Vets For Freedom: Announcing the National Heroes Tour!

Vets for Freedom Members,

Vets for Freedom is proud to announce the National Heroes Tour, a coast-to-coast bus tour aimed at honoring America's veterans, active troops and their families.

The bus tour kicks off in San Diego on March 14 and will include 22 stops in 16 states over three weeks, culminating on the steps of Capitol Hill on April 8th, for another "Vets on the Hill" event. The tour will bring together veterans from across the country to tell their stories and highlight their sacrifices, as well as rally support for successfully completing the missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In addition to the local heroes we pick up along the way, here are a few of the heroes that will be featured on the tour:

David Bellavia-recipient of the Silver Star, and nominee for the Medal of Honor and author of House to House (a memoir about house-to-house combat in Iraq)

Marcus Luttrell-recipient of the Navy Cross and sole survivor of a mission in which four Navy SEALS were sent into a Taliban stronghold on the Afghan-Pakistan border; Luttrell was badly injured yet managed to escape enemy capture and later author the New York Times best-selling book Lone Survivor.

Marco Martinez-recipient of the Navy Cross for heroic action on the battlefield in Iraq and author of Hard Corps, Martinez was involved in gang activity in Los Angeles and joined the Marine Corps to straighten out his life

Steve Russell-recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device for his actions in Iraq; Lieutenant Colonel Russell led the battalion responsible for the capture of Saddam Hussein

Jeremiah Workman-recipient of the Navy Cross for his heroic actions in Fallujah; Corporal Workman's actions, under fire and while injured, led to the death of over 24 enemy insurgents and saved fellow Marines from being ambushed.

The veterans on the National Heroes Tour represent the courage, conviction, and commitment of our men and women in the U.S. armed forces. These highly decorated veterans-as well as local heroes-will tell their personal stories directly to the American public through local media, rallies, speeches, debates, and personal meetings.

What Can I Do To Support the Tour?

Donate. Our goal is to raise $25,000 this week for the Tour. Would you consider a $100 donation today? Renting a bus and driving across the country is an expensive undertaking, and your donation will go directly to supporting the Tour. Hundreds Turn Out to Support U.S. Troops in - yes - Berkeley, California!!!

Mark this day down folks. It was Wednesday, October 17, 2007 that hundreds of pro-troop supporters turned out for a giant pro-troop rally in Berkeley, CA (one of the most anti-military & anti-war cities in this nation). Not only did the size of the rally shock the San Francisco Bay Area news media, it surprised the anti-war activists at Code Pink who were outnumbered on their own turf!.

Move America Forward and other pro-troop organizations and leaders put on a pro-troop rally to counter the harassment of the U.S. Marine Recruiting Center by Code Pink in Berkeley.

For 3 weeks the U.S. Marine Recruiting Center has faced protests (including vandalism and defacing of their building) and taunts against the Marines that they were "traitors" and "liars" and "murderers" and guilty of "assassination."

Stop Democrats From Tying the Hands of Our Troops

This comes in from our friends at Vets For Freedom:

As a pro-mission veterans group Vets For Freedom supports General Petraeus and his recommendations for victory in Iraq. Lately many of our nation’s senators have attempted to hamper the military’s ability to implement those recommendations, and as a result have made our ability to win in Iraq and Afghanistan all the harder. Ohio Senator George Voinovich is one such senator.

Last week Ohio veterans taking part in the Vets For Freedom trip to Capitol Hill had a meeting with Senator Voinovich. At the end of the meeting the senator gave them a copy of his proposed resolution that would set timelines for Petraeus’ recommendations. The resolution has not yet been introduced to the Senate but we at Vets For Freedom feel it is necessary to condemn the proposed resolution outright.

As veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan we understand the battlefield is constantly changing. Any attempt to set strict timelines for the military can be potentially harmful as a result. While Senator Voinovich may believe he has the best interest of the military in mind we believe General Petraeus should be allowed to operate without politicians hampering his ability to do his job.

