This Blog Is Moving
Greetings. After this weekend, this Take Our Country Back Blog will be moving to the new web site. Too many conservatives are getting zapped by the intolerant dweebs of the Obama Goons and seeing that this editing platform is a free site, Blogger can do pretty much what it feels like doing. Hence, I now have a paid site and will be migrating the last 1400+ posts shortly.
So, one day, you just may click this page somewhere and it will show up as "private". It has been fun but the intolerant Czarbie Goon Squads are brain dead idiots. They can come play at the new site which I OWN outright.
The "Fight for Victory Tour" launches this Monday, September 3rd - can you believe it? After all the weeks of planning, we are now about to embark on one of the most ambitious pro-troop efforts in our nation's history.
SEVERAL KEY UPDATES:
*** We will be sending out an alert on the "Fight for Victory Tour" to Newsmax.com's email list of over 860,000 people, in an effort to raise awareness for the caravan and 27 pro-troop rallies and get people to turn out. This will be a great boost to turning out crowds, but it was also an expensive list for us to rent, costing thousands of dollars, so any help you can provide to cover this cost would be very much appreciated - CLICK HERE TO HELP PAY THIS COST
*** There are 3 new media articles about the "Fight for Victory Tour" that you'll enjoy reading:
*** We've been contacted by over one-dozen media outlets just this morning alone - the word is getting out and we haven't even launched the national victory tour yet!
*** Our kickoff event in Carson City, Nevada on Monday, September 3rd (at 9:00 AM in Mills Park) will have presidential candidate (and Congressman) Duncan Hunter speaking, a prominent Nevada State Senator, representatives from Congressman Dean Heller's and Senator John Ensign's offices, and a large contingent of veterans, military families and pro-troop supporters.
We've learned that Senator Harry Reid's office and anti-victory, anti-war activists are trying to organize their own counter protest in Carson City, Nevada.
It's important with all the media attention that will be given to our kickoff event that we have a huge crowd of supporters present. So if there is any way you can make it to this event (no matter how far you have to travel) can you please join us?
You can also then "caravan along" with us in your own vehicle as we head on to our 2nd pro-troop rally stop in Sacramento, California.
What would or what should they expect? Respect? Respect is earned. WE have men and women in uniform defending this nation and our own CONgress Critters do just about everything in their power "sliming" the troops. It is an unwise happenstance to rile up well trained military members. They have guns.
Three are some that have claimed that the troops got "wrong data" on the visiting cut and runners. Not hardly. They have access to the internet as well. The folks over at Think Progress just may want to do that one day...think progress. However, we all know what their "progressive thinking" "IS", don't we? And, anything they can do to undermine The Mission in Iraq, they will surely do, won't they? Much like the socialists at "Loon and Huff and Puff.
Truth hurts. Is she saying she lied when she said: “Our forces are caught in the middle of an escalating sectarian conflict in Iraq, with no end in sight”? Is she saying she is ashamed that she said: “Our forces are caught in the middle of an escalating sectarian conflict in Iraq, with no end in sight”? Is she saying she was misquoted when she said: “Our forces are caught in the middle of an escalating sectarian conflict in Iraq, with no end in sight”?
UPDATED! I disagree with the defective "thoughts" and sad attempt at "spin". Here is the real deal. It isn't that the GOP is in a bind with Warner's departure as CNN opines. On the contrary, it is the DNC that is in a bind. Warner may as well have BEEN a member of the DNC seeing that he voted with the Leftinistra more often than he didn't. Warner was a friend of the DNC and their defective and "regressive" ways and means.
The best thing the GOP can do at the moment is find a staunch Conservative to take his place. That is, IF they have the guts and moral fortitude to do so.
Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) announced Friday that he will not seek a sixth term in the Senate in 2008, bringing an end to more than three decades of service and setting in motion a battle for the open seat he will leave behind.
Speaking to reporters and constituents at the University of Virginia, Warner announced his intention to make this term his last.

