without a deliberate and comprehensive strategy. [...]
Exactly so. and, the article ends with the words I also know for a fact I myself and my fellow veterans have plastered every where we could...

[...] Americans must mobilize for the Long War -- bolster our strained military, galvanize industry to supply troops with what they need right now and fund the strategy with long-term solutions. We have no doubt that Americans will rally behind a call to arms.

America's veterans --young and old -- are resolved to support and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. This commitment, and nothing less, should compel us to stand together, in and out of uniform. Would that Congress finds the courage to bury its pride and do the same. [...]
I have my Go Bag(s) ready. Just say the word.

One should wonder if the same people that lauded General Batiste as a leading authority on the War In Iraq will reconsider their stands or will they shrug him off as a Chicken Hawk or something else just as demeaning and disingenuous.

Similar thoughts are here.

Another Day Which Will Live In Infamy

~Snooper~

As Blackfive (Uncle Jimbo) said of his Great Uncle, my Father speaks not much of 12/6/41 or 12/7/41 either.

The full and authentic text of FDR's speech to the America people can be viewed and heard here. Never seen before pictures can be viewed here.

My Dad is a WWII Veteran and Hero, still alive but not so well these days. When we are together and we are discussing the current war, he cries - not because he is sad, per se - but for what our politicians are doing and how they are acting. "Back in my day, these fools would be in jail or hung for what they are doing." I agree and wish we had men of courage that would respond in the same manner.

My Dad calls the current crop of "defeatist fools", as he so labels them, "wanna-be" Nips and "wanna-be fascists". My Dad will not view, listen to or watch the fool Reid and, my Dad being a devout Christian such as he is, I am shocked when he calls the Troll Reid, "A GD as****e". I remind my Dad that an as****e has a purpose and he cheers up and chuckles and says, "Yes, son. An as****e does have a purpose. I stand corrected."

What little I know of my Dad's function in the Great War, I sense that his service was one of sincere Patriotism. He has told me many times that when he and my Mother have passed away, I will have access to the contents of his safe deposit boxes and the contents of his vault in the basement. He has made me vow that I will never make public the contents therein and I take that vow seriously. I do know that he was shot down over France hours before D-Day and he spent 4 days behind enemy lines. He avoided capture and eventually made it back to England to go at it again.

His service in the Great War gets oddly mysterious after that since he shipped out to the PTO shortly after he had made it back to England. He speaks nothing of the PTO. Silence and demeanor is unmistakably evident and one does not press my Dad, or my Mother for that matter, for the stories needing to be told. They both told me that they will take those memories to their graves.

My Dad is proud of my brother's service, my service and the service of his first grandson now serving. I am as well. I heard the call, my brother heard the call and so did my son.

I find it difficult to speak of my brother's service because he was oddly silent as well. My brother was KIA in Quan Tri Province in February of 1968.

As we reflect upon this day of our history as a nation, let us compare the Patriotism then to the Patriotism we see today. Kind of sad, actually. It will please me to no end to witness the generation of the hippies die off.

Remember the heroes of the days of yore

The Leftinistra Will Be Redeploying To Okinawa Soon?

~Snooper~

The question is, will the people of Okinawa allow them to emigrate there?

As the Leftinistra, comprised of the likes of Reid and Pelosi, remove all doubt as to the Pathology of A Defeatist, the American People tire of the continual abasement of our troops and the Leftinistra find themselves caught between rocks and hard places with no way out.

Senator Harry Reid had one comment correct but he had the angle all wrong. The Surge which is not working is the one he and his genre of fools has created. The Defeatist Surge has failed.

As the Change In Direction In Iraq was about to take hold, the Senate unanimously confirmed General David Petraeus and, within 30 days or so, promptly did the usual turn-coat dance and declared the man they unanimously confirmed incompetent. Every time I think of that event, I shake my head in disdain, contempt and guttural disgust. What kind of deranged mentality causes an individual and a "ruling body" to confirm without descent a Commanding General and then turn around and call that confirmed Commanding General incompetent before plans are even implemented in the field?

The incidents involving the Leftinistra v General Petraeus was the beginning of the end for the Defeatist Surge. The Defeatist Surge had some momentum before the MoveOnDotFakeOrgasm ad against the General but when the ad hit and the Leftinistra refused to denounce it and renounce the ad along with the organization placing the ad, it stirred up the True Patriots in America. They opened up their own Abyss of Obscurity.

Ever since the attacks against General Petraeus, the Leftinistra's momentum spiraled in an unrecoverable tail spin. In recent weeks, this has been duly noted and confirmed.

With the ugly realities that close to 200,000 non-military DoD employees will be getting lay-off notices a week before Christmas due to the political games the Loser Left has been playing with our troops, they are now "willing to negotiate". Now, isn't that sweet?
Each day lately, Democrats inch closer to giving President Bush more money for the war in Iraq without any serious mandates for withdrawing U.S. troops.

Democratic leaders are loath to acknowledge they've backed off, but lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, as well as congressional aides, say Democrats are trying to find a way to provide continued troop funding while searching for some compromises that show they're still intent on challenging the president on the war. [...]
Their end is nigh and they don't even know it...or do they? They must know that if their moonbat base finds out that yet another campaign promise has been broken, there is going to be hell to pay and more pink-frilled flakes will camp out on their front lawns popping pills, smoking dope and snorting who knows what.

[...] "We have to come off this lack of funding for the military operations," the lawmaker said. "We have to continue the funding. We don't want to look like we're against troop funding. ... We should separate the funding discussion from the rest of the war.

A troop withdrawal funding bill received 53 votes last month in the Senate, seven short of the 60 needed to break a filibuster.

So Democrats are searching for something that asserts congressional power but doesn't necessarily have a mandated troop withdrawal. [...]
Why they still press for unilateral withdrawal when victory is at hand is not only ludicrous, it is political suicide. I have no sympathy for the pathetic cretins. No, Sir. Not one bit. The Leftinistra started this Come To Jesus revelation approximately one year before the 2006 mid-term elections. We informed all that would listen then that this day which we are witnessing now will come and, it would be this ugly. We hate being as correct as we are at A Newt One but there you have it. It is what it is.

Dancing With The Moonbats

~Snooper~

Why do the leaders of a particular American political party think the American People are so stupid? It never ceases to amaze me and upon every turn, cut and run, they never run out of disingenuous buffoonery, as if there is any other kind. I suppose their disguising and hiding their blatant unethicalities (is that a word?) under the blanket of the Christmas Season can be considered as quaint or cute or...obviously stupid. Your pick.
The annual lighting of the Capitol Christmas tree always signals two things in Washington -- the kickoff of the holiday season and the beginning of deal cutting time in Congress. [...]
Nothing like playing politics with the lives of American citizens, eh?

Morons. I guess they assume too much.

Al Gore Lied About Global Warming

~Snooper~

HT Don Surber...and Sister Toldjah

Well, we all knew The Goracle lied and here is the Smoking Gun. One should be asking themselves many questions.

"How long did he know that he was going to lie?"

"How long did he plan on keeping up the charade?"

"How many people has his lies affected in such a despicable manner?"

"Should he make restitution?"

"Is this why he still flies around in a G IV and travels in SUV caravans?"