Vets For Freedom urges senators to support victory against America’s enemies by allowing the military to do its job free from political constraints. Instead of more resolutions what we call for is support for General Petraeus as he has already shown his policies like the ‘surge’ in Iraq are working. Given more time we believe the quickest way out of Iraq is through victory.

Contact Senator Voinovich and Tell him not to propose legislation that would tie the hands of our military. It is not up to congress to tell our Generals how to fight the war. Also, voice your support for General Petraeus and victory in Iraq. Urge him to allow the military to do its job through to completion.

Here we have France of all nations warning the world of war LONG before the United States has been warning the world...imagine that and go figure.

In addition, Ahmadinejad declared that the world was now at an historic turning point. The history of the West, he said, had reached its end, and the appearance of the Hidden Imam, heralding the era of Islamic Shiite rule, was nigh.(1) Thus, he called on the nations of the world to rise up against the \nhegemony of the West, headed by the U.S., and predicted the imminent collapse of Israel, which he called Satan's standard-bearer.

It has come to our attention that our good friends at Move America Forward are being targeted by the anti-American left. It is not enough that these ultra-liberal forces think it fine to disparage our men and women in uniform. They are now targeting our supporters as they make their way to stand with us in Washington, DC, on 15 September.

They have threatened Melanie Morgan personally and have used the vilest language to harass our friends. Obviously, they have underestimated our resolve and the resolve of our friends in Move America Forward. This is their last-ditch attempt to derail the
counter-protest we have in store for A.N.S.W.E.R.

Turn out in force to welcome Move America Forward as they make their way across the country. These people must be reminded that the silent majority is silent no more!

After-Action Report: 17 August 2007, 1800 Hours Washington, NC

The Moonbats assembled in Washington, NC sank to a new low yesterday. As usual their crowd was small but larger than the week before. The Eagles responded to the call of battle and once again we had to chase their coward asses down the street since they do not want to stand in front of us and defend ‘who the hell knows’ their position.

The City of Washington was putting on a “block party” of music, food and dancing for the young people of Washington. I dare say there were a good thousand plus of teens, parents and the citizens of the wonderful city of Washington in attendance.

And then came the ROLLING THUNDER of Jacksonville, NC Chapter on their beautiful bikes accompanied by wives and friends. They also had many lady riders as well. What a beautiful sight to hold. They cruised by with their flags flapping in the breeze, their stereos blaring the Marine Corp Hymn, Anchors A Weigh, Star Spangled Banner and many others songs.

The Moonbat Scumbags were absolutely blown away. They were mortified! They had the pangs of fear sweep through their bodies and I think one of them peed in their pants. After a couple of “gun runs”, er… passes!, they parked their beautiful steeds of steel and walked up to our position on the line in their full regalia and hats.

I started laughing when the Moonbats came together in a huddle and I heard one exclaimed “Holy Sh*t” they are coming up here to get us. I think I could speak for the whole crowd of Eagles saying how proud we were to be an Eagle and a Vietnam Vet and see these brothers and sisters coming up to join us at our battle line. It was better than seeing the Cavalry save the day!
Now for the sad part of the evening. This demonstrates the MoonBat Scumbags will resort to anything. Because they were vastly outgunned, they begin to grab young people and anyone who would listen to them to recruit them on the spot to counter the Eagles. They especially went after the young people. They put these young teens IN FRONT OF THEM TO PROTECT THEMSELVES….! Just like the NVA would put innocent children and women in the front lines knowing the Americans would not fire on innocents!

How damn low can you get. Now the sickening part!

Many of the young people rode by blew their horns in support of the Eagles. Some wandered across the street and were mobbed by the Moonbats to sign their petition. Of one group of teens (5 in number) were conned into holding up signs for the Moonbats; “TEENS FOR PEACE” and the real low one a young lady probably sixteen years old holding a sign “FU*K BUSH”. The other disgusting sign was shown by a young lad, maybe 18-20 “POT FOR PEACE.”