Whenever the Socialist Left has an agenda they desire to bulldoze onto the public, it becomes an instant ‘crisis.’ Contrary thought or evidence is ridiculed and seen as heresy. Witness this in the urgency of pressing and alarmist issue of “Global Warming.”
From what I recall in school, the earth has been undergoing a constant series of changes for as long as man has been on it and naturally, before. As the Theory of Evolution was introduced into school teachings, one theory I recall to explain this concept of man evolving from lower life forms was Climate Change.
If, as evolutionists claim, a change in the earth’s temperature is responsible for man’s existence, changes in the earth’s temperature have been with us since the earth was formed.
Saying the earth’s temperature change is a naturally occurring circumstance does not help further the agenda of the Socialist Left, though. So, a crisis of environmental concern is born that is used to further take from all to give to the elite Socialist. The crisis was tried in the 1970’s and failed. The public just didn’t buy into all the hype over Global Cooling.
Today the claim is that man, you and I, have caused massive changes in the earth’s temperature and it must be reversed. Reversed by us giving up our luxuries of warm houses in the winter and cool houses in the summer. We are blasted for driving larger and safer vehicles and encouraged to drive smaller more “fuel efficient” vehicles, or give them up all together and use the transportation we may be provided by localities. Doing so also deprives us of a basic liberty of freedom of movement, going where we want when we want. Our dependence on “public transportation,” which we subsidize through taxes as well as fares, places us where the ‘elite’ want us to be when they want us there.
In the 1990’s we were presented with the ‘Kyoto Protocol,” an international agreement to limit greenhouse gases by industrialized nations by 2012. Somehow, the bulk of responsibility and cost of this protocol falls upon the United States as other developing nations that pump pollutants into the atmosphere, most notably Communist China, are exempted. If enacted, it could have resulted in a 66% increase in gas prices, and up to an 86.4% increase in our cost of electricity, costing each American family some $4,000 annually
As goods and even food costs us more, we lose buying power and who better than our government to step in “supply” us with our staples, in the amount they deem proper. Socialism 101! Rightfully, President Bush pulled out of this flawed treaty.
While cries of we must give up our SUV’s and large homes, being told we are using more than our fair share, the Socialist Elite flies around from conference to campaigns in Private Jets and builds mansion after mansion. Pointing out they are not living the standards of life they wish to impose on us elicits a defense of their purchasing “Carbon Offsets.”
Exactly what and how a Carbon Offset works is sort of elusive, but the way I interpret is, some leftist think tank somewhere decided that we are a each entitled to ‘X’ amount of pollution. Since those of us who must work day to day, 8 to 5 jobs will never quite use the allotted pollution, wealthy leftists, who wish to pollute more may “purchase” some of our pollutant allowance to use as their own. The purchase money does not come back to us, though, it remains with the “Carbon Offset Company” quite often set up and ran by one of the very Socialist Elites demanding we give our luxuries up.
And, of course, they may retain theirs! After all, they worked hard and earned it.
As I said in part 3, we had an effective pesticide, Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane, better known as DDT. Lethal disease as Malaria was nearly a thing of the past due to it being used to kill malaria spreading mosquitoes around the world, especially in sub-tropical regions known for monsoon rains and excessive mosquitoes.
In the 1940’s and 1950’s, concerns were raised about its potential effects on fish and other wildlife. Enough alarm was raised and public fear and concern placed in a gullible public that the manufacture and use of DDT was banned nearly worldwide. It was replaced in most malarial regions by less persistent, and more expensive, alternative insecticides. Human life took a backseat to leftist ideology and disease like Malaria have been on the rise.
Much like the flawed Kyoto Protocol, leftist convened another convention in Stockholm to “protect humans from and the environment from persistent organic pollutants,” pesticides like DDT that have helped humans more than it has hurt. Some actually wonder if this isn’t Global Population Control.
