DETAINEE DIES AT CAMP BUCCA

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A security detainee died April 26 at Camp Bucca, Iraq from injuries sustained by an apparent assault by other detainees.
The detainee was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m. April 26 by an attending physician at Camp Bucca’s medical facility. An investigation is pending to determine the cause of death, a standard procedure for detainees who die while in custody of the Multi-National Force-Iraq (MNF-I).
The family will receive the remains upon completion of the investigation into his death, in accordance with standard procedure.
More than 19,000 detainees are held in two MNF-I Theater Internment Facilities (TIFs) in Iraq. In the past year, six detainees have died in MNF-I TIFs as a result of detainee on detainee violence.