Most of the Eagles on the field last night are fathers, mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers. Imagine yourself recruiting children to stand in front lines to protect yourself and then display signs of filth and disrespect. These Moonbats have NO HONOR, NO RESPECT, NO LOVE OF CHILDREN AND NOTHING ELSE but their own personal greed and stupid, moronic code of hate.

I am more proud of being an Eagle than ever before. All of us out there should be proud. We will win! We will see the face of America change. Our fathers generation screwed it up and we are going to fix it. I cannot imagine how much our brothers on the Wall are proud of us. If we could see them for day, I think they would say, “Well Done”.

Gathering Of Eagles Continue to Confront Cindy Sheehan: Central Park

Their success in this regard is phenomenal as we showed you just the other day when the GOE confronted Cindy Sheehan in Philly and Mother Sheehan ran away, yet again.

So, next stop: Central Park!!!!

Where: Central Park, East Meadow, 5th Ave & East 97th Street (Opposite Mt. Sinai Medical Center)
When: Sunday, July 29th, Noon to 6pm

We will proceed into the park and stake out a prominent location. We will voice our Support for our Troops and disdain for Ms. Sheehan as loudly and vocally as possible. We will use our first amendment right to free speech to interrupt her traitorous bile. Remember, Casey was a Hero, Cindy is a Zero!

Bring flags, signs, banners, cow bells, duck callers anything you might need for a day in the park with moonbats. If you arrive late just enter the park through that entrance and look for the cluster of American flags (we can be certain the traitors won’t have them). Background:

Cindy Sheehan, estranged mother of the hero, Casey Sheehan, who died in Iraq trying to help his wounded comrades, has made a career out of lending aid and comfort to our enemies. She has been a willing pawn of the radical left wing. Her celebrated retirement earlier this year ended this month when she decided to mount a “Walk for Humanity” (In which she hasn’t walked a mile) from Crawford, TX, to New York City.

The Gathering of Eagles has met her every step of the way. We mounted counter protests at Ft. Benning, Georgia, Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotteville, Virginia, Arlington, Virginia and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She retreated from many of those engagements.

We want her to know that we in New York support our troops and have nothing but scorn and disdain for anyone espousing treason who stands to encourage the enemy to prolong and intensify their actions against our brave men and women. We want her to know that the Gathering of Eagles and all our allies and friends will do everything in our power to shout truth to her seditious lies. We want her to know, when she leaves for her Mideast “Traitor’s Tour” next week, that Americans despise what she is doing!

We want our troops in the field to know that we have their backs at home; whenever and wherever we must be. They are sacrificing years of their lives for us, we can damn well sacrifice a day for them!

Vets For Freedom: Call To Action

Last week, Vets for Freedom launched our "10 Weeks to Testimony" campaign and committed to leading the charge to support General Petraeus and stop anti-war radicals and politicians on Capitol Hill from undermining the mission in Iraq.

Unfortunately-despite thousands of phone calls to Capitol Hill this week--even more Republican senators have bowed to political pressure and declared defeat, despite progress being shown by General Petraeus's new counter-insurgency strategy.

Next week, politicians in Washington, DC are poised to sell out America's safety because election season is near. As veterans, we cannot allow this to happen. The information battle Vets for Freedom was planning for September is upon us in July, therefore we must adapt, overcome, and do something immediately. Our collective voice must be heard on Capitol Hill, and it must be heard now!

This is a call to action. We are asking every Iraq and Afghanistan veteran who believes in supporting the mission--and defeating America's enemies--to converge on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on Tuesday, July 17. It's time the fighters in this war tell their representatives--face to face-that now is no time to betray the mission.

What You Can Do This Week!

Week #2: Converge on Capitol Hill, July 17 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have already sacrificed blood, sweat, and tears on foreign battlefields. Now America needs one more thing while you're home -- one day of your time. We are the last line of defense.

We're not going to protest, wave signs, or scream slogans. We are going to make our voices heard, in a professional manner, in keeping with the finest traditions of our great country and military. I have no doubt you will want to join us.

But you say: "It's an entire Tuesday, and travel is expensive!" We share these legitimate concerns, but answer with this fundamental question: If not you, then who? Who else will tell Congress to give General Petraeus, his strategy, and our comrades time to complete the mission? It has come to this. It must be us.