Socialism relies on the British legend and myth of Robin Hood, one who always took from the rich and gave to the poor. Socialist would you have believe that is their intent as well. Take notice of just who is doing the taking and who from. A sizeable portion of the takings remains with the Socialists who sit over us in power as they reap millions of dollars off of our taxes to pay for their vacations, luxury homes, opulent offices, vehicles, aircraft and clothing. Note too than they miss very few meals while you and I must scrape to get by.
While they imitate Robin Hood, they hide that they are the rich barons that Robin would have been taking from and we, the working class, are the ones he would have given the spoils too.
With current Congressional pay averaging about $170,000 per year, why else would they spend millions of dollars they can never regain to hold the offices they do? Power, that is why. The power to create programs that perpetuate their seats and pass laws beneficial to themselves and at one time, exempt themselves from having to follow those laws they imposed on us.
In the 1800’s, a German Philosopher named Karl Marx wrote a series of books and articles that advocated a Liberal philosophy used by the Bolsheviks during an expensive and unpopular war and gave birth to the Soviet Union.
Individuality ceased. Profits ceased. Self-determination ceased. Religious freedom ceased. Everything went to the elite sitting in power over the masses and whom they determined should be allowed more. The elite controlled the media and filtered what the public would read or hear.
Vladimir Lenin enlisted the Bolsheviks to take control of the Socialist Democratic Labor Party. He was appalled at European Socialists support for World War One and in speeches, when he returned to Russia in 1917, urged peasants to take the land from the rich landlords and the industrial workers to seize the factories.
By 1960, after hundreds of thousands of citizens simply disappeared, we had Premier Kruschev declaring they would bury us.
Today, in campaign speeches for the United States Presidency, we hear, “We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” We also hear, "The other day the oil companies recorded the highest profits in the history of the world. I want to take those profits. And I want to put them into a strategic energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy, alternatives and technologies that will actually begin to move us in the direction of independence.”
Redistributing the fruit of someone else’s labor is not independence. It is enslavement.
Why is Reid so bent on losing the war, demoralizing the troops in the field and emboldening the enemy?
Hasn't he yet heard the news or is he purposefully being the idiot we all know him to be? What is his major malfunction and more importantly, can he be repaired?
LAS VEGAS -- Saying the coming weeks will be "one of the last opportunities" to alter the course of the war, Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) said he is now willing to compromise with Republicans to find ways to limit troop deployments in Iraq.
Reid acknowledged that his previous firm demand for a spring withdrawal deadline had become an obstacle for a small but growing number of Republicans who have said they want to end the war but have been unwilling to set a timeline.
I am convinced that Reid is mentally deficient and he needs to retire, step down or otherwise. He has become a Clear and Present Danger.
Sometimes I feel like running out into the streets screaming, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" The urges come and go as I read the plethora of ignorance and soiled-panty rhetoric among the theoretical intelligentsia amid the theoretical above-board thinkers but only find a style of spin known only to the lost minds of amnesiacs.
Case in point; "The Trouble With Iraq-Vietnam Analogy" at the Oxford Analytica. I used to think well of this group but through the years, I find myself saying about them, "Oh well."
The article in question was posted on 8/29/07 at 0600 hours and evidently, sleep deprivation resulted in ramblings on a scale of, well...there isn't a scale that can register the ramblings of theoretical educated beings.
Behold: (the whole article is not presented here because I will NOT "register")
The White House faces growing opposition to the continuing U.S. military commitment in Iraq, not the least of which is from within the congressional Republican caucus. As the policy debate has intensified, both the president and his critics have invoked the specter of the war in Vietnam--in George Bush's case, as a warning against the consequences of withdrawal.
Growing opposition? Where have these people been? The most Stalinist leaning newspaper, the New York Times has indicated, much to their chagrin, that there is growing SUPPORT for the Global War On Terror, primarily at the main front which, is in Iraq...at the moment.
Yes, both sides have brought up the issues of Vietnam but who were the first to bring it up and when the PROPER analogies were brought forth, which group began the "this isn't like Vietnam" rhetoric?
