June 23, 2007 — Israel’s air force has been training for potential long-range strikes against Iran, as part of a coordinated effort with the United States to stop the rogue regime from obtaining nuclear weapons, it was revealed yesterday.
The flight drills, including practicing refueling in mid-flight, have been going on for some time, but they were disclosed only yesterday after Israel’s military censor approved publication by the Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv.
The Israeli air force and visiting American pilots have had joint drills, as recently as two weeks ago. The exercises fueled speculation they would work together in a joint attack if the showdown over Iran’s nuclear program escalates.
There are numerous potential targets in Iran where elements of the country’s nuclear program are under way.
The Ma’ariv report said the training is one aspect of a coordinated Israeli-U.S. effort to stop Iran from obtaining the bomb, and that Washington will decide at the end of the year how to go further after reviewing the impact of economic pressure on Tehran.
The two allies are preparing a new package of economic measures, it said. This includes convincing European governments to cancel $22 billion worth of loan guarantees to European companies that do business with Iran.
Israeli intelligence fears that if Iran obtains nuclear weapons, that will set off a Mideast arms race. Also, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly spouted anti-U.S. and anti-Israel rhetoric and called for the Jewish state to be “wiped off the map.”
How close Iran is to building a bomb is in dispute. The Iranian news agency ISNA yesterday quoted the interior minister as saying Iran had 220 pounds of enriched uranium in storage. Iran insisted until last year it had no enriched uranium at all.
But a short time later, another Iranian news agency, IRNA, quoted the interior ministry as saying he “did not say anything about enriched uranium.”
Analysts believe it would take 1,000 pounds to build a nuclear bomb.
Those drills are on for quite some time now. Sometimes they talk about them sometimes they don’t. It is a possibility, not a high likely one, cus it can bring to a dreadful deterioration with the middle east status and Arab - Israeli relation ship. Some would say, even WW3… (Korea+Russia will get into it as well)
I believe it was back in the 80s when Israel made a raid into Iraq and took out one of the “plants”. There is no reason to believe that they will hesitate in taking out Iran.
Israel is our ally, do you think that Israel will be asked to give up more real estate? I don’t think this is right.
Israel needs to “take care of business” and end the retardedness of Islam.

Peace between the two will never be possible,no matter how many conferences and negotiations are held. The people calling themselves palestinean are simply arabs who have had the same opportunities to do something productive with the land carved away from what was rightfully Israel’s all along–instead, they dealt in a death worshipping culture.
They have been given billions in foreign aid and the money has been diverted away from the needs of the people and nation building into destruction.
Their idea of peace is the same as Iran’s–no peace until Israel is gone and that plain ain’t gonna happen. Israel has met each and every condition demanded upon it by all of these wasteful negotiations and been met with more and more violence.
As for the “innocents”, they had a vote and they voted in a terrorist regime. They got what they voted for, so I really don’t have any sympathy for them now. You lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
As for WWIII? Like Barbosa says to Elizabeth in Pirates of the Caribbean–”you better believe in ghost stories–you’re in one”? Well, you better take off the blinders–we’re already in WWIII–it’s not on the horizon, it’s here and now.
Most people, myself included, are rather upset Israel (under Ohlmert) hasn’t taken more of her usual decisive, defensive stand. I think they should!

The problem is, like everything else, you ignore history and the truth which is that Israel never rightfully owned that land to begin with. That is how the Arab world sees it, rightfully so. And maybe it’s my imagination but since all of you are really backed up against the wall you have become even MORE irrational and dangerous than what I found right after the elections of last year. Please show where the so-called palestenians, a made up “nation” of arabs, ever had a right to that land. There was no “palestenian state” prior to israel’s constitution in 1948–and then it mysteriously emerged. They were known as, simply, arabs, prior to that. So please show me the pedigree and the rights to that land–land that has been, from time immemorial, Israel’s, with the land grant from God Himself.