But you also say: "It's such short notice, and I have to work." Again, legitimate concerns, but we have already received commitments from numerous veterans with full-time jobs who have said--no matter the notice--I'll be there. We need the same from you. Your country needs the same from you.

You might also say, "I'm Active Duty, I can't do this type of stuff." There is a common misconception that troops serving on active duty cannot participate in events like this. This is false. As long as you are 1) out of uniform; 2) not speaking on behalf of "the military"; and 3) not protesting, you are absolutely allowed to be involved. The same goes for National Guard and Reserve troops.

We hope to raise enough money--from the supporters of Vets for Freedom who cannot make it to Washington, DC--to ensure that everyone who makes the trip is reimbursed at some level. Every dollar donated to Vets for Freedom between now and July 17 will go directly to covering travel costs of veterans.

So, how do you get involved? Be bold. Take a stand. And join your fellow Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, and Marines on Capitol Hill. Here's what you need to do:

If you are a veteran and are ready to take a stand and join us on Capitol Hill on July 17, please send an email to Adriel at adriel@vetsforfreedom.org as soon as possible. The email should contain the following 6 points of information:

1. Name and basic information (phone number, email, and zip code)
2. Military background (OIF/OEF experience, unit, current status)
3. Home state (and any other states you have lived in)
4. Your most probable means of transportation to Washington, DC
5. A very brief biography (no more than one paragraph)
6. Any questions you might have

When Vets for Freedom receives your email, we will email you the following information as soon as possible:

• Time and place for initial link up in Washington, DC (assume between 8--9am)

Supporters of Our Veterans
You may not be able to make it to Washington, DC, but that doesn't mean you can't still support our mission on July 17. You can do the following three things:

1) Donate. As we've already mentioned, every dollar donated in the next 4 days will be used to reimburse the travel costs of veterans who will be paying their own way to Capitol Hill.

2) Call your Senator. The response to our Week 1 "call to action" was incredible. Thank you. Thousands of calls were made, and we need to do this again. Reinforce our veterans on Capitol Hill by calling the 2 Senators from your home state on July 17 and telling them to support the troops-and the mission!

3) Forward this Email. Send this email to everyone you know. Post it on your blog. Print it out and hand it out to friends. Get the word out, so we can get as many veterans on Capitol Hill as possible.

This is our mission. This is our moment. Join Vets for Freedom on Capitol Hill and do your part to support our fellow soldiers and Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan

I have no proof dems and libs are involved in this, but frankly, after what we’ve seen the last six months in Congress, the corruption, money laundering, extreme ethics violations, etc., it would NOT surprise me one single iota to find they are indeed behind this in some measure.

Just what am I talking about? The Nigerian Scam with a twist. Using a US Soldier’s name to get attention–a currently serving US soldier. I mean, after all, let’s see how far these bottom feeding slime will take the name of the United States, engender further hatred toward those that defend our freedom, splatter them with more of the scandal that clings to dems and libs like the designer clothes they adore.

In other words, I’m royally PISSED OFF, and based on the cowards and criminals in congress, protesting in our streets, releasing shockumentaries, babbling from their soapboxes, I’m gonna say what I damn well please and if y’all don’t like it, tough. MY country, MY soldiers, MY freedom of speech.

Here’s what I got in my email (I’ve left all grammatical and structural errors intact):

FIRST of all should any of you get emails from this typical Nigerian scam, there is a government agency to report it to: phishing-report@us-cert.gov. Use this address liberally.

Second, there really is a Sgt. Justin Harris (Sgt. Justin Harris, a combat engineer who is a team leader for Company E and hails from Roseville, Calif. ), serving in Iraq. Combating the Moonbats: Times Square, May 19th

While Eagles nationwide were standing up to support our recruiters yesterday, GOE-NY had a special mission. They were countering antiwar leftists in Times Square. The moonbats were planning to show up and do what they called “Torture Theater,” or a “reenactment” of the “torture” that terrorist detainees are undergoing at Gitmo. Never mind that there IS no torture at Gitmo. Never mind that as we speak, three of our nation’s soldiers are undergoing the most horrific torture imaginable at the hands of the enemy. These antiwar leftists have no couth, no respect, no love for our soldiers in harm’s way.