Although in many ways the analogy is inappropriate, critics of the administration frequently draw comparisons with the failed U.S. war in Vietnam to express their disillusionment over Iraq. On Aug. 22, Bush said the Vietnam experience offered the opposite lesson--that the public should not harbor any illusions that withdrawal would force "the killing to end." In fact, the U.S. experience in Vietnam provides evidence that the aftermath of withdrawal need not necessarily follow the direst predictions of those advocating a continuing U.S. commitment.
What? Could you say that in English or is this more of that "if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS" tripe? Inappropriate? To whom? And why? For "smart" people, they sure don't get out much, do they? Are these people confident that the Jihadists won't mass-murder their way into power? Much like they did in Afghanistan and Iraq and Iran? And everywhere else they have been? Do they not pay attention to the bombings in Pakistan, India., London, Madrid, Indonesia and the plethora of other locales?
For you trekkies out there, these people remind me of a species that thought they were smart, having been outwitted by Jordie LaForge said, "We are not smart."
It can be argued that, as with Vietnam, it is the military presence in Iraq that is partly spurring the insurgency and providing a rallying point for anti-U.S. groups and jihadist forces in the region. Withdrawal may remove this focal point and cause some of the insurgency to dissipate, thus allowing greater opportunities for the civil hostilities to play themselves out and for Iraq to eventually stabilize and then develop politically, economically and socially. Yet, as in Cambodia, the enormous potential human cost of any "shaking out" period following withdrawal cannot be discounted.
Here we go. It's all America's fault. I suppose 91101 was America's fault. I suppose the USS Cole was America's fault. I suppose the Kobi Towers was America's fault. I suppose wherever else we have been attcked since the early 1970's was America's fault as well. I suppose our own existence is America's fault.
In a way, these "smart ones" are correct but for the wrong reasons. America has been attacked and we are now in this war because we stand in the way of the reinstallation of the Caliphate. Deny that fact if you will as much as you will...it won't make it any more false. OBL and Company have said that Baghdad will be the Capital City of The Caliphate.
These "smart ones" seem to think their fancy words covers up their Cut and Run rhetoric but even this lowly blogger saw right through the BS.
The rest of the article which is accessible gets worse in its defective Leftinistra slanted rhetoric and if one is susceptible to the gag reflex, be fore-warned.
For the correct analogy, I would go with thisarticle. "The Left Loses the Vietnam War"
This article is written in English and is a very good read. The article ends with this:
So the twin pillars of the contemporary Islamist threat--al-Qaeda and the Islamic Republic of Iran--owe their origins to the collapse of American power in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. What new disasters wait to be spawned in the aftermath of a self-imposed defeat in Iraq?
Samuel Johnson is supposed to have said that nothing concentrates the mind like the prospect of a hanging. What will the American people do when they are required to meditate seriously, for the first time, on the full, concrete ramifications of a defeat in Iraq? What will they think when they hear Mahmoud Ahmadinejad boasting of Iran's eagerness to fill the "power vacuum" that will open up in Iraq after the "collapse" of "the political power of the occupiers"?
Will the American people--offered even the glimmer of a possible victory by the success of the "surge"--decline to repeat the painful history of Vietnam?
If they do, then the left will finally have lost the Vietnam War.
EN ROUTE TO NEW ORLEANS--Along with other New Orleanians, I've been amazed at the lack of alacrity with which both Republicans and Democrats have approached the problem of a federally caused flood that destroyed or damaged hundreds of thousands of homes, wrecking whole neighborhoods and communities, and spinning half a city's population into involuntary, semi-permanent exile. Now the answer becomes clear: the post-Katrina flooding just didn't destroy enough houses.
Here's your sign. How in the world does the federal government get blamed for a storm? How in the world does the federal government get blamed for the monies intended for the dams to keep the elements at bay being spent on other items by the Mayor of N.O. and the governor of the state?
The idiocy of the authors at Huff and Puff 'Loon amazes me. Their followers MUST be escapees from the Dark Side of The Moon.