That’s why GOE-NY had to shut them down.

Eagles representing five states–and from as far away as North Carolina–converged on Times Square yesterday to answer the threat, and Dan Maloney, GOE-NY Coordinator, had a preliminary report on the event.

It was a GREAT day in Times Square!

We performed the ORA portion of our activity on schedule and the recruiters were very interested in hearing about GOE. The Company Commander for the NY area was there and invited us to talk at one of their affairs. Dr. Rauol’s gracious delivery of heros were a big hit and the recruiters came out later to enjoy the spectacle of us facing off against the moonbats saying it was the first time in recent memory when they could venture outside during a demonstration at their location.

Then the REAL fun began!

The Moonbats finally showed up to stage their anti-Gitmo street theater and found that we had secured the ground and would not let them get more than a foothold on it. They had to split their forces between a small group at the narrow point of the traffic island away from the recruiting station and on a street corner a block away.

We totally overwhelmed the small contingent immediately to our front while a small group of ours infiltrated their street theater act and poked fun at their representation of Guantanamo. You will notice our infiltrators in photos wearing orange ‘Club Gitmo’ t-shirts with snarky blurbs on the back.

We had passersby chanting USA! with us, we greeted several Iraq veterans and current duty servicemen as they passed by, we met a lady from Australia and a Lebanese man living in Germany who cheered us on. It was just a wonderful and fun time for every one of us. We handed out hundreds of our flyer describing what we were doing there today and inviting people to New London and West Point.

The point at which the moonbats slunk away was when we chanted “Where’s your flag!” and then deployed a giant American flag while we sang America the Beautiful and Star Spangled Banner before reciting the pledge of allegiance.

In all the action lasted mainly from 11:00am to 4:30pm. Some over achievers (I’m looking at you Jim B.!) staked out the ground at 8am!

The beautiful and resourceful Urban Infidel wrote a report and posted lots of photos on her blog, as well as a slide show.

The forces of the Left wing have decided to make a mockery of every American serviceman or woman this Saturday at Times Square. They have decided to perform street theater decrying the supposed torture of inmates at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility at a time when three brave American servicemen are in the hands of Islamic terrorists in Iraq. They have decided to put on this travesty at the recruiting station where we will be holding a Support the Troops rally that day. They have effectively declared war on the United States, our Military, and the Gathering of Eagles organization. They have no concern for OUR soldiers who are likely being tortured, mutilated and beheaded even as I write this, This is an OUTRAGE, this is TREASON, this has got to be smothered by a display of patriotism so great that even the news media cannot reasonably assert that they are the majority in this country.

We need every one of you to contact your friends, family and neighbors and turn out at Times Square to ridicule these leftist morons. Spread the word and forward this alert to everyone you know.

If their actions in the face of the manifest results of ISLAMIC captivity for our troops does not motivate you, if your blood does not boil at the thought that these pissants will be featured on the evening news, if you care not a whit that OUR men and women are jeopardized by their seditious behavior, if something else is more important than standing up for OUR soldiers, then email me to be removed from the GOE email list because you have already surrendered.

If, however, you know that we need to support our troops who daily place their lives on the line to protect our freedom. If you know that their many sacrifices should be honored and praised. If you know that the enemy is both foreign and domestic. If you know that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Larry Hoffa, XO to Larry Bailey. I find myself in this position as a fellow Eagle who strives for the same goals with as much enthusiasm and dedication as our Leader and all of our Eagles.

Our mission is clear, and as long as we stay focused to our task, we will continue to succeed. It is the responsibility of every “Eagle” to spread the word to fellow Americans who have the same feelings as we do and get them on board! Yes, most of us are veterans; however, all of us are Americans who share the same goals, who love this great Nation, support our troops, and will no longer be the silent majority and watch our American flag be burned and our military be slandered.