Thank you John Murtha for yet another travesty of justice. Where are you, "mister" Murtha? Where are the apologies. Or, is apologizing for wrong-doing NOT in your playbook?
With several of the Haditha Marines being vindicated left and right, perhaps this one will work out for the better as well. You wouldn't know from reading the tripe in this article.
MERIDEN, Conn. -- A Marine from Meriden is currently the focus of a hearing at Camp Pendleton in California.Sgt. Frank Wuterich is accused of murdering 24 Iraqi civilians, including children.
Wuterich faces unpremeditated murder charges in 18 of the deaths in Haditha, making his case the biggest to emerge against any member of the U.S. military to have served in Iraq.
Pray for justice to be well served. Remember to keep the pressure on Murtha.
If one is either Murtha himself or Murtha-like (egad-gasp), the answer is yes. If you care about due process of law, the answer is, "Don't know yet." As the "trials" are going, it is entirely evident that the answer is, "NO!"
It seems as though Rep Baird (D-XX), is getting the Lieberman Treatment from the Moonbat Fruit Loop Brigade members of MoveOnDotTreason.
Issuing Fatwahs against those that can see and smell Victory In Iraq is getting to be common place by those that can see and smell Defeat On The Home Front. Clearly, the "anti-war" armadas are losing steam and their numbers are indeed dwindling. Don't get me wrong. They are still a formidable force to contend with but the Silent Majority Silent No More forces are growing faster than the the Fruit Loop Brigades are losing members.
Jeff Hubbard, the retired California police officer who lost two sons in Iraq, spoke to reporters for the first time since the death of his son U.S. Army Cpl. Nathan Hubbard, who was killed last week in a Blackhawk helicopter crash.
Despite his family's devastating loss, Hubbard told reporters that his support for the country's campaign to combat global terror is undiminished. "We just want people to support the nation in what it's doing to make the world a better place," he said.
More and more Americans are stepping up and shouting down the former loudest of the loud. We are fed up, sick and tired and are no longer tolerant of the Hate America and blame America First mutants of our society. Dissent is one thing but openly seditious, subversive and treasonous acts for the sake of political gain is unconscionable. I just wish the PC Cowards in DC would actually enforce those laws. I doubt if there are any in DC with a spine left that is willing to do so...they WON"T even enforce our immigration laws for fear of fellow PC Cowards.
My eldest son will soon deploy to Iraq and I have made the commitment to join the Move America Forward Caravan and the Fight For Victory Tour. I don't have very many days remaining on this planet we call earth and I will be damned if I allow a repeat of the days of Vietnam. If verbiage, blogging and common sense fails, there are indeed other means.
Back in the late 1960's and the early 1970's, I was TOLD to stop what I was doing because the actions of the hippies, zippies and other such fools was merely a fad and this too shall pass. It didn't pass. Now, the OLDER hippies, zippies and other such fools are at it again but they have their stupid children with them now. It is indeed a target rich environment.

Rise and Shine on Democrats;
How the ABC, CBS and NBC Morning Shows Are Promoting Democrats On the Road to the White House
As the 2008 presidential campaign season gets underway, wide-open primary races in both the Republican and Democratic parties are competing for the media's attention. So are the broadcast networks covering both sides equally, or are they tilting the campaign playing field in favor of liberal Democratic candidates?
To find out, Media Research Center analysts reviewed all 517 campaign segments on ABC's Good Morning America, CBS's The Early Show and NBC's Today from January 1 through July 31. Those three broadcast morning shows draw nine times the audience of their cable news competitors, and are geared toward everyday voters, not political junkies. These programs are therefore a prime battleground in each campaign's quest for positive media attention.
The results are astonishing: Not only are the network morning shows overwhelmingly focused on Democrats, they are actively promoting the Democrats' liberal agenda.
Among the major findings:
# The networks offered nearly twice as much coverage of the Democrats. More than half of all campaign segments (284, or 55%) focused on the Democratic contest, compared with just 152 (29%) devoted to the Republicans. The remaining stories either offered roughly equal discussion of both parties or did not focus on the major parties.