Our first “Gathering Of Eagles,” on March 17th, in Washington, D.C., was the beginning of many Gatherings to come. This was the stepping stone to many rallies which have already taken place across this great nation. As we continue to grow, it is imperative that Eagles confront every Anti-War, Anti-American Rally across the country. As we do this, the liberal news media will have no choice but to cover our side as well. Each and every Eagle needs to Support their Region/State Coordinators and be ready to “Move Out” at a moments notice.

I would like to thank all the Eagles who have volunteered as Region/State Coordinators in aiding our Organization to continue the Mission. A special thanks and appreciation to Kit & Heidi for their dedication to the cause. The hours they spend do not go unnoticed by all of us.

Thank you, Harry Riley, for the magnificent job you have done in getting “Gathering of Eagles” off to such an astounding start. Without you, the job wouldn’t have been done so well. You were just perfect for the job at hand, and America is in your debt. Thanks again.

Eagles, this has been one amazing trip, and it ain’t over. Just thinking about how swiftly thousands of patriotic Americans came together and assembled at The Wall in Washington blows my mind.

Harry Riley and I spoke by telephone in late January or early February and agreed that Jane Fonda’s and Cindy Sheehan’s March on the Pentagon was not going to be given a free pass as Fonda’s was in 1967. Less than two months later, thousands of us demonstrated that the leftists were not going to dominate US policy like they did in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

This time, America was going to register its disapproval, and, by goodness, WE DID! The tens of thousands of us who gathered near The Wall to protect that sacred memorial sent a resounding message to Fonda, Sheehan, and Code Pink that we will NOT stand idly by while the honor of our defenders of freedom is besmirched.

We honestly planned to be a “One-Note Charlie” and go home after registering our disagreement with the America-hating crowd that sullied the ground of our nation’s capital. However, the impact of the victory we experienced made us thirsty for more of the same.
It is therefore with great pleasure that I confirm to all of you that we are here to stay. We don’t know exactly what we will do or when and how we will do it, but you can be sure that America-loving patriots are going to be proud to be a part of our effort!

We intend to go on the offensive or defensive whenever our “kitchen cabinet” of Eagles from across the nation decides collectively that a time for specific action has come. We are currently looking at a major “Support the Troops” gathering back in DC over the Memorial Day weekend in conjunction with “Ride to the Wall,” “Free Republic,” “Rolling Thunder” and other like-minded organizations.

Having tasted victory on St. Patrick’s Day 2007, we intend to make a diet of it. Stick with us, and we will work miracles.

The fierce determination of the eagle shown through in our nation’s capitol. They came from near and far, some as far away as Canada to answer the calling to defend our sacred memorials on March 17, 2007 from anti-war protesters who have been known to get out of control in recent marches.

Ordinary Americans supporting the troops, and proud Vets from past and present wars, met up in Washington D.C. under the banner of the Gathering of Eagles. Approximately 30,000 Eagles came together to show that the voice of the silent majority, those who support the troops and their mission, must be heard!

What an outstanding day! The Eagles soared!

You should be very proud of your fellow veterans, families, and supporters. There’s so much to tell, and we encourage you to post your experiences in the the comments.

In the meantime, two items of business: 1) we have a gallery open for you to upload your digital photos to the website. That way you can share your photos with others. See the tab in the top right corner of the site. 2) the National Parks Service called with their official estimate of the Eagle turn-out today…30,000!

Fox News reported today that the anti-war protesters had significantly less than they expected. However, they are erroneously reporting that the Eagles were there in “equal numbers”. The truth is that we outnumbered them six to one!

Consider…ANSWER had a year to plan their well-publicized event and were hoping for around 100,000. They actually drew about 5,000-7,000. The Gathering of Eagles, on the other hand, had about six weeks to plan an unprecedented response - and with no advertising, no publicity, no celebrity or political endorsement, and no big money, we had about 30,000 boots on the ground!

The volunteers poured themselves into this historic event, and all of you who attended gave so much to be there. I’ll stop here and let your words speak for themselves.