# All three Democratic frontrunners received more attention than any of the top Republican candidates, with New York Senator Hillary Clinton receiving the most coverage of all.
# Undeclared liberal candidates such as former Vice President Al Gore and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg received more network TV attention than many of the declared Republican candidates.
# The network morning shows doled out nearly three times as much airtime (4 hours, 35 minutes) to interviews with the various Democratic campaigns. In contrast, the Republicans received just 1 hour and 44 minutes of interview airtime.
# In their interviews with the candidates, the network hosts emphasized a liberal agenda. Of the substantive questions that could be categorized as reflecting a political agenda, more than two-thirds (69%) of the questions to Democrats reflected a liberal premise, and more than four-fifths (82%) of the questions to Republicans came from the same perspective.
# The top Democratic candidates received much more favorable coverage than their GOP counterparts, with Senator Clinton cast as "unbeatable" and Illinois Senator Barack Obama tagged as a "rock star." The most prominent Republican, Arizona Senator John McCain, was portrayed as a loser because of his support for staying the course in Iraq.
# Not once did network reporters describe Senator Clinton and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards as "liberal," while ABC only once labeled Obama as "liberal." Yet the networks showed no hesitation in attaching the "liberal" label to Republican frontrunner Rudy Giuliani, who was so branded 12 times.
These early returns suggest that ABC, CBS and NBC are skewing their news in ways that will benefit the Democratic candidates in 2008. The broadcast networks have a responsibility to cover both parties in a fair and even-handed manner -- not for the sake of the candidates, but for the voters. That means giving viewers a chance to hear from all of the major candidates in interviews, asking them similar questions, and balancing the day-to-day news coverage to keep both Democratic and Republican primary voters equally well-informed.
END of Executive Summary for the MRC's Special Report
- Brent Baker
I wonder if "they" would agree with the Fairness Doctrine if it was aimed at them...
Is it any wonder why we in The New media are a requirement?
One may want to read this or this post exposing the media bias on 7/8/07 or this. The evidence of the slant towards supporting the Leftinistra by The Big Three is all so obvious and if it ever went to court, they would lose.
Media: CNBC and MSNBC have refused to air educational commercials that support the war in Iraq. That's their privilege. And it's our privilege to point out the networks' rank hypocrisy.
The commercials were created by Freedom's Watch, a new tax-exempt advocacy group. Its $15 million campaign includes at least four ads it wants to run in 20 states through mid-September. They feature Iraq War veterans, some of them wounded, and military families, some whose loved ones have died in the war.
The goal is to provide a view of the war that old-line media don't care to report and to urge Congress not to give up on the troops.
So far Fox and CNN have aired the commercials. But CNBC and MSNBC won't touch them. Bradley Blakeman, president and CEO of Freedom's Watch, has written John Kelly, senior vice president for NBC News' network sales, asking why and requesting an "explanation of your basis in writing or station policy."
"It is our understanding," Blakeman says, "that the purported basis for the denial is a network policy denying access to groups that wish to sponsor advertising on controversial issues of public importance." Then he points out that that NBC has a "recent history of airing such ads."
There's been no response, but none is necessary. The real reason the networks are refusing is clear: The spots are at odds with their position on the war.
So much for "fair and balanced" and "no political bias here" garbage, eh?
Sen. John Warner will announce tomorrow at the University of Virginia whether or not he intends to seek a sixth term, according to two top Virginia sources. Warner is planning a 2 p.m. news conference on the grounds of the Charlottesville, Va., school, where he took his law degree over 50 years ago. The Virginian will give his speech near the statue of Thomas Jefferson on the steps of the school’s famous Rotunda, adding a fitting Warner flourish to the event.
Warner's office has confirmed the announcement and his political organization has issued a press advisory in advance of the event.
Could it be that he sees the writing on the wall? Could it be that him being on the wrong side of the flag pole has taken its toll? I surely hope so. We don't need no stinkin' RINOs getting in the way of Victory!!
Besides, he will make much more money and really screw things up as a lobbyist.
All of us should keep men like Michael Yon in our thoughts and prayers in an ever present debt of gratitude for risking all there is to risk in bringing us the Real News and for being the Armed Forces Voices From The War...
While some Iraqi Army and Police officers searched for the suspected bomber, we searched for the bomb supposedly planted along this stretch. A culvert under a 4-lane road is a likely place.
To many of the Iraqis I’ve spoken with, terrorists are fair game. Kill them. But if we kill justice while doing so, we will create terrorists out of farmers. Here the Marines are creating farmers, police officers, shepherds, and entrepreneurs out of insurgents. To do that, they have to be seen as men who respect and honor legitimate systems of government and justice.
Since I last stood in this spot, a whole new generation of the Miller family has been born: Four great grandchildren.
Along with all the other members of our close-knit family -- they are my and Shirley's most precious possessions.
And I know that's how you feel about your family also.
Like you, I think of their future, the promises and the perils they will face.
Like you, I believe that the next four years will determine what kind of world they will grow up in.
And like you, I ask which leader is it today that has the vision, the willpower, and, yes, the backbone to best protect my family?
The clear answer to that question has placed me in this hall with you tonight. For my family is more important than my Party.
There is but one man to whom I am willing to entrust their future and that man's name is George W. Bush.
In the summer of 1940, I was an eight-year-old boy living in a remote little Appalachian valley. Our country was not yet at war, but even we children knew that there were some crazy men across the ocean who would kill us if they could.
President Roosevelt, in a speech that summer, told America "all private plans, all private lives, have been in a sense repealed by an overriding public danger."
In 1940 Wendell Wilkie was the Republican nominee. And there is no better example of someone repealing their "private plans" than this good man. He gave Roosevelt the critical support he needed for a peacetime draft, an unpopular idea at the time. And he made it clear that he would rather lose the election than make national security a partisan campaign issue.
Shortly before -- Shortly before Wilkie died he told a friend, that if he could write his own epitaph and had to choose between "Here lies a President" or "Here lies one who contributed to saving freedom", he would prefer the latter.
Where are such statesmen today?
Where is the bi-partisanship in this country when we need it most?
Today -- Today at the same time young Americans are dying in the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, our nation is being torn apart and made weaker because of the Democrat's manic obsession to bring down our Commander-in-Chief.
What has happened to the Party I've spent my life working in?
I can remember when Democrats believed it was the duty of America to fight for freedom over tyranny.
It was Democratic President Harry Truman who pushed the Red Army out of Iran, who came to the aid of Greece when Communists threatened to overthrow it, who stared down the Soviet blockade of West Berlin by flying in supplies and saving the city.
Time after time in our history, in the face of great danger, Democrats and Republicans worked together to ensure that freedom would not falter. But not today.
Motivated more by partisan politics than by national security, today's Democratic leaders see America as an occupier, not a liberator.
And nothing makes this Marine madder than someone calling American troops occupiers rather than liberators.
Tell that -- Tell that to the one-half of Europe that was freed because Franklin Roosevelt led an army of liberators, not occupiers.
Tell that to the lower half of the Korean Peninsula that is free because Dwight Eisenhower commanded an army of liberators, not occupiers.
Tell that to the half a billion men, women and children who are free today from Poland to Siberia, because Ronald Reagan rebuilt a military of liberators, not occupiers.
Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier. And, our soldiers don't just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home.
For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag who gives that protester the freedom he abuses to burn that flag.
No one should dare to even think about being the Commander in Chief of this country if he doesn't believe with all his heart that our soldiers are liberators abroad and defenders of freedom at home.
But don't waste your breath telling that to the leaders of my Party today. In their warped way of thinking America is the problem, not the solution.
They don't believe there's any real danger in the world except that which America brings upon itself through our clumsy and misguided foreign policy.
It is not their patriotism -- it is their judgment that has been so sorely lacking.
They claimed Carter's pacifism would lead to peace -- they were wrong.
They claimed Reagan's defense buildup would lead to war -- they were wrong.
And no pair has been more wrong, more loudly, more often than the two Senators from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry.
Together, Kennedy/Kerry have opposed the very weapons systems that won the Cold War and that are now winning the war on terror.
Listing all the weapon systems that Senator Kerry tried his best to shut down sounds like an auctioneer selling off our national security. But Americans need to know the facts.
The B-1 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, dropped 40% of the bombs in the first six months of [Operation] Enduring Freedom.
The B-2 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered air strikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan and Hussein's command post in Iraq.
The F-14A Tomcats, that Senator Kerry opposed, shot down Khadifi's Libyan MIGs over the Gulf of Sidra.
The modernized F-14D, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered missile strikes against Tora Bora.
The Apache helicopter, that Senator Kerry opposed, took out those Republican Guard tanks in Kuwait in the Gulf War.
The F-15 Eagles, that Senator Kerry opposed, flew cover over our Nation's Capital and this very city after 9/11.
I could go on and on and on: Against the Patriot Missile that shot down Saddam Hussein's scud missiles over Israel; against the Aegis air-defense cruiser; against the Strategic Defense Initiative; against the Trident missile -- against, against, against.
This is -- This is the man who wants to be the Commander in Chief of our U.S. Armed Forces?!
U.S. forces armed with what? Spitballs?!
Twenty years of votes -- Twenty years of votes can tell you much more about a man than twenty weeks of campaign rhetoric.
Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. How you vote tells people who you really are deep inside.
Senator Kerry has made it clear that he would use military force only if approved by the United Nations.
Kerry would let Paris decide when America needs defending. I want Bush to decide!
John Kerry, who says he doesn't like outsourcing, wants to outsource our national security.
That's the most dangerous outsourcing of all.
This politician wants to be leader of the free world. Free for how long?
For more than twenty years, on every one of the great issues of freedom and security, John Kerry has been more wrong, more weak, and more wobbly than any other national figure. As a war protestor, Kerry blamed our military. As a Senator, he voted to weaken our military. And nothing shows that more sadly and more clearly than his vote this year to deny protective armor for our troops in harms way, far-away.
George W. Bush understands that we need new strategies to meet new threats.
John Kerry wants to re-fight yesterday's war.
President Bush believes we have to fight today's war and be ready for tomorrow's challenges.
President Bush is committed to providing the kind of forces it takes to root out terrorist -- no matter what spider hole they may hide in or what rock they crawl under.
George W. Bush wants to grab terrorists by the throat and not let them go to get a better grip.
From John Kerry, they get a "yes-no-maybe" bowl of mush that can only encourage our enemies and confuse our friends.
I first got to know George W. Bush when we served as governors together. I admire this man. I am moved by the respect he shows the First Lady, his unabashed love for his parents and his daughters, and the fact that he is unashamed of his belief that God is not indifferent to America.
I can identify with someone who has lived that line in "Amazing Grace," "Was blind, but now I see," and I like the fact that he's the same man on Saturday night that he is on Sunday morning.
He is not a slick talker but he is a straight shooter, and where I come from deeds mean a lot more than words.
I have knocked on the door of this man's soul and found someone home, a God-fearing man with a good heart and a spine of tempered steel -- the man I trust to protect my most precious possession: my family.
This election will change forever the course of history, and that's not any history. It's our family's history.
The only question is how. The answer lies with each of us. And like many generations before us, we've got some hard choosing to do.
Right now the world just cannot afford an indecisive America. Fainthearted, self-indulgence will put at risk all we care about in this world.
In this hour of danger our President has had the courage to stand up. And this Democrat is proud to stand up with him.
Thank you.
God Bless this country and God Bless George W. Bush.
Just thought I'd throw this back at the Leftinistra now that quite a few of their number are jumping ship...
